I don't know if you are being sarcastic or genuine, regardless, the truth will come to the surface and if it was just spergs being spergs, then we get a laugh. If Disney tried to stack the deck, however unlikely it is, then we have ourselves one hell of a shitshow.

In all seriousness, at what point is this shit just too ridiculous it's time to start dismissing outright? Like this is some shit people who would have been making fun of anti-CM people would come out with as some kind of over the top, completely unreasonable jibberish. Now people are seriously trying to pretend it happened. Movie's shit? Fair. RT pulled some shenanigans you think is bullshit? That's legit too. "They're buying up their own movie tickets I swear to God, this movie theater manager just confirmed it!" without so much as one picture of an in-progress showing of the movie being rolled to an empty room? It's time to bury the horse already.

Lord knows my habit of "being obtuse", but after a certain point you have to turn around and look at the people going "Hur look how retarded I am!" and say to yourself "I can't believe that retard is still going".

Well this is rather dumb regardless and all that can be said is see what the second week does and after that, wash our hands of this autism nightmare.

Ohmygod, people are obsessed with this movie's box office to an insane level at this point.

Okay, sure, it had a 70%+ drop on Monday. Guess what? Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 had the same drop if you do a second's worth of research, and nobody argues the success of that movie.

Honestly, the only thing to really point out with Captain Marvel's box office numbers is that they appear to be so large because almost all of the international markets opened at the same time (which typically doesn't happen). It's still going to be a successful movie though, so ...

As I posted a few days ago, they keep moving the goal post to preserve their narrative. They're now holding onto two (what I believe to be contradictory) things as their slam dunk: The theory that Disney is buying up movie tickets and the 70% Monday drop. So Disney has been able to pad their box office returns in an unprecedented way, but they are also too incompetent to do it on weekdays?

Her hair in the Endgame trailer reminds me more of how her hair was as Ms. Marvel. I'm okay with this.

Also, come on: If I were sharing the screen with Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, and Chris Evans, I'd probably want to be dolled up too. Those are some outrageously PRETTY people she's sharing the screen with. lol.

Guaranteed if she showed up in Endgame with purple hair and some nose rings, these same idiots would be talking about how badass she looks (even though dyeing your hair and maintaining your piercings is high maintence too). They're just mad because she looks pretty. We're not allowed to appreciate pretty things or pretty people anymore.

Look I just think anyone defending this movie is an idiot alright. And if you liked this movie or even thought it was just "okay", then your a part of the problem with Hollywood being a shitheap these days.

Anyway, hopefully the Weekend box office will be through the roof so you can be all "I TOLD YOU SO YOU STUPID BUTTHURT MANBABIES HAHAHAHA" like the good feminist ally you are. And now you will deny that and call me a moron, am I right?

Don't worry though, the MCU will gradually fade out of relevancy when people get bored of their formulaic and insulting garbage (which the MCU will turn into after Endgame) someday and then finally those who said Capeshit fatigue is gonna start will be vindicated.

And P.S. I only started to feel Capeshit fatigue 2 years ago. Or rather MCU fatigue.

But like that you're even this worked up, to the point where calling it "Fine if not that good" is actively an issue for you, is... really fucking autistic. That you don't think anyone can point at people trying to seriously say "Disney is spending millions on a flop for optics!" is pretty autistic. That you think anyone would laughing at people saying that are doing so for feminism brownie points and not because it's a larf that people demand to be taken seriously while saying that is...

Look quit gettin mad at children's cinema, I guess is the point of all this.

It is rather crazy people or channels believing that CM was inflated to an insane degree that disney would buy tickets just to inflate their box office numbers. Was the numbers somewhat inflated, yes as they include the thursday box office, but only really give or take 15 million. It is a Marvel movie which like it or not, is a license to print money. If they screw up Endgame really badly, then I see the movies starting to struggle, but until then people should just accept it made money.

Though on a side note, my previous mentions about the other screwy things happened around with this film has made me suspect of any future Disney projects going forward, especially with a media willing to play "softball" on movies to keep cushy relations with big studios and the shitty things and manipulation with CM on rotten tomatoes.

Shilled my sheckels to Disney the other day so I might as well throw my two cents in. There's not much substance to the film for all the hoopla surrounding it. It wasn't even exceptionally bad like 'Busters2016 or The Last Jedi. Just kind of a meh-tier marvel movie. Made with the minimum amount of competence I've come to expect from the series. Like the first Thor or Dr. Strange. Mechanically it was essentially like the first Captain America; squeezing in the last little character they need for their big dick crossover movie.

I'd still put The Dark World at the bottom of my quality list. I'm more annoyed that such a bland movie has stirred up such a controversy than I am with the mediocrity of the film itself. Shit wasn't worth it, and that goes both ways.

tbh I think a lot of them now that they know they can give a thumbs down to a movie and have it pretty much make zero effect you'll see more of them say when they don't like the movies. And if they kill off all the originals except maybe Thor and have to rely on him and Black panther (how many Spider-Man movies can they do? I doubt Sony will extend that deal after Venom showed them they can make their own money) you'll probably see the films gradually get less and less flattering write ups. It won't immediately drop to pre-WW DC levels of indifference, but slowly but surely you'll see more and more people get comfortable being way more critical with movies without long time established characters.

I'm still annoyed at how small Brie Larson is. RDJ and Cap were fucking ripped for those roles.

I get that, biologically speaking, there's going to be fair differences in the size of a man and a woman, but Cap Marvel didn't strike me as being an athlete or warrior.

Who needs muscles when you can shoot magical burny light beams from your hands?

Sounds like some MRA thing.
You're shitposting but that's actually a perfect example of the flaws in "comics are inherently political". Instead of just pointing at it, you need to presume your conclusion and then find some political message to attach.

Pulling out Occam's razor for this, either comic writers are big political thinkers who insert it into ALL their works or people who make this argument are addicts to political activism who like the taste of crayons and paint chips. I'll let you decide.

The big issue with this movie is that the protagonist doesn't really struggle with anything. I can't wait to see the movie pitch video from Ryan at ScreenRants on this. "Its super easy, barely an inconvenience" would have to be the title of the video. Rey from Star Wars would look at Captain Marvel and go "Damn girl. And they thought I was bad".

And as I've said before, they could have easily written her to be tragic and sympathetic. She got her mind wiped, brainwashed, enslaved, and forced to do evil things while having her life and memories stolen from her. I mean that's pretty fucked up...too bad none of this seems to impact her in the slightest. No redemption arc, no path of discovery to find out who she really is, no realization that her life is a lie and what that means. She just realizes she needs to shoot new bad guys and that's it! And then at the end, she basically becomes an unkillable god, so the climax has absolutely no tension at all.

And it isn't like Marvel has struggled with super powered invincibles in the past. Thor has enough plot armor to wrap around the sun, but there is always emotional vulnerability, character growth, and some kind of challenge that keeps him from winning with ease. The Hulk is mostly invincible, but Banner can't always control him and it ruined his life and all his relationships, which is covered very well. Cap is so strong, he can't even get drunk, but goddamn it has he been through some shit. And then Captain Marvel comes along and she's just lord almighty and the villains have no choice but to bow before her awesomeness.

I hate to compare her again to Superman, but her portrayal in this movie exhibits all the flaws that people have spouted about The Man of Steel for years now. He's too powerful, he can't die, yada yada yada. Except I've seen examples of Superman showing emotional vulnerability and have to struggle with his life, his powers, and his responsibilities. Superman II is a great example. Man of Steel, for all the flack that movie gets, has some great scenes from Clark's childhood of him getting used to his powers. Even Superman IV...that awful...awful movie, has Nuclear Man who poses a physical threat to Superman. When I start comparing you unfavorably to Superman IV, you did something wrong. And hell, even Batman V Superman, which missed the mark about as much as any movie can, at least killed Superman, showing that such a thing was possible.
