I love how Mr. Ratburn, a character who's renowned for being a hardass, but a good working teacher who loves and cares for his students is all of a sudden just turned into "GAY".
Honestly, I was surprised too and I don't mind it(arthur being progressive in a GOOD way came long before these people did. To give the show some credit, they were not afraid to tackle more adult-ish issues kid could experience. The 9/11 episode is a perfect example.) I'm just upset that for the next couple of days people on tumblr are going to make him being "GAY" the only part of his personality, which it isn't. It also doesn't help that they did actually address gay marriage YEARS before, but no one seemed to bat an eye. Hmmm....
What should be the case is that the guy who's a beloved character happens to gay, which is what they did! It really kind of shows how sad the mentality is in a way. A multilevel character who happens not to be straight is just made into that ONLY trait which is really ironic in a sense. For as much as these people scream about gay stereotypes they sure are the first to stereotype multi-leveled characters.
