The prequels in-and-of-themselves are alright in their own way, but I can't help but watching them now that they were a missed opportunity for something better, and I think part of the reason that they weren't as good as the original trilogy is simply a matter of George Lucas being unchallenged as the director and script writer.
holy shit I found reposted versions of this

You know, when Hux popped up in TLJ, I didn't even know that he was a character from TFA, cause he was such a lame and boring buffoon that I didn't even know he was supposed to be the dude that gave the speech in TFA.
A shame, I get the feeling the actor would be more than capable of delivering a really good performance if the script wasn't shit.

I kinda get it but it falls apart once you consider what they also established.

This can be said about everything the new loresets up, though. They establish something, it contradicts something in a major way, so they try to come up with a work-around to fix this issue and create half a dozen more issues by doing so.

Keri Russell could be the new version of Mara Jade, Rey Mom, a First order or Resistance officer or a Knight of Ren and thus a student of Luke (Her character share quite a few scenes with Kylo btw so she could be important)
Richard E. Grant could be Thrawn (too much unlikely), a first order crime Lord or Rey's dad
If this turns out to be true, then this is the first indication that this whole thing has turned into a giant, autistic tug-of-war between Jar Jar Abrams and Ruin Johnson, where Abrams sets something up, Johnson shits on it and then Abrams shits on whatever Johnson did.
Guess "Your parents were nobody" and the mirror scene in TLJ meant "Your parents were sooper speshul". :story:

Crazy-Cat-Lady representation matters.
Seriously, I can't get over how shitty that costume looks. jfc.
Everything we know about Darth Maul comes from later additions to the story, not the film itself, and so the character really has no motivations ever other than he has a flashy light sabre and he's ohhh scary. Maul should have been the big bad and have that carry over to the second film where he is then defeated by Kenobi. His death and Qui-Gon's as a result were meaningless.

I always thought Darth Maul looked silly and I could not take him seriously as the villain, but killing him off made him even more of a joke.
The ST suffers from the same issue, amusingly, only to a much larger extend. The OT suffered from villains being replaced by some other dude that the viewer didn't care about. The ST now pretty much the same, only applied to pretty much every aspect of the movie.

How many new Force powers do you think Rey will gain in Episode IX?
Well a rumor is Palpatine might gives plans or a new superweapon to Kylo so if that's the case is it going to be Death Star IV or something that doesn't like a moon?
Rate me optimistic that Palpatine isn't wasted on that shit

I sort of imagine a scene where Kylo gives good old Sheev a call, asks him if he has some awesome plans for a giant, spherical doomsday weapon that, can blow up whole planets. Sheev goes "Leave me alone, kid", hangs up on Kylo (who then proceeds to mope and play with his teddy bears) while Sheev goes "giant spherical doomsday weapon, that can blow up whole planets, huh?" and it is revealed that this was just a few hours after he took over the Senate on Coruscant.
If WokeWars has given us one thing, then it's nonsensical explanations for things we never asked for, that is just an attempt of the new lore to elbow its way into the old lore. So how about an explanation on how Sheev got his idea for a giant, spherical doomsday weapon?

Both versions have vivid hair color, but there are some nuanced differences.

lol you forgot to respond to my post

Whoops, overlooked it in the plethora of other quotes, sorry.

I wanted to say that I am eager to find out, too. I almost expect her to heal a mortally wounded person, deflect blaster shots without even looking at them and then flying off into the sunset.
Well, if Leia can fly, Rey Sue almost certainly can.

Her outfit looks like something I'd expect from a female George Costanza at his lowest. But regardless, the fact that she wears a cape is what makes me certain she's gonna be set up as Lando's kid, because now Lando's all about flamboyant capes almost to the point of parody as if that was a defining personality trait of his and not a common fashion accessory in upper class worlds, with said cape only being used for ESB.

Another rumor I mentioned many many pages back in this thread was that the DisneyLucasfilm was planning on bringing back as many "all-stars" for IX, with the exception of Han, into this movie, and so far all the spoilers have pretty much confirmed that, with the exception of Phasma whose the only one left from the "leaks" to be confirmed, but mark my words they'll milk that useless chrome dome. And it was already confirmed long ago that Yoda's ghost will be in this to bless Rey as the greatest jedi ever. And in the end, I'm sure JJ will pull a ROTJ 2.0 ending on the forest world we've seen in leaks and have the movie end with some dumb party where Rey sees the spirits of Luke, Leia (I'm sure she'll be killed off in the film) and Han at the end standing in the same fucking poses as Yoda, Kenobi and Anakin did in ROTJ, despite that dead Han probably wouldn't even know how to do that. But the Han there will be computer generated to appease Ford, so we'd have as many cameos as possible. Maul will also likely be forced in there somewhere now that the Solo trilogy is cancelled.

They will have that Alden Ehrenreich dude show up as "Ghost of young Han Solo". Just as a final Fuck You to the audience that was dumb enough to stick around long enough to suffer through this crap.

Other than that, yeah, I expect this to end with every major character from Star Wars ever to line up either in the flesh or as Force Ghosts to clap for Rey full Neon-Genesis-Evangelion-style and congratulate her for being the best Jedi ever that managed to create a TRUE and HONEST balance in the force (unlike that loser Luke).

Does anyone know which way round it is - Kylo (of the Knights of) Ren, or the Knights of (Kylo) Ren?

if that makes sense

The latest from Marvel's Star Wars comic! That oh so wonderful comic series that is praised for its art and diversity! Just take a look at these gems! I am literally in awe!

Isn't Dr. Aphra just lovely?

Seriously Marvel... Please stop. What are you even doing anymore? What the fuck is Disney even doing? This is just Dobson levels of shameful but people will still defend it because of "inclusive story" and "lol so randumb" humor...

https://redef.com/original/star-war...sneys-mistakes-were-real-costly-and-avoidable

Really seems like the times are a changing. Hell, someone on SaltierthanCrait went through the positive reviews on RottenTomatoes and found that a fair part of them do agree with the general complaints against TLJ, some even ranking it 2/5 (still Fresh) or saying it's closer to AotC than ESB
Well at least they're not completely denying that Disney made mistakes anymore, so I guess that's a step in the right direction.

More than the face that's clearly just a photo with a filter over it I am amazed at the fur on that coat and the clouds in the background.
The fur is literally just a photo of white fur with a few lines over it and the clouds are from a generic stock image.
Then there's funny stuff like the right hand, that's holding the blaster. Is there no trigger on that thing?

Can we make Dude McEyepatch the Star Wars Version of Hide the Pain Harold?
These two faces are exceptionally bad. The woman is blurred as fuck and it looks more like a shitty photo from a cheap porn magazine.
The fuck is up with McEyepatch's neck, what are those grey things next to his shoulder? Looks like they're pens in a pocket, only noone bothered to think about how that would interact with anything else in the image.

And is it just me or does the background sort look like it's prerendered and then colored afterwards?

This is a disgrace for any comic publishing house, short and simple.

Worst part is that there are people who are actually defending this shit because its "canon" or because Marvel agrees with them politically, or worse, because they think that if they don't support this trash then their precious martyr Dr. Aphra will get cancelled. And if you try to bring up how shit these comics are, their only defenses are politically motivated or they'll bring up the old 70s comic as a scapegoat because the art in that looked "way worse". At least that shit wasn't traced and was made in the fucking 70s. And way before SW even became the fucking billion dollar media giant it is today under an even bigger media giant.
ffs.png
Why the fuck does it matter if its "canon"? Are you gonna buy a dog turd because it has the Disney Wars logo on it with the word "canon" at the bottom of the logo too?

Those are tubes, rods or something and have around since either the OT or the REAL (yeah I'm bitter) EU and are symbol of ranks like the colors

I miss Dark Horse. At least with the games and movies production values went up while everything else nosedived.

True, but they're rather minor so its easy for anyone to miss them.

They're basically "medals" of sorts containing data proving your rank and allow you to access classified shit by aiming them at computers. The more of them you have, the more you can do without restriction. For the film, these medals were made using radiation dosimeters. However Romanes is right about everything else in regards about the absolutely abysmal state of that comic.

True but besides the Awful Luke face I think the Vader comics page was a more tolerable than the rest
