It's like I remember going to some restaurant years and years ago and they made the best sandwiches. Then after being away for years I come back, expecting to find those same delicious sandwiches... and instead all they give me is bologna and Kraft singles.

I'm saddened at what Naughty Dog has become in recent years. Used to be one of my favorite video game companies as the creator of Crash Bandicoot and Jak & Daxter, but it's been taken over by the SJWs with a fixation on lesbians for some reason.

I think Uncharted 4 was their “fun” cutoff point, it and TLOU1 were allowed to be “gamey”, TLOU2 and onwards have to be big-brained psychological thrillers

Uncharted 3 was the last "fun" game they made. Balestra stepped down, Druckmann took over the company after the success of TLoU and managed to get Hennig fired. Uncharted 4 was the equivalent of The Last Jedi for Nathan Drake.

So Watchdogs 3 is about a post-Brexit FASCIST UK where suddenly surveillance cameras are everywhere and freedom is outlawed.

Are the people that made this game fucking exceptional? Wait, I forgot, the current CCTV surveillance state in Merry Olde England is good because it helps catch people who might have said no-no words, or be in possession of a butter knife without a loicense, or complain too loudly about law enforcement response to grooming gangs.

It makes considerably less sense than that. London has become an authoritarian police state, but at the same time "the government has fucked off and extremists are grabbing power. Organized crime is slicing up the boroughs."

That's what they're going with for Battletoads? The shit looks like it couldn't even fly for a cutscene in a Turbografx-CD or CDi game let alone today's standards, they just got some poor ass Indian kids and showed them some art from Wayforward games and said copy this.

The transformations the frogs do for their attacks is extremely obnoxious. Battletoads was at least a little restrained with maintaining a characters color when they did those types of moves, but now you have a fully detailed shark for some reason. It stayed to fists turning to big blunt objects, feet into boots, and the anvil. The art style is extremely off too. They also didn't show any of the 2d platforming game play either, only the 2d plain brawler and bike sections. Battletoads is meant to be this weird jumble of gameplay types like a triathlon.

Watch Dogs 2 was too cringy for me to play for any longer than an hour since it was basically Dangerhair Fantasies: The Game. The trailer even had an anti-Trump thing in it before the guy even got elected. I'm not really surprised WD3 is what it is. I guess a game about ~hackerz~ in Clown World really couldn't be anything but some kind of REEEE garbage.

The irony is that in WD2 the Trump-like character (Thruss) was working with big tech to win the elections. It says how out of touch Ubisoft is with reality. The Tom Clancy stuff suffers a lot from their inability to see the actual world and the geopolitics/realpolitik. Ghost Recon Breakpoint is another example, it makes no sense that the main enemy is a Elon Musk caricature who has a team of mercenaries.

That's probably what will happen, for reasons I haven't figured out it is just impossible to figure out what actually is wrong when a video game under performs. So they always go for the "lack of consumer interest" sort of logic because actual sales data and expected projections is fairly easy to understand, compare, and communicate at least to marketing people.

I really wonder why it is impossible to have community people just pop up around youtube, reddit, metacritic, or whatever and see what people say very very often. I really want to ask that question some day when I get into the business world, because to me it sounds fairly simple, at least to gauge why something may have under performed at least of simply using numbers.

It's not impossible. Community managers lie about why a game failed, and will even get their game journalism friends to write smear pieces or point to crazy forums like ResetEra and Waypoint to back up their claims.

TBF a Radeon VII is also around $700. The CPU is nice though....though at that core count and $750, it's wayyyyy beyond what I'd call a "gaming" cpu.

meh, i still enjoyed uc4 for what it was, it was a decent tps with a shit-ass villain, but a nice bookend for nathan’s character. I’ve also heard Lost Legacy is okay for a budget spin-off. In terms of “Kathleenification”, I’d be more worried about what they’ll do once they try to give his kid a game
