Agreed, though it also brings to mind how this generation's going to lose out on a hell of a lot of old family photos due to people just not printing out photos very much anymore. Even if you're smart enough to know to copy off your photos from your phone onto your home computer, HDDs don't last forever, and disc rot can eat your DVD-Rs in a few decades.

My uncle died recently and I went through his garage to see if I coul find some useful things. He did have lots of collections of photos, as I remembered, but did probably throw them all away prior to his death. I managed to find three sets though.

Yeah, disc drives aren't as much of a thing anymore because it's more profitable to sell subscriptions to iCloud and Google Drive. DVD burners were included with like every computer sold between '05 to like 2012, but why don't you think Blu-ray burners ever got the same inclusion?
