JJ Abrams isn't useless. If I were one of the powers that be, I'd be happy to see him kick off a film series.

I'd then ban him from the lot while someone else tried to resolve his plot points.

He can't follow up with a successful conclusion. Never has, never will.

I think that was the original intention. Get JJ to kick us off and then whoever does VIII and IX will pay everything off.

Then Last Jedi happened....yeeeeeeah.

And then the director of IX got the shit canned....yeeeeeah.

I'm not saying that Abrams now, for some reason, suddenly thinks this is a great idea, I'm saying that Lucasfilms will insist that Rey be shown to "struggle", to dissuade some of the Mary Sue criticism, just some token "Seeee? She didn't succeed there!" Moment.

Basically this, only it'll somehow play into the plot a bit more than in TLJ and TFA. There, Rey's """struggles""" were usually resolved at about the same speed that Sonichu overcomes his obstacles - that is to say: Rey overcomes her obstacles with such speed and ease, you can't help but wonder whether they even counted as obstacles.
So here, they'll give her some "obstacle" that she will overcome.

What I expect is when we see Jedi training between Leia and Rey (ugh :roll:), Rey will have some frustration, I somewhat expect Rey to speak with Leia, and remarking that she's unable to do or understand something related to the Jedi and Leia will give off platitudes like "You will come to understand when the time is right", something vague to imply that she's far less perfect than what we have seen prior. Essentially, they will invent some issue that supposedly holds her down. I expect something specific (some moral lesson or some skill, though god knows what, we've already seen Rey is as pure as a virgin saint and as capable as the highest Jedi master in any field).
It will be an utter shitshow, but it's going to be something to point at and go "Seeee? Rey's not perfect and all powerful!" and that's gonna be the whole extend of that amazing plot thread.

Speaking of beloved properties Disney has no business of owning yet find a way of doing so and fucking it up to the point they became irrelevant.

I was reminded of what JJ Abrams directorial debut was, Mission Impossible 3.

I never saw it, was that any good? Any indication of the kind of filmmaker he would become?

dunno, does anyone even care at this point? add to that with fucking up sw disney lost a lot over leverage, the only way to strong-arm cinemas into giving IX a special spot is by tying it to marvel, just like toys, and that's on it's way out too.

It was good.
Not Ghost Protocol/Rogue Nation/Fallout good but still good.
In terms of what it showed about J.J the Mystery Box was already present.
The bad guy want's the "Rabbit's Foot" which looks like a canister of biological warfare shit or something but in true J.J form we never find out what it really is.
So theres that.
But compared to his usual output MI3 is no where near as derivative or uninspired as TFA or New Trek.

And it saved the franchise, that was 6 years after the second movie, which people weren't really too fond of and it spawned a whole slew of other well received sequels.

So you can see why Hollywood assumed JJ had the magic touch and was the perfect guy to revitalize a franchise, it's such a shame in the end he just couldn't really stick the landing on it.

The modern Muppets under Disney kinda followed a somewhat similar pattern to SW. They got a pretty successful reboot movie that wasn't as soulless as TFA but was full of just as much nostalgia wankery and the characters are reset to square one, although that works here unlike SW since it parallels the career and relevancy of the Muppets while sticking to a irl-based setting which doesn't work within a fictional universe like SW unless you make a completely new continuity. Then comes a second movie which completely flops at the box office despite moderately decent reviews (although in TLJ's case, it was the opposite, shit reviews but decent box office) and for some reason put more emphasis on Ricky fucking Gervais than the fucking stars of the film and people started losing interest. Then comes a TV show that "modernizes" the characters but butchers their history and personalities even more which is then quickly cancelled and completely alienates what's left of the fanbase. Then they get a shitty cameo in Wreck it Ralph 2. Out of desperation, they bring back Muppet Babies, but completely rebooted and dumbed down to its most extreme to try and satisfy fans, but nobody ends up caring or even knowing it exists, and the show gets by only on preschool ratings, much like the Resistance cartoon.

Now they were promised a second wind via Disney+ but that gets canned and now the Muppets are probably going to go into the Disney vault forever while being regulated to cameos on Sesame Street and merchandise whoring. So this may be the case with SW too after IX should it prove to be a total trainwreck. First off:
This one's called a WiggerWar or a WickerWar (can't remember which).

Its never appeared in anything before. Not even Disney shit, although supposedly it was an unused costume from Solo. It doesn't appear in the park much like all the other aliens and cast members (except Chewbacca and Dok), and the only place it does exist is in the shitty datapad app where one called Weaselman will give you a mission to scan some box near a trash can or something. Despite being unique to the park, this is not a native of Batuu, its actually from a planet called... 111. Overall it looks like a donut steal version of an Ugor. Note that all of the pics in the datapad are black and white.

I should note that when you scan something at the park, this is what will appear on your phone.

Just a small pic with a bit of trivia. You will see these forsaken characters only when you scan shit or if you take on "missions".

This is a Bluetopian... Despite the name, they're not actually blue. This creature has also never appeared in anything but was also apparently an unused costume from Rogue One. This is the species of the tranny bartender who serves as the "queen" of Black Spire Outpost.

This is a Melttitto... It has never appeared in anything before Disney, but I'll go into detail of what Disney material it has appeared in below. Its basically a donut steal version of the Verpine but completely human in everything but the face...

That's not a helmet. It just has no eyes, mouth or... anything. It sees with optical nerves or something on its face. It is actually an alien from TFA, except the alien here at Galaxy's Edge and in TFA are the same one and his name is Sarco Plank. For some reason, nu-Lucasfilm is really obsessed with Mr. Plank as he has appeared in a shit ton of Disney content. Seriously, he is the only member representing his species in the galaxy and he appears in a shit ton of novels, comics, etc, all as a background or unimportant character, except once where he was a villain who fought Luke Skywalker over some treasure. Now he's on Galaxy's Edge for some reason while simultaneously being on every planet in every time period.

This is a Mold Warp... A species that has never appeared in anything before Disney, only appearing in TLJ's dreadful casino scene.

According to the datapad, it is the same one from TLJ, as the one in TLJ was also called Edmo Ectacle in a shitty guide, but his concept art name was Cantina Alien 37A since according to a bio with Kennedy I posted like a year ago in this thread, it was said that she only saw aliens as goofy comic characters to be laughed at and should only appear in cantina scenes, hence the casino scene was supposed to be TLJ's cantina... Sad part is this dumb fucker was probably the least ugly alien in the casino.

I'll discuss the rest of this shit in a bit.

The Muppets to me felt like a black sheep of the Disney portfolio much like Power Rangers was. I think overtime Disney grew disinterested over the IP and just let it rest for a while.

While Star Wars is becoming a black sheep of Disney’s portfolio, Disney would rather waste time with that than with The Muppets.

Meanwhile, Henson's Creature shop just made a Dark Crystal show that blew my socks off.

Maybe for art to get good again, Disney needs to lose a bunch of the shit its bought.
