Jerry, I gotta ask why you think Valithria isn’t supposed to be sympathetic, because you keep writing everything about them to BE that way. They’re a victim of circumstance, they never wanted their job, it’s not HER fault she’s an asshole, God made her that way.

This is a writing tactic used to shift the blame for a character’s actions onto something else, absolving them of responsibility and making them sympathetic to the audience who may start to see their actions differently. The characters actions are no longer their own because they don’t want to do that, don’t know any other way because of how they were raised, they’re just doing their job and take no pleasure in it, etc.

This character is a murderer because they were abused as a child. It’s not THEIR fault! They had no choice! If only someone had shown them kindness.

The only difference is that you just keep telling us Valithria doesn’t want sympathy. If you don’t want her to be sympathetic, than stop coming up with excuses for her actions when it’s convenient to whatever argument you’re trying to make.

In his logic, Hitler was a victim as well. I mean, when the Allied Forces in WWI made Germany pay for all the casualties, the Germans suffered tremendously. After all that bluster about how great her writing is for having a completely immoral villain protagonist who would firebomb a children's hospital without hesitation, she immediately tries to absolve that protagonist of any guilt with the excuse that it's all actually someone else's fault that she is that way?
That is pathetic backtracking even by Lily's standards.

And it’s been said multiple times already but this is one of the most blatant examples of “Rules for thee, none for me”.
She’s constantly taking other writers to task for “woobifying” villains, yet she insists her genocidal tyrants are somehow sympathetic.
It floors me how people come this kind of person for writing advice.

Even if you counted Jesus as a totally different person from God, Jesus was so successful and capable of all that he was because he had an unquestionable faith in God and never faltered in that.

So quite possibly the best way to take a massive dump all over Jerry's argument.

Wow this is pathetic.

God, defines moral principles for you to follow so that you worship him and to make your life easier. No one has the right to arbitrarily declare moral principles for everyone to follow, this is why liberal leftist ideologies usually end in infighting and unintended consequences. If you start declaring god is "evil" then you have basically discredited your entire moral compass as there is no moral authority to rely on. This will start a tend where people start making stupid arbitrary moral declarations like true lolbertarians and as a result infighting and disasters will take place before you as you have rejected god's wisdom.

Every time Ruby and Sapphire were on screen together they were all over each other like a pair lovey dovey teenagers.
Even to someone with Lily's inability to grasp subletly and nuance, that would've been pretty impossible to misinterpret.
