Yeah, that was dumb. It was also a poor financial decision on his part, since rather than getting content that could be quite interesting and fun (cooking channels on YT do well traditionally), he fucks off and leaves the viewers hanging.

But remember, he got a financial degree from college.

One of the better streamers of roguelike type games, lethalfrag, actually has a cooking subchannel on Twitch.

And he also has a culinary degree and worked as a chef for years.

So yet another way DSP is an asshat compared to his betters.
 
i dont think his downfall is set in stone.
from a quick check on his video views last month, he is averaging decent for the majority (about 2k views)
i wont speak of the 800 bucks people are throwing his way on patreon (some will probably cancel their funding but still, i guesstimate he has 400-500 each month coming his way)
he sold his blanka statue for decent money it seems and he has a lot more of those statues.

plus, he is not in that much debt as he often parrots. he blows everything out of proportion.
he recently made some corrective moves that will keep him afloat for at least 1-2 years.
i honestly dont think his youtube channel will go down before that.
he has 2015 for sure, no doubt about it.

I have to agree. Phil will be fine and won't be going anywhere for quite awhile. His newly edited videos seem to be doing decently, his Patreon is now over $1000 (before he started it, I was predicting between $1000 and $1500) and still growing. He's selling his statues and people are actually buying them.

It seems like once someone is ingrained in a role on the internet, it's nearly impossible for them to fall. I've noticed it on Twitch and YouTube that the guys who were there earliest are still going strong and nothing seems to be able to knock them from their place. People just seem to love throwing money at these people. I think Phil is going to keep raking in quite a bit on Patreon. Just look at how much MovieBob makes and he just started his a few days ago.

I am becoming less interested in watching Phil make a fool of himself and becoming more interested in his fanbase. I know the phrase "To each his own" but I am absolutely puzzled that there are 'legit' DSP fans out there. Even more puzzled that they are now financially supporting him.
 
I feel the same way about a lot of these lolcows. Sure, they are ridiculous in and of themselves but often times, their fantards are even crazier, like that Kgayleon horsefucker.

Jace is a DSP fan. I would say that gives a good insight into the type of person who finds watching Phil genuinely fun.

Kindly do not give him power or acknowledgement. He's like that one person that tried taking the heat off Vade.
 
there is no heat that can hurt him on him
there are people that dislike him (i cant really blame them lol) but they havent managed to make a significant dent to his viewerbase, income.
and not because they failed to expose him, no they did so time and time again.

but teens/pre teeens that watch him for the games dont care and dont know any better. they ll watch stuff they wouldnt even think of watching 3-5 years later. people mature.

the numbers dont lie. he made few small changes (longer videos, edited "bastard" TIHUDP's that easily get 10k views) and his views stabilized to a decent level. that gives him breathing room and patreon even more.

even if gets called out 100 times, he ll still get the views
example> he made a post in his forum "i deleted all wrestiling games from all my devices". few weeeks later he tweets "i might play some dsp titles instead of "immortals" before bed".
he didnt delete the wrestling games at all, he still plays them.
but calling him out will be useless. at the very best, a usefull feint.
with this beast you need a different aproach.
 
At ths point it's an abusive relationship. Phil calls his fans idiots and they reward him with money.

Anyway, it's just a matter of time before Phil drives away other fans.
He still has a nice amount of fans, but he could've had much more.

He has so many subs, and only 10% contribute to his views and donations.

To think Phil could've become extremely rich had he behaved well...

So? He also lacks the disabilities that mark Chris, which makes his fuck-ups and decisions all the more awful and hilarious to witness.

His girlfriend is unpleasant and he's kind of desperate to keep her. She also is quite likely a gold digger.
He routinely struggles to attain minimum wage nowadays.
He has to basically do nothing but make videos to keep his minimum wage.

He has no excuse to keep fucking up like that constantly. He clearly knew he was gonna get into deep debt when he moved out to Washington.

I think he's a combination of being a being a paid ebegging YouTube whore, being a gigantic narcissist, and just being really stupid for whatever reason. I think the second trait clouds his decision making most of the time. He thinks everything he does is right because he says so and always wants to be proven right no matter what the cost. That's where at least 90% of his problems even came from.

I remember doing the math on his earnings as well, which I think may have explained why he was so confident and arrogant on the move. I've attached it again for this post since it's relevant.

If you read it, I posit that he earned ridiculous amounts of money back in his heyday, and a YT video I found on his earnings (Source) corroborates with my lowest estimates for his old contract.

Truth of the matter was he routinely had a six figure salary back in the old days, and had tens of thousands of people watching his content regularly. That attention definitely went to his head (much like how Vade lost it when she had the influence of that Tumblr group), and just like Vade, he never fully understood or recognized that his audience collapsed as had his income. He still probably remembers those heady days where he made tons of cash and could do whatever he wanted. He's still ultimately used to a high wealth lifestyle, partially since he was quite sheltered as a kid, and as an adult he rarely wanted, either due to having a solid job at a Helicopter factory, or due to his fans watching his content.

These recent optimistic posts I've seen on the last few days that state that he's stabilized is a load of bollocks as far as I'm concerned. In 2011, no one knew that he would collapse. In 2012, he was still doing damn well. In 2013, he collapsed for the first time. In 2014, he collapsed again, horrifically in this case. While he might not "die" in 2015, his stability is effectively crippled.
