One off stuff with it's own continuity is fine. But mainstream continuity that gets retconned or rebooted every few years is what I don't want to get involved with.

I want the story to progress. Things to have consequences. Not "tempest in the teapot" stuff that seems like a big deal at the time and then never gets referenced again. When I buy a book I won't have to worry if it will be retconned out in a few months.

I thought this thread was about Comicsgate.

Comicsgate is now synonymous with Ethan Van Sciver. Since Zack stopped livestreaming, Ethan's channel is now Comicsgate Central.

And Ethan Van Sciver still hasn't published an independent comic since Comicsgate started. But he's sold an SJW comic made by people who hate Comicsgate, and he's on his 5th crowdfund before he's delivered the first one.

That's all I came here to say, I shouldn't have responded to the troll and his nonsense. Sorry for cluttering the thread with arguments.

I don't know if I've spent more than anyone else on Indiegogo comics, but I know I've spent enough to buy a nice used car. I had deals with other retail comic shops to move some of these Cyberfrogs, but 6 months ago it was already such a sore subject that it was embarrassing to bring up again.

Retailers generally don't like Indiegogo because it cuts them out of the industry. Some of the retailers who could've made a little money from Cyberfrog have gone out of business while they were waiting. And they know some of that $900,000 in Ethan's pocket would've been spent at their stores instead.

If Ethan had said up front, "It'll take 15 months, and you'll still be able to buy it 15 months from now", a lot of that money would've gone to local shops while we were all waiting.

Lots of people want to pretend like they don't see anything wrong, but I'm not going to pretend. Any normal person has a problem when a guy owes you a lot of money, and you see him every day doing other things, working on the exact opposite of what you paid him for, buying a house, having plenty of time and money for everything but what he owes you.

All he had to do was draw 2 pages a week, and he didn't even do that. All he had to do was mail the art pages like he said he would, but he didn't do that. All he had to do was just not start any more crowdfunds before he delivered the first 3, and I wouldn't have said anything. But he couldn't even do that. He couldn't avoid delivering Taylor Esposito books before he delivered Cyberfrog. Taylor Esposito hates all of us and wants to see us assaulted at conventions. And Ethan put that guy as a priority before Comicsgate and all of our money that we gave him last year.
