The issue with the Epic store that people have has more to do with it's an additional inconvenience people are forced to contend with solely due to a company's financial interests. Epic is forcing consumers to go out of their way to purchase from them rather than what they're primarily used to. And they're not doing it with better feature support or by providing a better service. They're just using financial leverage to force people into changing their tastes. This is why people are genuinely emotional about this because it's seen as arbitrary. Like "Please do this because it benefits us not you".

People are stating this is better for the industry since it means more competition but Epic is not doing this in a competitive way by providing people reasons to switch to their service because it's superior. Like GOG does with its lack of DRM.

The Microsoft store is legit the deadest store I ever saw. If Halo Wars 2 sold well on there, you wouldn't have seen it on any other store, I can guarantee you that.

Going to Steam is a no-brainer for a remaster collection. It makes sense for them, especially given that it doesn't use Unreal Engine (which is needed to get the full %88 from Epic).

Sadly, GoG store isn't exactly flooding with money. And I have a feeling it's going to die in the next 5-10 years.

DRM-free may be great for consumers (personally, it's not really a deciding factor, but I respect that some do), but it isn't good at all for devs, this is why the selection of games on GoG is mostly comprised of legacy games and CD Projekt games. A platform just cannot reach its full potential unless it keeps all sides happy. NoDRM is just not enough of a competitive advantage to gain growth.

Re: Exclusives: Sadly, they are a fact of life since the 1st gaming gens, content is always going to be the differentiator between platforms, especially when you're building and marketing a brand new platform. It's annoying as fuck, but no one can succeed in the gaming arena without exclusives. Microsoft has been torn to shreds this generation, mainly because at some point they stopped producing exclusives, EA Origin hasn't gained any real traction because its only exclusives are boring EA games, Uplay is literally an annoying vestigial appendage of a platform at this point, because all the games are available on other stores.

Exclusives are the only way to properly build a platform, this sausage can only be made in one very particular and gory way.

Because EGS is removing the option to choose your supplier. That point whatever game is a perfect example, a crowdfunded game that's now an EGS exclusive. They didn't make that game with their own money, they made it with fans money and then turned around, took money from Epic, and told their backers to get fucked. Add those practices with stealing data that you know is going directly to the Chinese government, and it's pretty clear why people are a bit bothered.

Discord - No disagreement, you should be divesting, but I'm guilty of having a throwaway for ours.
Smartphones - custom rom without GAPPS, disable GPS at the system level.
Win 10 - disable all telemetry and Cortana, freeze autoupdates by telling it your wired connection is
metered so you choose what it installs.
Facebook - if you have one, you deserve it. No disagreement there.
YT & Google - ok, but do you really only have one Google account? Do you not have multiples with completely different backgrounds and whatnot? Do you use your real one for anything other than when it's needed? I'll agree that divesting from Google's web of bullshit is the best plan though.
PC parts - I'll admit you've got me there and I have no fucking clue what to do about that.

I understand that everyone is trying to spy on me, but that doesn't mean I have to make it easy for them. Which installing the EGS does. In my eyes it's completely untrustworthy and a possible attack vector depending on where that data is going, so I'll pass. I don't need the games that bad, I'll just catch up on my backlog.
