It was specifically one of Jon's favorite series (Banjo Kazooie?) were the recording apparently ended up just being overly negative so they ditched it.
That was Conker. It's still one of Jon's favourite games but it "didn't make for good recording material" apparently.

I'm surprised no one has noticed the infamous 3D World Miiverse incident by the way. In this particular episode of Arin and Danny's 3D World run after beating the level Arin suddenly gets upset and Danny seems like he's trying to calm Arin down, seemingly over nothing. At first it seems like it might just be a really awkward joke but people have looked into the footage and found it was manipulated to remove a particular Miiverse post, most likely this one.

Whew boy this is going to be a good read, ive always hated this guy and his fetal alcohol syndrome wife. :story:

I used to look up to Arin back when I was a teenager. He's part of why I got into animation. It's disgusting how he threw away his legitimate talent for an easy way out. This Arpeegee's project shows just how much his art has degraded over the past 7 years. Egoraptor is dead, now there is only Arin.

That is some investigation. I immediately would have thought the blank post was the censored one and moved on never ever knowing. Sometimes it pays to be exceptional.

I've seen multiple people bring this up, and honestly this is less a Grumps thing and more of a fandom thing in general these days. More kids than ever are on the internet, and they're all just as insatiable and horny as we were but *in droves*. The Grumps don't brand themselves as a children's show, so I don't think they're entirely to blame for this. It's just a sad inevitability kids roam around on the internet without supervision. And while they do joke about having sex with each other, I think it's just because trying to pushback on it would only make it way worse. It's a no win situation.
I think it just has to do with how accessible the internet is these days. Teens are gonna be horny, and they don't have developed enough social skills to know that talking about famous people like they're pornstars is weird.

That being said, I do think some of the anger is played up. I think Arin actually gets pissed, but then tries to play it off like he's just doing an angry over the top joke and that's when he starts throwing a temper tantrum. When he's actually mad, I think his default reaction is to sulk and sound visibly frustrated. That's how I remember it in the Jon era at least whenever Jon called him out.

Some of it is played for laughs, but it has been mentioned in one of their older Grumps episodes that Arin has a drawer full of broken controllers that he’s destroyed in a fit of rage. And there have been times where it sounds like him angrily throwing a controller on the ground.

That kind of behavior is barely acceptable when you’re a kid. When you’re an adult, it’s fucking exceptional.

How bored do you have to be to crack out your DS during sexy time?

Nice tits though.
Eh, experience here but her tits aren't nice. They're a bit saggy and I think the DS part was staged, part as a way to explain the hands being there to push the tits up into a not-disgusting place, and part to just look cool.
This is the most convincing explanation of Jon leaving Game Grumps(Arin just being bossy and Jon not sucking his dick) and also the most boring. I can live with it though.

Depends on how much effort it takes to make the OP, and how bad OP hates your ass. Apparently you were an easy OP, this one took some work. Also I know some people think of good candidates for threads but nobody wants to step on each other's toes for a big name so it goes undone for awhile.
Have you ever seen this?

Makes a good case for it being about Arin's dickishness and deceitfulness with business ongoings. Also guys I've heard it passed around from Dan's information that Dan was couchsurfing at the time (basically homeless) and Arin took him in/brought him on the show as a way to employ him so Dan often feels indebted and like he cannot do anything else.

I really don't know how much of that you could possibly put on Arin. He switched from animation to let's play in large part because he makes more money off of putting out large amounts of lower quality content (making jokes with Jon/Dan while sucking at Sonic) than small quantities of high quality stuff (original animations). Since the advent of Game Grumps, Youtube has only made that more true. You can be sad that original Youtube animations are a dying art form, but I'd hardly blame someone like Arin for going with the more financially sensible option.

As for the humor degrading... I mean has it changed all that much? The only real difference I see is being more pandering towards "SJW" types, but again can you really blame him if the core demographic who watches his show is into that sort of thing? Other than that, his shtick was always toilet humor, being pretentious about games while also being terrible at said games, and outright rage for comedic effect. Has that really changed in any fundamental way? I mean I've not seen much at all of the post Jon stuff, but maybe whats happened here is that you aged out of the target demographic more than anything else.

Now in terms of being disappointed by the non-Youtube related stuff, I've no idea as I've not kept up with this dude in ages.

There was one episode of Game Grumps that almost made me unsubscribe,
https://youtube.com/watch?v=MN6-ILN9-YUMy question that after hearing about Dan's situation with drugs in the past, why the hell was he taking drugs himself?

Dan’s pot stories are just silly stoner stories for the most part. There’s nothing I recall being a Mary Jane-induced harrowing experience. Sure there was shit he did while packing a joint on him, or while under the influence, but even then the worst I can think of is the story of Dan accidentally wedging a U-haul in a tunnel.

As for Arin’s weed experience: I’ve consumed a lot of weed in my life in various forms, but I’ve never had an experience that was anything close to whatever the fuck Arin was describing. Wtf did Ross buy?

Quick reminder that the youtube algorithm changed around 2011-2012, and people recieved money based on watch time/engagement instead of views alone. A short, 30 second video may get five million views because its easily consumable, but people watching longer videos means they spend longer on youtube, see more ads. You can only put in midroll ads on videos that are 10 minutes or more, hence the gamegrumps format being around 10 minutes each.

As for humor, I think it's subtle. The humor is still there, but they feel noticeably burnt out. Sometimes when you watch an episode, they'll mention having been at it for five hours, or going out to eat dinner at five in the morning. That's not healthy or fun. Here's a video from four years ago illustrating that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nio3wpREKXA&t=0s&index=6&list=PLRQGRBgN_EnobW47-d3ldUav_AGDlMr3o

Not to mention I feel that the way they present their content is outdated - pre watch time/engagement favoring youtube, videos often couldn't be much longer than 10 minutes due to bandwidth issues. It took site culture a few years to adjust to this change beyond EIGHT HOUR MUDKIPZ CHALLENGE and shit like that. Gamegrumps could make their videos much longer, make their time feel less wasted when Arin screws up. Oneyplays actually has a remedy to this, they'll post three-four hour 'X GAME COMPLETE' playthroughs.

If I had to guess, most modern gamegrumps fans probably consume gamegrumps through compilation videos that put together the best jokes or specific themes. That way you can avoid sitting through episodes like Yoshi's Island up there.

I don't necessarily agree with his conclusions, but this is a really good chronicle of the GG lore.

Back when I was a bit more into GG a few years ago I mainly watched the animated versions that took the most funny clip out of an episode. It seemed more creative, and the moments were usually funnier in the animated video than in context. Even when I was a "fan" I could hardly sit through an entire episode.
