I would imagine it was because she got all of the negatives of being around Game Grumps (the porn, weird fans) without any of the positives (a bunch of money, fame, benefits, opened doors to other things).

A wife who wants you to move when you can't take your job with you is a wife who thinks you should quit said job and considering (I haven't watched for a long while) that it sounds like Ross doesn't have much going on for the channel and I haven't seen him in anything else that Holly was probably right to think maybe it was time to pack it up and try a different approach.

I get it entirely, like I said, there are clearly benefits for some of them (Arin, Suzy, Danny). People ask in this very thread "why does Danny ignore it"; it's because Danny makes boatloads of cash from GameGrumps (directly, through merch, and for the constant non-stop plugging of his three(?) different bands albums and performances).

Holly was probably content to let Ross chase his dream and likely actively believed in him (and still does). But I think the longer this all goes on the more apparent it becomes that Ross isn't going to get anything huge out of staying around Arin and company, especially in his current (is it still current?) capacity as GG whipping boy.

Other LPers (and smaller ones at that) have gone on to start lucrative podcasts, started game design companies, got into voice acting, high level positions in "gaming" companies (like Jinx!) and Ross is still the host of "steam train".

Kind of. They're at the very least, restrained enough not to be complete tards and don't take their internet lives too seriously. If I remember correctly, Brian went out of his way to avoid having his face on camera/use his last name for the longest time because he didn't want it to negatively impact his actual career (college professor? something science related?) Honestly, I think he has a similar edgelord sense of humor to Arin and while he was sometimes genuinely funny, he tried too hard/forced certain jokes. Could just be he was uncomfortable on camera though. Danny was always pretty chill and down to earth, and while he shared some personal stuff, he also kept some things close to the chest and I think overall he focused more on being entertaining. He also rarely got angry as far as I can remember, and would own up to when they were sucking at a game vs. a game actually being bad.

I think Jon's content is genuinely pretty good, but Jon himself is not the brightest bulb. I don't want to say he's outright stupid or anything, but I think he has a hard time articulating things and tends to go with the flow more often than not. There were times on Grumps where he'd end up agreeing with whatever dumb thing Arin kept repeating. There was that whole podcast mess too where he was trying to talk about immigration or something and just sort of stumbled through it and confused everyone. I never really followed that because there was so much hyperbole of "Jontron is the next Hitler" and other clickbaity things.

In the videos I saw, Ross never seemed to sperg out or anything. I can barely recall any personal details about him. The fact that nobody seems to know why him and his wife split suggests he keeps a pretty tight lid on things.

I feel like there's also some... Website or subreddit dedicated to Holly's feet. I think Dan has mentioned before that the only bookmark on his computer is a website dedicated to Holly's feet, and because he's inept when it comes to technology he can't figure out how to remove it.

I don't know how any of them are comfortable with porn being made of them... I think Brian and Arin are the only ones okay with it thankfully. Brian even wrote a fanfic about Dan blowing him as a joke. Dan has mentioned multiple times that he doesn't like jokes about them blowing each other, though he's never said it about Arin as far as I know, just Brian's jokes.

Also the Game Grumps being shit at video games is literally the best part about Game Grumps. Knowing what they're doing wrong gives the videos a sense of dramatic irony that let's plays don't normally have.

Ehhhh. Debatable. If I want to watch somebody be bad at video games and have fun with it, I would rather go watch Jabroni Mike, who not only acknowledges that he's not that good at video games, but I feel like his New York accent just makes his rage funnier somehow. His Twitch chat has a "rock in brain" emote especially for when he can't figure out babby games.

Also I think his side content is gut-bustingly hilarious.

Mostly I'm just plugging Mike because I really think he's an underrated streamer.

IIRC Dan used to get super uncomfortable whenever Arin made jokes about him sucking dick.

I feel like Arin was really trying to go for the same report he had with Jon, where they would constantly joke about fucking each other. Danny eventually just kind of got used to it, but boy were some of those earlier episodes uncomfortable.

With Arin though, it goes back to him being in his highschool manchild phase. He's going for that edgy "look how much I don't care" style of humor that most 14-15 year old's go through. He's the kid who'd shamelessly shout penis as loud as he could just to get people to look at him, then he'd crack up laughing at his antics because he thinks he's so quirky and unique for not having any self-respect. Arin has no idea how to socialize beyond that because he's never been forced to do traditional adult things. Whenever they talked about doing their side stuff, it always seemed to boil down to Arin's friends approaching him and guiding him through the process, or Arin giving the idea to one of his friends who then guided him through the process.

Frankly, it sounds like Arin hasn't really changed that much since the short time I communicated with him nearly two decades ago. I was sixteen at the time and he was maybe thirteen or even younger. We were once part of a clique within the Mega Man fandom when having a shitty GeoCities fan site meant you were part of the club. It was a fun couple of months where we'd fuck around in group chats on AOL Instant Messenger as obnoxious teens. The main difference then was that there was no YouTube around to show the world how exceptional we were. Most of us have matured and gone our separate ways since then, but poor Arin never really moved on. He just found a new outlet for his idiocy.

It makes me grateful that I went on to university and acquired a few new interests along the way. Arin dropping out of high school probably fucked him over in the long term. He could've gone to a respectable art school and perhaps become an animator if he had finished instead of pursuing e-fame like he did. He had the talent for it, but he wasted it and I wouldn't be surprised if he winds up homeless by the time he's 40.

And in between that, Danny is busy telling stories about his youth, or raving about some one-hit or no-hit wonder from the 1980s or 1990s that everybody else has forgotten about.

I have heard rumors that Suzy is the only woman Arin has ever been with, and that they split up for a time after he quit school, but he didn't make an effort to pursue anyone else. Arin just waited for Suzy's new relationship to end before he begged her to come back.

My first experience with the Grumps was right after Super Mario Maker came out, and I was curious about it to conduct a Google search for more information. The second link was part two of Arin and Danny's playthrough of the game, when they were being tormented by Ross and his troll levels. At the time, I had no idea about who Jon was, or why he left, or anything else mentioned here, but I was entertained enough to keep watching them.

I've always said the functional difference between DSP and Arin as entertainers is that Arin was smart enough to keep another guy around to bounce off of. Without Danny there to defuse tension and attempt jokes it would literally just be a schlubby middle aged man with bad hair seething in impotent rage at video games.

As others have said, though, it's sad to see him like this. I admired they guy a lot back in his NG animation days. My friend group still uses quotes from some of his Awesome videos nearly a decade later. I remember stumbling across a video a couple of months ago when Dan was out sick, so Arin was going through his old computer files to fill time. He was flipping through his art from the late 90s and early 2000s, posting bits of his Newgrounds stuff and even parts of an unfinished game he was working on. Pretty depressing seeing how he went from "ambitious young man who wanted to push the envelope and make things" to "middle aged burnout who burps and screams on camera for money."

C'mon now, Sonic Boom is probably the funniest Dan-era LP they've done because the game provides most of the comedic material for them to bounce off of.

I do think Arin has realized Gamegrumps won't last forever though. They have 5 million subscribers and get about 250k-300k views per video on average. They've started branching out a lot more recently, doing live actions skits, selling art and merchandise, and doing long form live streams. Kinda sucks they're too pussy to play Jack Box games with the audience for very long for fear someone might say something out of their control though. Ultimately, I think they've done some sketchy stuff but I can't say I have any real contempt for them (yet).

Shocked Arin didnt get a thread here until now. I browse r/rantgrumps for a few years and it's pretty obvious how Game Grumps has declined. Now they're simply souless husks who hate their jobs but do it for easy money.

Anyway, here is some material i can think for now:

1- Arin HATES his fans and blames them for his mistakes. When Suzy scammed the fuck out of people he blamed the fanbase for harassing her. When they doxed the walkthrough guy, he blamed it on the fans again for "being uncool" and never apologized. I'm going to cite another great example i didnt see mentioned yet:

2 months ago a fan would reply to arin with a joke saying Ross is not cool. This "joke" was invented by Arin himself because he would constantly bash Ross on his videos.

Ross himself says he is cool with it but Arin isn't and he mumbles about how it bothers him. "Oh just because it's a meme means you can shit on someone? That is uncool." This is of course fucking hypocrisy because Arin was the one who made this "meme". Even Ross realizes and says that there are hours long youtube compilations of Arin shitting on him.

Again, Arin hates his fans.

2- Arin also manipulates the fucks out of his fans. First of all, he doxed someone so he knows how much power he has even by accident, but a lot of the times he exploits it intentionally. I think the CRINGIEST example would be when 2 years ago, Arin literally started a video by asking his fans to "help him get Chris Pratt on the channel".
