Being able to just become part of a clan after being turned is retarded.

If you had a sex change operation and then became a vampire, would your dick grow back or would the ax wound refuse to heal??

In the first game, you were turned into whatever vampire who shared the blood with a Camarilla clan had, but you weren't an automatic member, you were basically a semi-free agent Prince LaCroix made their errand runner.

You could eventually win the respect of whatever clan you were sharing blood with, with a few having quite tangible advantages like the Tremere (which included getting a much nicer apartment and being taken in as an apprentice to the reigning Tremere leader within the Camarilla).

Even then, you ultimately had to choose towards the end who to cast your lot with for the long term.

Gender pronoun shit made me completely lose interest in this. I don’t care if Epic makes this an exclusive.

Something else I noticed. The developers state the player starts as a Thin Blood. Which is a vampire who has too little of Cain’s blood in him. Basically in-between a vampire and a human. You meet a few in VtmB. In the lore it’s actually a sign of the coming apocalypse that the vampires are all afraid of. Which did happen which is why the setting was retired back in the mid 2000s.

The only way to increase your generation in the lore is to diablerize another vampire. Which involves sucking all of the blood out of them. So is that going to be a thing? The interview says you can pick your clan later so most likely not?
IIRC other than diablerizing a more powerful vampire the only way to get stronger is to have Cain himself "bless" your blood which is implied to have happened with your fledgling character in VtMB.

The real questions of the Vampire Masquerade lore right there.

Gender Pronouns? Okay, I mean, there's a lot of crazy people in VtM with all sorts of quirks.
Punching up instead of down? That's... that's not what vampires do, though. They punch down, they bite down, they're predators. Humans are cattle to them and those that look favorably upon humans are laughed at, unless you're some commie rebel faction of misfits that have no real goal outside of resist. You know the ones.

My heart, my soul... out the window it goes.

Yeah but you chose your clan at the character creation step before the game starts, meaning the vampire who turned you is of the clan you already picked. You didn't start out as a thin-blood who chose a clan after a certain point in gameplay. If anything, as a thin-blood you'd be hunted down and put to death to push back the apocalypse from happening.

Playing as an Anarch is the only way this concept would work in lore as the Camarilla are framed as a stringent political group whereas Sabbat are just monsters hellbent on having absolute freedom to do what they want.

I never experienced this game untill a few years ago via Steam. I had a lot of fun with it. Although if theres anything i learned in gaming. It's that old games brought back tend to fail miraculously.

I expect nothing.

Hm, well I liked the 1st game despite it being a buggy mess and I barely care about the whole gender stuff I've read here via links. Though, I do have concerns this being a studio that never made a CPRG, but hey maybe it'll be really surprising; hell we have a studio that made the awesome Shadow Tactics and now making Desperados 3. So, yeah I'll give this a shot and see how it goes.

Examples, please?

Banjo Kazooie in the form of Yooka Laylee comes off the top of my head, these revivals of old beloved classic games have a bad habit of coming out half-baked.

I think it usually depends on the guys who are working on the game and they least know what say the fans would want, that's why the two or well 3 attempts of bringing back something like Jagged Alliance failed since neither studio got what people loved about the Jagged Alliance 2. Though, wouldn't say that Yooka Laylee was bad or it failed, think it did pretty alright, specially with fans of oldschool 3D platformers.

Only issue is that Duke Nukem was a mess from it's development even before it was taken by Gearbox.

I don't think the fans want troon genderspecial character customisation and "punching up instead of down." It sounds very much like the creative staff knows what they want the game to be though.

I mean if the gameplay is as solid as Bloodlines 1 and the RPG/writing is as good as Bloodlines 1. The whole troon costumization shit is ignorable at best and frankly I'll say this reminded of when an expansion for Baldurs Gate came out and there was a trans character and everyone went up in arms about in the dumbest way possible, despite said character not even drawing much attention and the whole trans crap being brought up ONCE in a dialogue.

It remains to be seen I suppose, but I have serious doubts when I hear this is being made by some no-name no-game studio and before release they're talking to journalists about punching up and gender pronouns, it really doesn't bode well. The apparent lack of respect/understanding of the source material (just judging by posts in this thread, I'm not familiar with the series myself) should be a red flag too.

Thread title 6 months from now: Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 becomes Epic exclusive

It's inevitable. What we have is a game without gameplay, that should come out in a year and already has open pre-orders. Clearly they want only money and considering, that this game is being made by nobodies, they will play safe by making a deal with a Devil.
