I like that a high school biology teacher of all things is used as the appeal to authority/gotcha du jour. As if they're ever intellectual heavyweights and not just teaching from a state curriculum.

I'd guess it's because it's made up bullshit. People are just more likely to pick certain numbers when fabricating something.

“Hurting” is not a term in common use among British men of Pterry’s age. I don’t recall it in any books or interviews and the only info I can find on it is that a lot of people don’t recall him saying that.

I actually pointed out to someone I knew that this quote was fake, and he charmingly responded with “I don’t GIVE A SHIT if it’s not real, there is NOTHING FUNNY about punching down!”

He is a chunky middle aged white guy who always tries to be super “woke” on social media in a desperate attempt to look younger than his age. It eventually got so bad that he labeled Jerry Seinfeld a “right wing” comedian, used the “I Stand with Sophie” profile pic border, and also dared someone to give him “at least one mass shooter that’s not a straight white male.” When someone gave him a sizeable list, he did not take it well.
