When I joined the game back in like 2010, I was surprised at how many Snipers I played with were genuinely incompetent and didn't know what they were doing. But I'm a good sport, and I thought that many, like me, were still new at the game and I looked forward to seeing the skill of the players around me improve over years.
It's 2019 and the sight of a Sniper sharing the same Team Colors as me causes me to go into a drunken stupor. I don't know how Valve managed to create a game in which the simplest class to play in almost anything ever is also the one no one can actually play but by God did they find a way.
Fuck Snipers.
DUDE, I LOVE STUN MECHANICS IN FPS GAMES, LMAO.Sandman being nerfed (fucking thanks, Valve), I'
Sandman+Cleaver was aids, just like airblast+Reserve Shooter and old Saharan Spy (couldn't hear the decloak unless they were right behind you). The old Sandman stun was annoying as it was, but nothing was less fun than losing ~200 health and not being able to do shit about it.Anybody here main a class but feel like they're kind of stagnating? I'm kind of disappointed in myself because I used to play Scout religiously because I loved the cleaver/Sandman combo, but after realizing my aim was shit after years of not playing any shooters and the Sandman being nerfed (fucking thanks, Valve), I'm not really sure who I should play anymore.

Die, Pyro main, die.Was formerly a dedicated Soldier main back in 2012-2014. I held them front-lines, escorted many a payload, and blasted into the air more than I could conceivable count. For me, it was all about the job which made me different from most Soldiers; I would put myself in front of my team and usually only Rocket Jumped away from a fight or to finish a fight rather than did all the complicated stuff Soldiers are known for. Got me some good runs, but eventually as I experienced higher level play I realized that my skills just weren't cutting it anymore and that I should leave the skies clear for the real Solly's. It's a hard pill to swallow when you realize you don't meet the cut and can't catch up to your peers, but somehow I knew that me and the rocket launcher were drifting apart and rather than pretend that I still stood a chance I bowed out early after accepting my limits.
I danced around with Engie for a time while I got my bearings on other classes but then, as if destiny were spitting in my face, I picked Pyro on a whim and discovered one of two classes that filled the ol' niche of my long lost Soldier from ages ago. I'm usually a flex player nowadays, but Demoman and Pyro have become my go-to's. They're less specialized classes that have tons of utility, and they don't require the frame-tight execution factor of the Soldier. Demoman particularly allowed me to still alleviate pressure from my teammates while also being a capable defender and I never missed the added mobility because of it.
Pyro, on the other hand, was exactly what I was looking for: A little bit of everything but with exceptionally high potential to combo with pretty much every class in the game barring Sniper. I could defend key players on the team, force a push, assassinate, crowd control, deny space, sponge damage, etc. Pyro is usually known for being very brain-dead, a reputation I agree with, but Pyro's best attribute is his ability to perfectly partner with most classes in combat and being a great battle buddy; Heavies appreciate his ability to scatter power classes and deny their projectiles, Soldier's can be spared from Ubered counters and other rockets and bombs, Demos can take advantage of a Pyro ambush to do tons of damage, Medics and Engies can be protected from Spies, Scouts have a friend that can cover pushes or retreats, and even Spies can better pick targets that retreat from a Pyro.
It sucks that Pyro is known for idiots walking around with their flamethrowers out, but if you can understand his flexibility, you begin to take note that he's a surprisingly good team player.
Shame it took Valve fucking ages to give him some decent new weapons.

A lot of Pyro mains that don't rely on lucky airblasts tend to analyze your movement while shooting. A lot of low-to-mid-tier Soldiers will just W+SPACE+M1, which these Pyro mains expect. I find that if you jump without shooting, you can usually bait out their airblast and hit them while it's cooling down. After like a couple of days of fucking around in MGE with some Soldier mains, I can actually strafe correctly and don't suck w/ Soldier anymore, so I'm starting to lean towards him as my offense main. I have met a lot of Pyros complaining about how "braindead" Soldier players are because they can't airblast properly and end up dying, so I guess I'm having fun? It's not hard to deflect as Pyro so long as you don't jump the gun, so that's kind of a dumbass complaint. 2Fort Pyro bitches, stay bad.
Aside from that, all I play right now is Demo, Engineer, and Medic because I love that crossbow shit.

At my pyro-best I could more or less time how fast a soldier would turn around and shoot if I fired up his ass. It felt really empowering. Pyro is also a colossal meme and attracts all those skillful players because reflecting back projectiles is for some reason super empowering to them. They die because they focus on reflecting as opposed to holding down mouse1. I play pyro with shotgun and homewrecker and I perform better than most of those unusual-wearing youtubers. People forget the role of the classes once they get too comfortable. Play 9v9 once and you quickly remember the actual duty of a pyro; ambushing and defending buildings.A lot of Pyro mains that don't rely on lucky airblasts tend to analyze your movement while shooting. Tf2 isn't realistic because the Soldier doesn't call the Demoman a coon.
No, you shouldn't. Half the userbase is tranny furries.>Pyro is the highest voted
I expected better of Kiwis.
Only girls play Medic. He and Medic are tied right now, if that helps.
Or people who don't want to have fun.Only girls play Medic.
Well, looks like I tipped those scales. Loved playing the brainlet class of w+mouse1 years ago.He and Medic are tied right now, if that helps.
