Money is limited. They will only depose people who actually know things. So MarzGurl, maybe. Probably. Shane? No. They won't spend money to learn nothing except what they already know, which is that he is a completely ignorant moron with no useful information.
I understand that. But Martin Luther King had a dream and so do I. It may be an unrealistic dream, but Ty has hinted at the SJWs making things personal... and with people out here in internet land willing to throw cash around the issue like drunken sailors (see the superchat hauls for Nick/TUG/Yellow Flash and others,) to say nothing of the GFMs already in place for Vic and Zak/the Mark Waid suit, there will be no better opportunity to make it happen.

I agree that it probably won't happen because you're right. But for the bigger picture of curbing the bullshit these people have created, it would sure be great if it did.

I'm perfectly happy watching Shane flail around on social media as he sinks ever deeper into irrelevant lolcowdom.

You don't need to break him in court. He has already proven himself conclusively as an incompetent boob and in the future no sane person would let him run anything larger than a Sunglass Hut kiosk. But if they do, hooboy, many lols will be had at whatever sadsack DashCon redux he manages to cobble together.

Shane, sure. But there are plenty of others out there that unfortunately are pretty good at propagandizing the stupid and thus the idiocy spreads and more lives are impacted and or destroyed because of them.

There isn't a problem on earth that isn't best dealt with sooner rather than later. Letting the smaller fish go yesterday results in the bigger fish of today. Now I accept it's not Vic/Ty's responsibility to be the saviors of mankind form the Woke horde, but it would be great if they did go nuclear on them all.

There's something that's been bugging me and maybe you can shed some light on it.

Nick has said plenty of times how much it costs to defend yourself against a lawsuit or even to be deposed as a witness. That, of course, is true because lawyers are pretty expensive. But would it be possible for someone - say this person probably lives off canned cat food that they crowdfunded - to just show up to their deposition without a lawyer? It'd be really ill-advisable, of course, but if they can't afford a lawyer or simply refuse to pay one, I assume they'd have to appear without one. Is that correct?

It would be incredibly ill-advised for one of the actual defendants, but I wonder if anyone who isn't being sued in round one, but gets subpoenaed for testimony, might be more inclined to try it and just hope they're not the target of one of the future lawsuits (and hope they also don't fuck up and provide evidence that makes them a target).

Just because somebody has a right to legal counsel doesn't obligate them to have it in court. No matter how much of a slam-dunk case that would make it, I'm certain that no prosecutor or judge actually wants a defendant to appear without counsel, simply because of the frustration it would cause everyone when they fail to follow legal proceedings and court protocol and have to be advised what to do by the judge.

Riiiiiiiight... but since this is a civil case, they don't even have a right to legal counsel. Which means that legal counsel, if they want it, is going to cost a lot of money.

As you said, it's a pain in the ass for everyone. In particular, if one of these smart little pumpkins gets called in for a deposition and they just can't scrape up the money to hire a lawyer, I think they should probably bring plenty of lube...

Yes, and someone like Shane is dumb and broke enough to do just that. It would be great if you had a witness like this who actually had useful information because you'd get it (you'd probably get it even from someone with a lawyer). Shane is the only person this dumb unfortunately and doesn't have any useful information.

Someone like MarzGurl might and might be too broke to have a lawyer, but you can bet if she does have any useful information, one or more of the parties would insist on being there at least to observe.

Those interrogatories are going to be awesome to see the results. It's going to take them FOREVER to get all the info. lol

And then the Requests for Production that are paired with each of them will be even more fun. I hope they like dredging through everything they ever owned for days.
