I think it's just a style thing.
when she was younger my mom liked a british punk band where the frontwoman had goth makeup, including drawn on eyebrows. She would shave hers off and draw them on, but didn't always keep on top of it. My gran loves telling us that a guy she met said "your daughter's lovely but has four eyebrows!"

The Hispanic lady thing of shaving off your eyebrows then drawing on new ones isn't new. It's not just hispanic ladies, I know portuguese ladies do it too.

I think it's like the powder white geisha faces. They take a "positive" quality (paleness, fine eyebrows) and overdo it to the point of ridiculousness. It's just cultural evolution.

That doesn't make it any less off putting or ridiculous, of course. It's hard to decide which is worse though, the drawn on super thin eyebrows or the electrical tape eyebrows...

Obama was elected because of what he was not who he was. Just like he got his peace prize for being the first black president and went on to be a shitty commander in chief who traded away national prosperity for sweetheart deals to his personal friends. A Chicago knee-breaker to the bitter end.
Our first black president should have been Herman Cain :(

Not to be that guy but Obama was also elected due to the Bush Administration being terrible with McCain promising to continue what Bush did, and Obama was a young charismatic candidate who made promises that appealed to many people like bringing the troops home and closing Guantanamo Bay.

Exactly. Obama was both Not Bush (or Republican... so terrible was Dubya that the entire party was stained) and black. These two things are primarily what got him elected.

How was Obama better than Dubya? I mean, he was essentially a black palette swap, he continued expanding government surveillance, continued getting us into stupid wars... he said different stupid things I suppose...

I mean, sure, the media panted Dubya as dumber than a horse's ass and Obama was the second coming of christ, but in actuality, were they that different?
 
I believe I asked already so forgive me but if there were a election between Bush and Obama, who would you all vote for?
