I can't help but think that if it was that easy, people would do it more often (or rather, at all). Like, the Vegas shooter, he clearly had the funds to do something like this, and elected not to, as has ever other mass shooter who's used an AR-15.

I can't parse why Wu would be scare-mongering over this, because unlike her prior BS about feeling the wind of the bullet or whatever, where it's obvious as bullshit but only to to people who fire a gun at some point and therefore the anti-gun crowd will buy it, scaremongering about how easy it is to convert an AR-15 to full auto doesn't really work, because people know that it's used by mass shooters with the explict intent of breaking the law and killing loads of people, but said shooters don't rig it for full auto.

Reminds me of the 3D printed gun fiasco from a few years back and how people were shouting from the rooftops that now criminals can have unregistered guns for free! But if you actually looked at the facts, the thing wouldn't work half the time and would melt after firing a single round the other half.
But why should anyone concern themselves with such gun "trivia", in John's words?

Exactly how many shootings in the US actually involve full-auto AR's? Because as far as I can tell there isn't really a huge wave of full-auto crime going on. Even Paddock didn't use full-auto weapons, he used bump stocks.

John is a splash for affect kind of guy, whatever beliefs he might have held will be forgotten whenever he can belly-flop into someones kiddy-sized pool and be the tallest child with the most Transformers.

What teh fuck is a "commerical cnc milling machine?" Does he just mean a cnc milling machine? How accurate does it need to be cause the standards when i was in trade school was always 0.15mm within the margin of error. If so you could use a non cnc one. Which almost every workshop has.

I love how he thinks so low of bluecollar workers that they woulnd´t be able to see what the part was intended for. I think he thinks that cnc machines are just as easy to use as 3d printers. That you can just plop in a piece of metal and insert a usb drive and it works by itself.
Its not like in cnc they need to :
Figure out what material that would be optimal.
Use mastercam for 30min to an hour per part.
Calibrate the tools
calibrate and messure in the bit.
Run the program at a lower speed to not fuck up any tools.
Measure the bit once more to make sure its good.

After all of this work with the metal piece they surley wouldn´t figure out what its used for.

I would also like to see the machinist face when somone asks for this part.
  • Mr wu, on the ere´ blueprint it looks like something for an ar15. If so i can´t make that.
  • YOU HAVE NOT PROOF OF THAT, GAMERGATE SUPPORTER.
-On the bottom ere´ it says "gunpart".

Which would make me think they both read the same Heinlein book but there's no way they read.
John only does audiobooks these days. I don't even think the problem/reading glasses have any lenses, he only wears them in an attempt to look more mature and intellectual.

Mature and intellectual.

Nice try my dude, you're going to have to wake up earlier than that if you think you can rape John that easily.

John you are just so smart and super fetch, why don't they just make you POTUS already?

682838

Very cool John! But was this before or after your parents disowned you and made you live in your car for being a poor black queer adopted girl from Mississippi?

Something's not right with Wu's story here (I know, right?) the AT modem initialization string has commands that were recognized in VT.25/VT.250 standard, from 1995 and 1998 respectively. The computer she's showing as her first is from 1984. I somehow doubt Wu's rich parents dumped a 10 yo (and, in 1994, pretty much useless) machine on her.

I don't doubt Wu has been used modem, most of tech savvy computer people her age did. I just don't buy the hacker persona, who dialed BBSes at 8, probably ran illegal FIDO node to relay secret messages with communist manifesto.

Wu doesn't even know what AT initalization strings are, let alone how to use them. Prior to about 1994 every modem had its own goddamn way of being initialized and it was a consumer nightmare. Once you had a 2400 baud modem you were basically stuck with it because it took you for fucking ever to set it up correctly. If your modem ever broke and you needed another one you would desperately try to buy your old modem because your Supramodem wouldn't play with the same settings as an Aceex, Hayes, Zenith, or Bocamodem.

Fucking Bocamodems.

And don't get me started on CD drives. $500 to buy one and it took the better part of a week to set it up because LOL IRQ conflicts with the modem and printer ports.

"If you live in my district, I'd be delighted to meet with you. Shoot me an email." - ftfy, John

Nigga, since when do you cater to MA-8 district voters only? You spend ninety percent of your life on Twatter trying to wu voters from everywhere but your district. Hence your paid scampaign junkets to Florida and Fornicalia and god knows where else.

I'm sure that somewhere in the addled recesses of your truewaman mind this is part of your long con of eventually running for president, but it seems a cowardly evasion to weasel out of this gun debate you started unless it's with someone from MA-8.

Then again, it's good to see you at least have some self-preservation instincts left, and that you know that in an actual debate you'll be btfo in the time it takes to gulp down a Potbelly.

To be perfectly honest though if you really do believe that the world is going to end in 12 years due to man-made environmental disasters you should actually just kill yourself.

Of course Brianna is sensitive to charges of environmentalist hypocrisy. Any Porsche environmentalist would be.

One's choice of car is not quite as inevitable as the need to breathe. Unless one is a toxic narcissist who gets validation out of one's choice of vehicle.

Funnily enough I was mostly insulated from the joyous world of figuring out a modem's command set quirks until like 1998 when I started using Linux. My first ISP had a neat installer that bundled up Trumpet Winsock, whatever the PPP software is they were using and the Mosaic browser in to one package and that got you connected to the internet with one button push. I think my only exposure to actually knowing how to talk to my modem was trying to play Warcraft 2 via direct modem connection, and what a joy that was trying to coordinate setting up a game when the only communication you had with the other play was via the same phone line you were trying to dial them with. Many exciting conversations with the modem were had.

You know Wu's story is pretty fucking dubious, because a) Who the fuck remembers their particular modem's init string after 30 fucking years, and b) She's previously mentioned having a 2400 bps modem which would not have used the extended command set as demonstrated in that particular set of commands.

I never know how much of Wu's old BBS days stories to take seriously. At least some of it is bullshit. like running up a huge Prodigy bill emailing a boy she had a crush on. I suspect the whole thing is an edifice of whoppers. I bet Wu never dialled a BBS in her life, she's never mentioned usenet or IRC which were a big part of the early internet life. She was a console dweeb who probably never even touched the computer.

(Edit: Also, only a weenie had an ATAPI CD ROM drive. If you were 31337 you had a soundblaster 16 with the CDROM drive expansion port.)
