Holy Shit. I actually paused The Thing once I read some of the stuff about Bob. So Barb was pissy at Bob because he was closer to Chris. Seriously, sounds like a pretty good description for their relationship. Bob does the right thing and Barb messes things up because her baby boy. Goes to show how marginalized Bob was. And Cole as best man? LOL. Poor fucking Bob. Trapped between an insane harpy, a moronic son and a son-in-law who hates your guys you talked a few times. Bob was old, deal with it, dude.

No wonder he retreated into his Boblair and essentially said "fuck it all".

Fake Edit: Just wanted to add this: if Chris had added her to his phone plan think of this exchange x100. Nobody, nobody, should have to deal with that.

For some reason I imagine Chris saying "I won't stare at your tits" as he is staring at her tits in a picture of her he has.

Dog carcass in alley this morning, tire tread on burst stomach. This city is afraid of me. I have seen its true face. The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "God, let me have the unicorn battle dream".. and I'll whisper "no."

IMO, it's also kinda weird how Chris refers to his mother as "Barbara Anne" and his father as "Mr. C."
We didn't start noticing that until after Bob died. Some have hypothesized it's some weird way for him to emotionally distance himself from one parent who died and another who will in the very foreseeable future.

You know when you're at a party or something, and you're stuck trying to have a conversation with someone who has no conversational skills, and you just wind up saying something, anything, to avoid an awkward silence? Chris' messages here feel like that. Does he understand text messaging?

What if it's an example of his fear/respect of his father and how he finds/found his mother more personable? Even in 2004 he called him "father." I kind of assumed that even his dad was a JERK to him, to a lesser extent than other men. Mainly because he tried to get him to do things. It confused him because it was the one male he had to respect, but he did things he didn't like. It was stressful.

[4:28:23 AM] Chris: Another thing about Barbara Anne, she enjoys shows like "Storage Wars"

This surprises me. You'd think Barb would consider a show about dismantling giant hoards a tragedy.

EDIT: Whoops, confused Storage Wars with Hoarders because I'm autistic. This actually makes perfect sense!

Yeah, Storage Wars and Pawn Stars (and their upmarket cousin Antiques Roadshow) teach you that your hoarded crap is worth money so you should hold onto it forever.

Chris said:
Eye contact is initially difficult for autistic people; something in the ADD that goes along with that.

This is difficult to parse but is he claiming he has ADD in addition to autism? Or did Catie supposedly have ADD and he's trying to relate the two?

I can't help thinking that maybe he means "attracted to" book worm types as in a 'people he is comfortable with'/''people he gets on well with' with sense? Not sexual attraction? I just was considering it might be more innocent than what some are thinking.
That might be wishful thinking. :/

When it comes to Chris, it's always best to assume the worst, especially when it comes to women. He's looking for a stand-in female to take care of him.
