I think they're just trying to slag Vic to keep him from getting con appearances and VA jobs. The only party that would try to settle after a TCPA failure would be funimation. Monica and Jamie can't settle without giving up other people and apologize for lying about Vic. They'll be finished in the VA community.
I'm relatively sure for Marchi, but I'm damn near 98% certain for Monica that she's finished in the VA community, anyways, right now. It's whatever with other VA's backing her, but as far as the companies are concerned, to a very vocal part of the audience that actually have
money, her name is mud and so will future projects with her name attached to them. (I can already see the future mockery of whenever an anime that she voiced in comes out in a box set, comments about
BuT iM tHe MaIn ChArAcTeR wHy IsNt My NaMe On ThErE) And even with the VA's who are offering her support, especially the male VA's, there is always going to be that twinge of doubt and uncertainty in the back of their minds as to whether or not he's going to be the next one up on the chopping block (coughcoughSchemmelcough). No one in the industry is going to trust her, anymore. Now, they can pull a Comic's Industry and keep her on out of spite to the fans, but I don't think these dubbing companies have the same kind of deep, deep,
deep Disney pockets like Marvel does to reward failure if the projects that she's associated with start noticeably losing money. Easier to just cast her off and aside, and continue on trying to pretend like nothing ever happened.
Seeing MoRon's TCPA, it kind of feels like a Kamikaze dive from them, hoping to do enough damage that they take Vic down with them.
Also, as an aside, for anyone concerned over Vic's lack of defending himself against the accusations that Sprecht shot at him in her emails in his responses, I wouldn't actually think much of it. General Relationship Advice 101: when your partner is that angry and upset, anything that you say that isn't "baby i'm so sorry" is going to be immediately rejected, and just make them angrier. If you deny the charges, then you're just a lying piece of shit. If you show proof that they're mistaken, then you never give a shit about how they feel and/or it was your responsibility to not let yourself get into a situation that could have been misinterpreted in such a way. Or they just completely ignore your proof because being wrong just makes them more enraged, and then they're throwing out insults that are specifically handcrafted to cut you right to the quick, to get you just as pissed off and fighting with them so that now they feel justified in their rage.
Again, that's very
general relationship stuff, does not apply to every case obviously, and you might find yourself lucky enough to be with someone that facts and logic are a decelerator to their rage. But typically, the best thing to do is offer platitudes to try to take the angry winds out of their sails until they're calm enough that you can try to have an actual conversation.
Also, this isn't to defend Vic's cheating. It's a shitty thing to do. A human thing to do, but a shitty thing, and obviously he shouldn't have. But his not immediately coming out and saying, in emails that should have been private and between the two of them, that all/most/some/
one of the charges against him are false is not, imho, any indication of him being a rampant child molesting rapists.
