I know Jimmy Carter is really old and should probably be on dementia medicine at this point, but, uh, didn't we have a full investigation into the 2016 election? The Mueller Report, you should have heard of it. It was only national news for about 2 whole years. I saw the full text in Barnes and Noble the other day. Kind of a big thing, and, uh, the result? Yeah, nothing. 2 years, god knows how many millions of dollars, and full court press for a fat nothingburger.

Y'know I think about this sort of shit when people go off on the Boomers.
Yeah, they had it a lot easier than we the generations that followed after in terms of cost and loans for homes and cars and finding a job that could turn into a career. But they also worked their asses off to provide the comfortable, cushy lifestyle that turned the beloved children they were working so hard to provide for into these entitled, evil little mindless monsters that hate them and live their entire lives trying to spite and hurt them.
The Boomers definitely got the worse side of that deal.

Hahaha no, people hate their boomer parents for a reason. Boomers are well known for providing very little financial support to their kids. They also didn't work hard at all compared to the next or previous generations. Fuck boomers, I am glad they are dying alone and unwanted, surrounded by minority nurses who hate them.

I'd give you a "Mad at the Internet" rating, but I kind of agree. I'm surrounded by planned communities chock full of Boomers living in fancy houses with giant RVs parked in their well appointed lawns, and I wonder what's going to happen to all that housing once the Boomers die off. The Boomers certainly aren't going to leave them to their children (they'll have taken "reverse mortgages" to spend the house equity on luxury cruises or they'll sell the houses so they can die in $20,000-a-month Club Med nursing homes. ) I guess the banks will take those houses and plow them under. Then use the land to build concrete apartment blocks for all of the immigrants the Boomers imported to do all their well-appointed lawnwork.

The cynic in me feels that is the real reason Pelosi is holding off impeachment. IE when the Democrats lose in 2020, Pelosi will suddenly start screaming "IMPEACHMENT VOTE, NOW!" within 30 minutes to an hour after Trump gets announced as winning re-election.
And Pelosi will make it as horrifically messy, partisan, and vindictive as she can make the process (even if it means filing new trumped up impeachment charges after each acquittal in the Senate) to either wear down the GOP to get the necessary votes to get rid of Trump or to make Trump's second term as painful as humanly possible and Trump as impotent as humanly possible. ANYTHING to distract the lunatic left and the base from how badly the Democrats fuckd up.
It will be the later; just like the Democrats under Reagan, if they don't go full tilt treason trying to impeach Trump every couple of months, you'll end up with the Democrats just plain giving up and the top brass pretty much only being concerned with their own fiefdoms/base of power and operating under the logic that Americans "made their choice" and that the Democrats are going to let the world burn and stop trying, because the masses deserve whatever "hell" they get.
At which point, the AOCs will basically end up controlling who gets nominated for President and keep losing in humiliating fashion, until the Blue Dogs get their shit together, organize, and basically do the former using an absolute unknown who will rise up from some purple state state government as the second coming of Bill Clinton.

To the point about the origin of the SJW madness, I think that the election and then reelection of Obama filled the left with a revolutionary zeal. They were now pushing for radical and transgressive ideas and for some of them the public accepted, like gay marriage. But unfortunately, they ran out of sane radical ideas and to keep up momentum they had to start pushing the shit that everyone thought was nuts for a reason. Rape culture, then transsexuality being a thing, then gibberish pronouns for nonsense-genders, then commie grandpa shit and elevating non-citizens above citizens by insisting the public has no right to have the law protect their borders.
There’s a faction that needs to see the next thing that’s just as transgressive as the last positions were and that’s why the debates were such shit shows. You probably have people on the left who legitimately think that the winning strategy is to be even more extreme left because they’ve built a social media hugbox where Pelosi gives the “Nazis” too much.

Just on this point: Is she running for re-election? If not, she's out in January 2021, and she won't have time to do much of this.
Most of the public opposed it, given that ban laws tended to pass even in places like California. It was imposed from above by the courts, and "the public" doesn't so much accept as grudgingly go along because there's no fighting it now.

There is a sort of strategy where the faction that wants something raises a stink, causes enough problems to get attention, and then demands that it be settled at the federal level. Every single time some cause fails in Wisconsin or whatever, it’s a cause for alarm and national news is on about how the plebeians need to be brought to heel to where the visitors from California want the county to be.

The blue dog coalition no longer exists. The DNC sunk all but one member of the caucus after Obamacare became a giant congressional shitshow. Most got primaried, the rest recieved almost zero party funds, and republicans took their seats in 2010. As someone who used to align with the blue dogs, this was my wake up call to how the DNC plays politics.

I can't imagine a scenario in which Trump is on the ballot and wins, but fails to take back the House.

I've analyzed this elsewhere, but when you look at the nerd hobbies who started getting an SJW takeover (Comicsgate, Gamergate, Magic: The Gathering, tabletop gaming) they all trace back to a tipping point around 2013-2014.
I think this is part of a larger issue in the American political left. For the last 100 years, "the left" was generally composed of two major ideologies: the liberals and the Progressives. Liberals were dominant for most of the time, and the Progressives used to have broader appeal (Prohibition was a Progressive policy, and there used to be a Progressive wing in the Republican party).
Some time after the 1960s, arguably as a result of Buckley's New Right taking over the political right, the Progressives stayed solely on the left and formed a permanent alliance with the liberals. They embarked on a bunch of political projects that both liberals and Progressives agreed on.
Fast forward to the 2000's, and basically the left had accomplished a lot of what the 2 factions held in common. But the liberals ran out of transformative goals. What you call "sane radical ideas" I would call "sane liberalizing ideas", things like removing Jim Crow laws, striking down speech restrictions (oh the irony!), de-criminalizing homosexuality, etc.
In 2012, as in Current Year 2019, the liberals didn't have many restrictions left to remove; the last one remaining is drug legalization, and that's already underway. The Progressives, on the other hand have a whole slew of non-liberal, authoritarian changes to society they'd like to see happen. They went along with the liberal projects, so long as it fit their agenda, but now their demands are the ones dominating the left.
(Gay marriage was the test case for this. There was broad societal acceptance that we shouldn't prosecute consensual sexual behavior, but the push beyond that was based off of a guilt trip and sophistry. Once things went beyond liberalizing sex into a mandatory re-definition of a 4000 yr old institution, all bets were off.)
Using the label "liberal" to apply to the left generally has been incorrect shorthand since the 1990's, people have been noting it ever since then. So now guys like Sargon of Akkad and Dave Rubin are having to come out and re-claim the term as "classical liberals", because they've been kicked out of the left without changing their beliefs. The schism we've seen on the left is liberals finding out their Progressive allies are no longer their allies; the liberals are now targets
It's Progressivism Or Nothing now. And Progressivism, a utopian, arrogant, authoritarian view of how to forcibly shape society into a future perfect state, has always been insane.

Pretty much. Just look at Woodrow Wilson, the ur-progressive of his day. He had a brilliant dream of a world peaceful and free if only everyone would just listen to him and do exactly what he said. Only he lacked comprehension of actual reality and couldn't get his utopian ideas passed in his America, and overseas where they were passed in a limited manner, they were as effective as Belgian neutrality in 1914.
Once he realized he couldn't strongarm the Republicans in Congress, he fell back on the old Progressive tactic, the sermon. He took a tour of the United States, preaching to the masses about how those dang dirty Republicans had foiled his utopia. The only accomplishment of this tour was his health shattering into a million pieces, and the last days of the Wilson White House saw him laying in bed with his wife his only connection to the outside world.
American's don't like being preached at, is my point. Wilson found that out, the Fundamentalists found that out, and the SocJus mob is currently finding that out.
