This is everything people wanted, hated, and said would never happen. An Undertale rep, a DLC pack 2, and Homerun Contest.

On top of the other things people wanted, hated, and said would never happen: Ridley, K. Rool, Banjo, Snake coming back.

Sakurai is running out of impossibilities to achieve, like nabbing Master Chief. Or making a good online system.
 
Smash fans not knowing jack about Terry has to be the funniest part of the character reveal, really shows the disconnect between the Smash playerbase and the FGC at its best.

I mean being honest: he's probably happy for him. Him and Toby are still working on projects at WhatPumpkin, and there isn't really any bad blood between them, so I don't think he's too broken up about it.

Jealousy, maybe. But I'd probably be jealous too if my friend got to meet Sakurai, 1v1ed him in Smash and won, got to drive around and listen to Smash music in Sakurai's car, and had him humble-brag about that story to millions of people.
 
The thing that I'm most excited about right now is that there's going to be even more DLC. I hope it's a sign that Sakurai is going to fill in all 20 slots this time. I still don't expect Crono/Mallow/Geno getting in, though.

I also kinda had a feeling something undertsle related was going to happen when they mentioned Toby did music for that GF game. It shows that he's in good terms with Nintendo... Or at least 2 degrees away from them. So undertale fags might get their wish.

In the English announcement trailer, he yells in very clear Engrish, so I think they might be going the faithful route.

This is the biggest crossover in all of pop culture. What's the closest analogue to Smash Bros, the movie "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" God knows how much legal bullshit and negotiating it takes just to get the rights of the characters and then design them to fit the Smash Bros design while attempting to stay faithful to their original game mechanics.

You would have to be an utterly joyless fuck to still be bitching at Sakurai and his team.
 
I’m curious as to how they’ll implement a unique mechanic for Terry, as they have for the previous DLC fighters. Aside from giving him optional joystick move inputs ala Ryu and Ken, I’m kinda stumped. One of the things that set Fatal Fury apart from Street Fighter 2 in the arcades was the ability to jump between foreground and background during fights, and that won’t work at all for Smash. Neither are most of SNK’s other fighting game mechanics. King of Fighters’ 3-man teams? Not happening. Max Modes? T.O.Ps? Strikers? Nigga, please. Since when did your average Smashtard play an actual fighting game?

The desperation move mechanic might work when Terry’s at high enough damage, but that’s all I’ve got. Quote me on this when I’m proven wrong.
