Before 9/11, Western conservatives were pretty pro-Muslim. Le Pen's party courted Arabs in France, Muslims overwhelmingly voted republican in America, and dinesh d'souza wrote a book defending Islam from 'militant atheists.'

I wonder if things will go back that way? On paper, conservative Christians and conservative Muslims agree on most issues, so it's not out of the question. Especially with the current obsession people have with Marxism and socialism - something both Western and Eastern conservatives despise.

If that happens, I can definitely see the left turning against practicing Muslims pretty hard.

Western European conservatives don't despise what American conservatives would call Socialism. When did Le Pen ever court them?

Back when Le Pen's party was more explicitly antisemitic. This was Jean-Marie Le Pen, not his daughter. He was even pro-Saddam.

Now the party stance has shifted and they're fanatically pro-Israel (like most of the far-right oddly enough), but it used to be the opposite.

It's the immigration angle combined with identity politics. Muslims absolutely can't be the bad guys because they're oppressed PoCs like all other brown people. Sure, some Muslims (all liberals will admit) do bad things, but overall Muslims are good and need to be given a chance since they're all innocent victims oppressed by white supremacy.

When the left purges that sort of garbage, then most Muslims will go back to being regarded with suspicion, just like the left is still suspicious of conservative Christians (and what passes for a conservative Muslim is like Pastor Stephen Anderson or other crazies on the extreme fringe of other conservative Christians).

Nah, depends on where they're from. Sure, a conservative form Afghanistan would be a fringe lunatic by Western standards, but a middle class conservative Muslim from a wealthier and more developed country would fit in well with the republican crowd.

Interestingly enough, I saw a poll a while back that found that American Muslims were more supportive of gay marriage than Evangelicals, Mormons, and other conservative Christian groups and another one that found that 25% of children born to American Muslims don't identify as Muslims. This - coupled with virtually every notable Muslim politician in the US being an sjw - could explain why the left has embraced them.

The only Muslim members of Le Pen's party were Algerians who collaborated with France in the Algerian war and were forced by Algerian nationalists to move to France or face execution for their collaboration. Le Pen campaigned against Muslim North African immigration to France.

I use to be a crazy Islamophobe and I changed my mind. I had transcended bigotry. I didn't even think of Muslims as people. Here is an audio recording of me breaking my laptop when drunk because of the "Muslims taking over Europe" Fuck I love myself

The Pew Research study which you're referring to (and which Islamophiles often love to point to) shows that American Muslims are more supportive of gay marriage compared to Evangelicals and Mormons because the former is a survey group where all Islamic branches, from hardline Salafism to Americanized intersectional queer Islam, are lumped together while the latter two are some of the most conservative religious denominations in the U.S. So even if it's technically true that American Muslims as a whole are more tolerant of gay marriage than Evangelicals and Mormons, it's a flawed comparison.

Evangelicals account for nearly 27% of the US's population, they're not exactly some obscure religious sect. They're certainly the most politically influential religious group around, and they're the fastest growing Christian group globally. Mormonism is its own distinct thing and the Mormon population in the US is probably larger than every single Muslim sect in the country combined.

Not only is the Muslim population in the US too small to divide into branches, but there also aren't many clear-cut divisions in Islam aside from Sunni and Shia. Salafism isn't its own distinct branch of Islam, it's a puritanical form of Sunni Islam and many of its adherents wouldn't even identify as 'salafi.' Both the salafi and inter-sectional queer would just say they were Sunni Muslims if asked.

I don't think I've ever seen a poll that distinguishes between Muslim groups anyway. At best, you might find one about Lebanon that separates Sunni and Shia.

It's with the second and third generation of muslim inmigrant when a percentage of them tend to radicalize , is like the grandson of a bulgarian or german guy, he never face communism or fascism so in his mind the idea doesn't sound bad.

The left embrace islam because the bush administration wars and because the left motto is "no matter your skin colour or sexual preferences, you are equal to me".Is not a difficult question.

I know Muslims in Europe, Australian Muslims, Canadian Muslims, and American Muslims. American Muslims by large don't know about their religion or its doctrines. They claim to but they don't. Muslims in English speaking Australia and the UK are a different world from American Muslims.

Americans are also better at assimilating immigrants. That probably accounts for the differences between American Muslims and European.

She's not going to sleep with you, dude.

She has her brother for that.

This thread is showing its age.
Islam has some pretty based and redpilled aspects like homophobia and anti semitism. If you hate it for those reasons, you’re a gay homo.
But Islam is still heretical, barbaric, and not the religion G*d intended.

I hope Muslins kill libtards and faggots more often, so we don’t have to do it.
A lot of trad Muslims think progressive-Islam is not deen and is a mockery to their religion.
