I think a mildly-useful summary would be that at least three people started spouting off in Spanish, as well as one or two of the debate moderators. At one point during the first debate all the microphones broke, so these people who had months to prepare for a debate couldn't even get a basic setup to work, yet they think they can effortlessly confiscate every gun in America.

Not a single Democrat in either debate wanted any restrictions placed on abortion, every one of them was in favour of open borders and free healthcare for illegal immigrants, and more than half of the debates were both literally Orange Man Bad. I think at one point one of the nominees said that their first order as President would be to impeach Donald Trump (???) and Castro was adamant about letting black trans women (men) have abortions.

Yang bored pretty much everyone to tears, a solid half of the people invited to the debates had absolutely fuck-all to say because they're Literally Whos, and Bernie Sanders spent the entire debate getting redder and redder because he just wouldn't stop shouting. Bill DeBlasio went on a literal "My wife's black son" tirade, and shortly afterwards was caught on camera in Miami chanting one of Che Guavera's slogans. I forget who it was, but one of them blamed 9/11 on the Taliban. I think it was DeBlasio, but I can't quite recall.

Every single buzzword that you can imagine came up, too, and every single generic Left-leaning talking point. Socialism, free healthcare, climate change, green energy (no one even said the word nuclear, though), free healthcare for illegals, open borders, Capitalism bad, Trump bad, trans rights. Seriously, if you can think up some generic, pointless argument, there's a 100% chance it happened during the debates.

Honestly the thread's maybe a tiny bit long but it's absolutely worth leafing through because holy shit those debates were a train wreck.
I wonder where the Dems go from here if Trump eviscerates them next year.

MSM networks openly coaxing the candidates along, Google getting caught outright planning to bork Youtube to jury-rig the election, Twitter flirting with the idea of hiding politicians' mean tweets and every single mainline candidate has devolved into acting like exceptional, drooling, rabid dogs.

How do you come back from this?

I don't think they were so open about it before. As of the second debate, we saw presidential candidates advocating abortion rights for M-to-F trannies, which is not something I'd have imagined even in 2016.

I suppose that's true. I was more thinking about how this sort of stuff was probably happening up to 20 years ago, we just didn't know since very little is hidden now thanks to leaks, etc.

They probably figured out that extremism is what usually wins.

You're right that it's been happening all along. That's what made events like Rathergate such a big deal. It ripped away the mask of objectivity and competence, and revealed the sordid, biased, stupid truth. We weren't so much upset about the one story; we began wondering about all of the stories, from decades ago.

whoops well arent I exceptional
It's okay, our love for Mommy Tulsi makes us do strange things.

I'm not very good with politic, but she kind of seems like the only one who could win the election versus Trump. The reee crowd will vote whoever has a D, but the votes that matter? I know there's an argument Biden gets a lot of blue collar support that could swing it, but the rest of them? I'd say Bernie, except getting cucked repeatedly in 2016 kind of turned off some support.

What I'm trying to say is, Gabbard is the only one who doesn't seem like a weirdo, moron, or cuckold. And she's hot.

Yeah I was like watching a Twitter wordcloud in real life.

I think he was summarizing the second night.
I didn't pay as much attention to the first night because you know damned well that none of those people are getting the nomination. Tulsi would be the only one that has a snowball's chance in Hell of even standing up against Trump, but she's not Left enough for the DNC. None of the other people there have even the faintest chance of being nominated as the DNC candidate, and I would be absolutely astonished if the DNC was smart enough to pick Tulsi out of the line-up when they could have "bigger" names like Biden or Warren or Bernie.

I frankly do not believe anyone in the second night has a shot either if Trump remotely tries, not after that disastrous performance.
Tulsi is the only one that could get the most independants and disillusioned/reluctant Trump voters. But she has no chance since she's not progressive enough for the crazies.

Now? They always were.

Slippery slope being a fallacy was a lie from day one, back then there simply wasn't any way to see it except basic intuition.
The slippery slope fallacy is real, just like the "begging the question" fallacy is real. Unfortunately both have fallen victim to a modified version of the fallacy fallacy.

Which is "if it has the same words as a fallacy, it is a fallacy".

The slippery slope fallacy is where you don't explain the steps from a to b.
Example: allowing gay marriage will mean legal dogfucking."

Begging the question is NOT when you say "well that begs the question". It's when you assert an unsupported statement in your premise.
Example: why do republicans hate black people so much?"

If you want to watch some random asshole react to the debate (RotC are the new heroes of the Vox Day thread).

Is the MSM actually covering the debate though? Or are they memory-holing it? Or did they actually think they all did very well? lol

That fuckin' got me, I laughed for a minute straight.

I think this is a "test run" that they intend to memory hole, yeah. Look how far out it is, it's insane, even for today's long-term election cycle. It's like people started announcing super early, it set off a chain reaction of everyone in the DNC announcing they were running (still sort of half-heartedly hoping AOC announces she's running and calls anyone who points out it's illegal a misogynist racist who's frightened of her latinx vagina powers), so they figured "Welp, might as well go ahead and have a debate."

They'll go through the motions, let the reactions make it clear to at least half of these assholes that they don't have a snowflake's chance in a job interview, and in about three or four months, maybe even six, when the field's narrowed some, they'll have the "real" debate and pretend this one never happened. ("Real" because, again, if anyone thinks the DNC is letting the dirty peasant voters pick their candidate, they're delusional.)

I think it was Harris who said her first act as president would be to impeach Trump, IIRC. She also did the black equivalent of the whole "I walked ten miles uphill both ways every day through 5 feet of snow just to go to school!"

Bernie looked like a drunken angry uncle. And he stumbled a bit.

Biden vacillated between faux-indignation, defeatism, wheedling, and shame, while he attempted to claim he was behind every good initiative in the US. He looked absolutely cowed most of the time. He also had to ask for questions to be repeated, which made him look incompetent or in early stage dementia.

The questions were large slowball nonsense and nobody got challenged on their bullshit by the moderators. Nobody followed the rules, including the crowd.

Maddow didn't cry. We may have to wait until next year for that.

I laugh when I see all these allegedly scientific charts showing how extreme the GOP has supposed gotten. In all of them, the Dems are in a straight line and the GOP swings way off to the right.

But consider the two issues you brought up. In the eight years of Barack Obama's administration, we went from "Don't ask, don't tell" to openly transgender people can serve in the military. The Dems have gone from abortion being "safe, legal and rare" to wanting taxpayer funded abortion on demand, at any point of pregnancy for any reason.

And it's the Republicans who are extreme? Lolz.

To me it just reeks of desperation.
