Look on the bright side, if it's awful they successfully alienated you from buying at launch. If it's good, pirate or wait until it comes on steam or somewhere not epic or microsoft store and get it for cheap.

They know, Epic will bail out any loss profits from moving there so that's why they sign these deals, especially with "low risk" titles like this. You aren't seeing things like Call of Duty moving there (yet).

Also this is probably a Microsoft choice, not an Obsidian choice. Microsoft wants to compete with Steam. This is their way of doing it.

Surprisingly enough Microsoft has nothing to do with this. They didnt gain publishing rights to Outer worlds when they bought obsidian because publishing rights where already given to Private division/Take-Two.

Take-Two is the one to thank for this.

I have to be honest, this epic store sperging is embarrassing as fuck, the one concrete thing anyone has against epic is the thing about it reading data from your steam installation and it's hilarious to jump on epic as if they're da most evilest company in da world because they're spying on you. Newsflash, every single piece of software you run (yes, steam too) is already spying on you. How many of you are running Windows 10 by the way? Kiwi Farms is probably the only website you visit that doesn't spy on you in some way. Epic most likely paid Obsidian a great deal for this. It's speculated they've offered several million dollar deals. That sort of money is EXTREMELY appealing to these devs especially if they're worried the game might not do very well at launch.

The only silver lining is that it's going to the Windows store too. So you still don't have to buy it from Epic Games.

It just boggles my mind just how much Epic is spending for these exclusives. Its gooutta be hitting 60+ million and up.

Tencent is one of the biggest corporations in the world. They have Apple tier money. 60 million is basically nothing to them.

You're forgetting Kotor 2 and Mask of the Betrayer.

A trend with Obsidian games though is the developers have an enormous scope and vision and only implement half of it. You can see it with Fallout New Vegas where the game was intended to have much more detail initially. Like the New Vegas strip was originally supposed to be part of the overworld and combined with Freeside but they had to limit this due to the engine. With Kotor 2 the game had an enormous amount of content cut and left on the game disk because Lucasarts didn't want to pay them extra to finish the game. With Neverwinter Nights 2 the vanilla campaign was extremely mediocre and they saved all of their best ideas and storyline for Mask of the Betrayer.

It runs alot better than battlenet and Origins and on the same level as gog. never crashed, isnt sucking to much power, good downloadspeed, etc.
