Allegedly it includes dirty tricks like hiring paid shills to spin a counter-narrative on social media. Prominent anti-CGer Kwanza Osajyefo has a director-level position at Weber Shandwick and it's been alleged that he and possibly other constantly-tweeting antis like Renfamous are using Firebell tactics on behalf of Marvel, though nothing has been proven.
what companys would pay another company to let those losers be your dogs of war?

Look at the Vic thread. Kiwis have been around the block a time or two, but people can’t stop fucking posting every dropping Ren leaves.

They’re like a honeypot for autists.
Thing is that just gives her the attention she wants. Im not sure how she makes money off it though. Im sure she isnt getting paid by Weber Shandwick though cause Weber Shandwick isnt involved in the Vic thing

Nick said she might actually be relevant to the case, so short of actually giving her a thread (no) we'll have to put up with it.

I'm guessing Waid's legal tactic is just gonna be delaying the thing in order to bankrupt the opponent.

Might as well do an update on the GFMs, since not much is or will happen for a while:

I'm guessing Waid's legal tactic is just gonna be delaying the thing in order to bankrupt the opponent.

That’s not as easy to do as you might think.Especially in Federal Court, which tends to like to speed things along. Yes it’s possible to do it, but it costs astronomical amounts, and is generally only used by extremely wealthy defendants seeking to avoid and even more astronomical judgement. Waid doesn’t have that degree of resources. This delay is simply a routine scheduling conflict. They happen all the time. There is no motive to attach to it. Waid’s Lawyers will go all in on the Jurisdictional question because once that’s settled, they’ve got nothing. Their client was a fucking moron who broadcast and bragged about his TI for all the world to see. (There really is something truly retarded about nerddom.)

After the jurisdictional motion has been resolved, there's still the TCPA motion Waid intends on filing. I'm not boned up on Texas civil procedure (yeah I know they're in federal court. fuck the eerie doctrine), but if he's allowed to file that motion before the answer, you're looking at yet another delay before the lawsuit proper even begins.

It won't be long before Waid has paid out in legal fees what he probably could have gotten Zack to settle for. I know that neither Waid nor Zack are currently playing with their own money, but if Waid doesn't settle after jurisdiction is resolved it'll be hard to accept that there isn't some punitive motive behind him dragging the case out.

Yes, he is. There wouldn't be much point in an anti-SLAPP you couldn't file right at the outset. The likelihood of success on it is nearly nonexistent. I'm not sure whether a general motion to dismiss would also be on the table at the same time. Neither is likely to succeed, though.

After that, then an answer and more discovery, although there may not be much of that if there's little in the way of factual disputes. Then I reckon both sides would cross-file for summary judgment.

Depending on how much of the case is left at that point, settlement might happen then.

If not, a trial gets scheduled and, presumably, happens. My guess in a couple years unless the fuckery gets truly deep.

If anything delaying the case will give the people who donated to him more time to forget about the case when he apologizes

Ddidnt someone mention a frivolous antislaap filing could get him sanctioned?

Hey since this is still in holding pattern anyone remember when Marvel sued NCSoft aka City of Heroes back in 2004ish range. They didn't like the fact that the game you could make several marvel looking characters. What is great about it is they tried submitting self made evidence, there were 3 characters that NCSoft tied directly to the Marvel lawyers and they had to admit in court they made the evidence up. Top it all off that during this one of the Thunderbolt comics had a splash on it "A City of Heroes" so yea seems like Marvel is a house of douches for a while even before Disney bought them.

Yeah, and that little stunt earned them no points with the CoH community (which had a lot of comic fans, whodathunkit?).

The end result was that if your character name or appearance looked too close to the real deal -- and at the time, CoH had a wonderful character creation system, you could make some damned neat looking heroes and villains -- an admin was likely to wander by and change your costume and your name to 'Generic Hero 1138'.

There was a lot of peer pressure internally from players to not make 'ripoff' costumes (not much you could do about the powers, though). That tended to keep the Wolverine and Iron Man poseurs to a minimum, at least on the servers I played on.

Damn, I miss City of Heroes.

actually there was "The Generic Heroes" SG who did that on purpose they would make say Wolverine, get reported to get the generic name then keep the name and go make the costume again to get around it. I think it may have been a cross server SG too like the Taxi Bots.

What was really great is Marvel settled real quick after that incident and they hired Cryptic to make their game but then dropped them, which they turned into Champions Online. Granted not even close to CoH but still Marvel bankrolled it lol.

Yeah it look slike we will have something to read here, and a nice surprise over in weeb wars tomorrow.

EDIT: Holy shit. This is pretty juicy.

Summary by sections:

Intro: Waid did TI in Texas by contacting AP and defaming Meyer at a Texas con.

JURISDICTIONAL FACTUAL SUMMARY: More of what we know. Meyer likes superhero books. Wanted to publish one. AP had agreed to publish JB "by April 29, 2019", making announcement on May 9th. This is interesting. I thought AP had said they didn't know about Meyer's negative prep, but it says "Even before making that announcement, AP was aware of negative reaction within portions of the comic book world to Meyer’s book, and that some stores even discussed plans to boycott the book". Criticism continued through the 10th and 11th.
There was an "email dated May 10, 2018 at 9:48 p.m. instructing AP personnel to observe “radio silence” regarding the JAWBREAKERS controversy and deflect any criticism to its creator, Richard Meyer".

Waid posted is "I have a call in to Antarctic Press" message on May 11, 2019. Waid left a message with an employee saying he wanted to speak to the owner so Waid could make sure the owner “understood why the backlash [was] happening.” Quote: "AP’s office manager conveyed Waid’s message to Joeming Dunn, AP’s owner, at 12:25 p.m. stating that Waid was “looking to warn us of how badly our associati on with Rich Meyer might be for us,” and had “mentioned death threats, among other things.”

This is interesting:
Frustrated with being caught in the middle between Waid’s followers and Meyer’s supporters, Dunn sent a lengthy screed at 4:38p.m. to one of AP’s contributors complaining that AP was being bullied into not publishing Meyer’s comic book because of past statements and political viewpoints of an author that were unrelated to the book being published."

Tim Lim maybe? Didn't he introduce Meyer to AP? It says AP made it clear that they hadn't decided to cancel the book by then. After sending the email to the contributor, Dunn called Waid back. It wasn't a short call, like Waid made it sound. It lasted 27 minutes. After the call, Ben Dunn said his brother was “visibly upset”.

This next part kills Waid: Before that call, Ben understood that AP remained committed to publishing Meyer’s book. Thirty-six minutes after the call between Dunn and Waid ended, Dunn sent a text message to Waid’s phone stating, “I have decided to drop the project,” He then told a AP lackey to make that Facebook post announcing the cancellation. Waid then texted Dunn back saying: “You are a VERY good man. Text or DM me when the statement goes up and I will recirculate it if you’d like.” What a scumbag.

Next they just go over the idiotic bragging Waid did in articles, which we know about. Waid and Dunn continued to text in this time. On the 15th Waid sent a message saying “Holding up? Why in the world is Meyer claiming that you called him in tears?” Dunn refused to answer, to which Waid texted him “I don’t blame you. You haven’t turned on me, I hope?” This guy is such scum. Waid then desperately texted Dunn begging him to say Waid didn't bully him. To be continued in my next post. This is getting too long. More juicy shit to come.
