I have seen parents celebrate these kinds of small improvements when it is far less than what is needed to indicate a better prognosis. I can't blame them, they see "improvement" and get their hopes up, but sometimes it is just more evidence that the child isn't bouncing back, they should be doing much better and they are doing marginally better. Hard to say if that is the case here because we have so little information, but it is my strong suspicion that she is on her way out. A case like lola's is at a high risk for progressing to pneumonia, which she is unlikely to defeat.

Have there been many other cases of an individual who is as crunched up as Lola? Like the shape of her now is going to be a main reason why she'll have breathing issues going forward, she lacks the mechanics to breathe properly...
But is her degree of deformity documented in other cases? I haven't been able to find a whole lot out, ones that were, were old age and not to her degree.

Not every parent with a child like Lola has had access to, or luckily has even taken interest in, garnering an internet cult of personality on the backs of their disabled children, and i imagine without that encouragement factor not many children in as severe a state as Lola would have been artificially kept alive for this long.

Music therapy is great for a kid recovering from a severe accident or major surgery who is lonely and upset about their condition. Less so for a grotesque perma-fetus that isn't even aware that it's been born. But obviously there's no way they can deviate from their requirement to visit every room and open themselves to a lawsuit. I'm sure they talk about the Hartleys in the break room though.

Oh god. She looks more fucked up than ever and that post about "clearing her lungs out" yea her lungs are probably filled with shit since she can't swallow properly. Still though with the constant wheezing and near death experiences from the common cold I fear she will probably die sometime this year. This oxygen that she's been on for months on end is probably going to now be a permanent fixture. Her face looks like it lost weight and she's going back to 8lb 2012 2013 vintage lola. I really wonder how fucked up she's going to look when she gets out of this hospital.
To the person who mentioned lola's crunched up shape. Well yea others on here who are in the medical field have said that it will effect her breathing Gwen has stated previously that she has "Kyphosis" which is just means she is a hunchback hence the gigantic ever growing hump on her back that's extremely visible in the bowling video and the "trying to legalize cbd oil" interviews. The hump is at a serious apex at this point it should have it's own damn name.

Gwen has always maintained that her eyes & ears work.. BUT she has cortical visual impairment. The brain can’t process what the eyes see, basically leaving her blind. I haven’t seen anything mentioned about her auditory function but would assume it’s similar to her vision, or lack thereof. Claire seemed to have a bit more function early on that gradually deteriorated. Lola, however, has always just been one or two steps above a teratoma tumor.

Right now I doubt anything works she looks like she has some beyond serious brain damage in that photo I've never seen her face and body(check the shoulder) so contorted and her eyes so dead as that "recovery photo" guarantee she stopped breathing for a long time. She's probably going to be one toasty potato when they get out of there.

Like I said once before, I'm pretty sure Lola's entire life is like a coma. I don't think she could go into one because there isn't anything there to be comatose.
Funny thing is I'm fairly certain this condition is diagnosed almost directly after birth (microanencephaly is a pretty "in your face" defect). The doctors tried to tell her this and she shoved her fingers in her ears and reee'd. IDK what happened in 2013 that made her relent.

I've never seen her eyes appear to look in the same direction. Rather than a miracle. this is very disturbing and probably a sign she's on the way out.
Does anyone recall the reasons doctors are supposed to give you the flat prognosis of a condition, no matter how grim? (It could be anecdotal, as I can't find it online) IIRC, a man was laughing in the hospital and appeared great, looking forward to going home, then the next day he was fucking dead. That's what I'm sure is happening to Lola. Maybe it was just an anecdote, but this shit happens all the time, those silent killers like the girl who inhaled a brain amoeba while swimming and in 24 hours was fucking dead. Now apply that to a meat sack with no cognitive function.

Only in the past thirty years has medical science invented ways to keep babies like Lola alive beyond six months. In reality most babies born with her level of deformity were pretty much allowed to die days after birth via benign neglect. But even if effort was made to try to keep them alive their problems suckling, breathing, and regulating body temperature meant these babies did not live long. At most babies like Lola might live a few months, they did not live for years.
I can’t watch the YT right now but from the thumbnail he doesn’t appear to have the same chest cavity crushing issue as Lola - his body seems to be pushing outward, not inward.
The breathing issue for Lola come from her body crushing her lungs by caving in on them. Lola’s spine is Pac-Man and her lungs are the ghosts. Head placement doesn’t have anything to do with it. lungs stop having the room to properly expand with air when the upper body concaves in like that. Her twisted spine is the main culprit of the issue I believe. Very severe scoliosis can compromise breathing, and Lola’s is as severe as it gets.

Anyways, you can hear mama Gwen say "open up dwarf "and "eat it" and no shit her voice changed.
It's as though the true Gwen came out.
I am sure the parents hate this monstrosity. She openly shows the hatred by putting it out in a jokingly manner but all I see from Gwen is hatred and disgust.
The old bag did admit she made fun of the short bus and re.tards back in the day. A person like that isn't going to change their shallow feelings. If anything these two, to her, are the perfect punching bags for all her pent up disgust for the deformed and re.tarded.
