I saw recently that some characters lack Spirits, and there's the general implication going around that
Sylux and Porky might end up as playable character due to them not having any spirits.

There are 1100 spirits, and playable characters often have multiple spirits. I wouldn't read too much into that.

Fucking Nintendo and Sakurai, I knew keeping those DLC characters secret was gonna result in another year of this spergery. Hopefully it won't take long for them to reveal the rest, but I got a feeling we've got six more months of fake leaks and overwrought speculation.

I feel the same way. I really don't know why they didn't just reveal the DLC characters they chose in the direct, even if they weren't ready to show gameplay. I don't even know why they implied that they hadn't chosen them yet, since they came out not even 2 weeks later and told people they had already chosen the DLC characters. Of course they did. Not sure why they weren't upfront with it from the beginning. All this speculation is pointless; they should just come out with it, especially since they are already asking people to pay for it. I wonder what Vergeben's going to pull out of his ass now.

We probably won't hear about the other characters until after PP comes out around January-February, and going off of how they did DLC for the last game, they'll likely just announce and release characters as the year goes on, up until early 2020.

And if past events have taught me anything, it's to expect anything to happen in regards to character announcements.

I'm not going to complain too much because after Ridley Dark Samus was the only other character I realistically wanted to see get in. That said it is disappointing because Dark Samus easily has enough personality and moves to be it's own separate character and not just an echo. I seriously don't know why the fuck they didn't include it's battle music, or either parts of the Metroid Prime battle, or any new songs from the Prime trilogy. Or why they only added three Metroid songs but went crazy remixing a fuckton of MegaMan songs or including nearly the entire Street Fighter II soundtrack.
I think they just don't like Americans.

I've been watching someone play on a private stream and saw something that made me really happy.

You get to play as Master Hand vs the entire roster, 7 at a time, in a structure akin to 100-man smash. I hope that's an option in the normal minigames menu and/or in normal smash since it looks fun as hell.

Does anyone know if you have WiiU Smash Bros data on amiibo's, will the data port over to Super Smash Bros ultimate?

Yeah. You get a level downgrade though. There's also the option to reset them and start over.

Some goodies.

Apparently Snake's codecs are back, but it's only the old ones.

Also, this is real:

I don't know what Spirits do yet, but with such a name, I would hope they'd have great and simple uses.

Spirits..... Spirits..... say that word slowly and slur out the "ts" part. It sounds so weird.

So a hacking community I'm lurking in has noticed something in the files that's going to make a lot of people very angry.

There's absolutely no trace of Home Run Contest in the game aside from the music from the WiiU version (which is just assumed to be a dev remnant since the game's based on the SSB4 codebase)

I'd be lying if I said this didn't irritate me a little though, HRC was pretty iconic and it seems weird for it to not be there. Maybe it'll be DLC?

Oh, a good tip for those playing with friends who have never played Smash before: set your handicap to auto and only play on stages with walkoff and no ledges/pits. Taking out the recovery mechanic makes the game easier for new players to experiment and keep track of themselves and the autohandicap keeps things sporting. Turn the handicap to manual when you start losing. Another tip is if you're playing with multiple people, set it to Time instead of Stock so people don't get knocked out of the game and punished for losing. This setup is really good for parties or gatherings with friends if they like games and you have the spare controllers.

To be fair, did anyone actually play Home Run Contest at all?

I never put more than an hour or so into it per game but yeah, I played it. It was a fun dumb minigame and amusing to see how far high-powered smashes would launch characters on a stage with no despawn zones.

If there's any uproar about it being missing I bet it shows up in the first DLC (or the day one patch)

I've been looking for my USB GC adapter for two hours just so I could play this game in an effective way.

I found £3.07, a dollar, two rolls of dental floss and some vitamins, but the adapter is gone.

I was feeling so optimistic once I'd found the controller itself just sitting there in plain sight too...

Edit: Oh wow, I finally managed to find it!

Well, sort of. I never managed to find the one I was looking for, but it turns out I had a better one boxed this whole time. I'm relieved, and I guess my room is tidier now too!

I don't know where that dollar came from.

For those of you who pre-ordered physical copies of the game online, you should all be seeing charges on you credit/debit cards as of Monday and your orders are more than likely being prepared for shipment.
I actually got a fraud alert on the credit card I used to pre-order the Special Edition, I had to tell the company that it was something I preordered back in November.
