Started reading C&H really early, and never really stopped. I still have most of the collections that I rediscover every 10yrs or so.

I picked up on the boomer humor quick and enjoyed Watterson's way of making double entendres & digs at current events/people/life choices; but now that I've been rereading more in-depth again, confirms my suspicions that he had a doomer streak.

Quite a bit of Calvin's parents storyline made me wonder often if his Dad was something of a 3rd degree self-insert.
And I do remember reading short interviews with him in things like Reader's Digest, where he mentioned some wintertime shenanigans as being based on things that happened in his childhood, but didn't specify which.

I also realized that a lot of my stance on humanity's relationship with the enviroment, was very much shaped by C&H.
If anything, it helped remind me to appreciate natural things around us before they're gone.

Calvin's dad is a mix between Bill's dad and a bit of himself, probably. Bill made him have the same job as his dad at least. I remember reading a side note in one of the books.
