just kidding Kaiba is great go watch it

They had a reputation as pretty shit to start out with, so I suppose they pulled this SJW crap figuring the people already willing to settle for their shitty service (and actually pay for it instead of just pirating like a normal person) would also eat this turd sandwich.

This is really why I reckon an investor could seriously clean up if they just challenged them. There's obviously a big and regular pile of money sat there as weebs want to support the industry however they can and it is a convenient site.

We already know the studios/committees are relatively ambivalent to the global market and sell the shows off with little care about what happens outside of Asia. They're only really paying attention when Netflix or Amazon come calling because they're the guys who take the risks and let the studios experiment.

You'd just have to trade off a bit of longer wait time to build the business up to the same level as CR's is now. Heck, offer to make some of the better translation groups to go legit, or store some of the cash up to make a very attractive offer for originals then.

Also something I noticed in this that I've noticed in the work of some of the other writers on this projected (namely Kate Leth) is that they're style of writing always has this underlying... sarcasm, for lack of a better word. Like in the scene for this pitch where the villain reveals that they sell fake magical goods: she does so in a very matter of fact manner that's just feels clunky and unprompted by the current events. I think they're trying to come off a self-aware and maybe even a parody, but since the writing is so lack-luster it just ends up coming off as insincere and half-hearted; almost feeling like the writer thinks that they're too good for the medium or saddled with it.
The eternal poison of all CURRENT YEAR media, every single franchise is a Joss Whedon fanfic re-skinned.

Shat out with all the sincerity of a sulking thirteen year old saying, "It doesn't matter that I failed the tryouts, the joke's on them because I wasn't trying anyway."

The Twitter thread checks out, definitely from Yaginuma. Here's the image for those who don't want to click the link.

Think someone in this thread already pointed out much of what Yaginuma says, now that I think about it. But pretty hilarious nonetheless the stuff coming out about CR in lieu of this.

I wonder how AniTubers would justify this

My problem with this show is who is this for?
Whos the target audience they're trying to get?
And from what I'm hearing, the Japanese audience ain't going to watch this shit.

Obviously, the show's for them and maybe their closest followers. The average joe already has the rest of CR's library to watch (even the japanese co-productions) and the Japanese themselves don't really give a shit about CR as it stands.

In other words, it's a very small-minded crowd.

If that's the case then this show is going to be a fucking disaster
I don't even think it's going to make it past the pilot episode
If it does, that's a miracle in of itself

I thought the thread being bumped to the front meant there were some news about the fate of the show. I need to stop getting my hopes up. :sigh:

Still leaves a sour taste in my mouth, but I was otherwise forgetting about its existence and feel this is fated to fade into obscurity eventually. I still think Raye deserves better, but unless he's already lost the rights to it, he could use more time to flesh out his creations and move away from the obvious Madoka roots to avoid further scrutiny about it.

Everything is pretty shit about this but what gets me the most is the “this character is [established character from another property] but [x]!”. When it comes to characterization and character development a phrase like that is peak lazy, it just shows that the creator has zero confidence in themselves to create something thats their own and leans on someone else’s fine tuning of their own character.

But hey that was already obvious.

Kinda sounds like SU (OR worse, OK K.O.), but much worse off... Too many popular anime references, not enough fucking originality or actual ideas to make this SJWBS actually shine in a real way. They're making anime look bad with this... And at the same time, they're making Western fare (cartoons) look even fucking worse. Either way, it's all unacceptable. Please let this burn out and be quickly forgotten is all I can ask of this SJWBS.

This has like a 70% chance of panning out the same way Gen Zed did.

Dead silent since the initial coverage:

I suspect it might get quietly cancelled thanks to all the fallout.

Did they ever give a date for the initial release? I do find it odd they haven't stated anything so that gives me two options:

1) The show is still early in production and they just showed some concept art originally. So it's possible they just showed a teaser as a way to generate hype. There are cases of shows have one off teasers only to suddenly spam announcements the year it's supposed to be released.

2) It's possible that CR saw the backlash to it and decided they best way to save the show's rep was to let things die down and then advertise again sparsely. It's possible they wanted to change their marketing strategy to make the show more approachable.

3) (unlikely, but a possibility) The show got canned or is delayed into the abyss. Even the new She-ra reboot got some attention after it's initial teaser and pre-production pictures. Seeing that we barely have any news isn't atypical, but it's still something to take notice about.

Anything is possible, another explanation could be that CR is just incompetent and never really planned out a lot of things regarding the series. Like its release date.

I mean, they released a teaser with next-to-no animation, I can see them being that incompetent.

I'm pretty much done supporting danger-hair's and their shit stories, so all my anime is basically piracy. If I want to support the show, I'll buy a blu-ray. Fucking sucks, because there's no way around this censorous crap. Funamation with Sony, or Crunchyroll with this shit. Stick a gun in my mouth, fucking christ.

And that's pretty funny when you realize that CR was originally a pirate site that managed to make some connections and acquired some shows legally after a while.
