Ok I'm noticing that there's a load of absolute tards complining about SmashU not having horrifically long unlock times and shitty challenges to get characters, when did people start liking the MVC2 style grind again?

I can't be the only one that hates having to unlock characters specifically in fighting games but I'm starting to feel that way from every smash conversation since a month ago.
The grind this time around is not as bad, every 10 fights get you 1 fighter and you could always do a survival with 1 hp
If you want to complain about unlock times complain about fucking mewtwo requiring 400 hours to unlock in meelee

Oh yeah nothing will ever be 700 matches for Mewtwo, infact the smUsh grind should only take like an hour and a half if a friend of mine is to be believed I just want to know where the sudden resurgence of people WANTING mewtwo style unlocks came from because honestly that shit was never fun.

That's way less than I had in mind, Jesus. That's still like 610 fights but not too bad. You can always have dozens of 1-stock battles.
Also the spirit fights in world of light count as fights, so you can unlock characters while also playing the singleplayer mode while also being able to unlock them in the map of world of light

I don't think it's 10 per fighter since I saw something about people unlocking everyone with 350 matches but there is a time limit so you have to wait 10 or 20 min between unlocks unless you reset the system which is fucking stupid.

So it's just a sequential order of unlocking?

I was hoping the story mode may have a way for me to rush to Simon

If I recall, its completely random what character you get. So you could end up unlocking K Rool first, theoretically.

Side note, but is anyone actually planning on playing Dark Pit or Dark Samus? I don’t know, it just makes about as much sense as playing as Shadow the Hedgehog or something.

Been out of loop of this whole Virgenben thing, who is this man?

Vergeben is some "insider" that a large portion of the community worships because they think he's legit. Most notably though, he claims that Minecraft will be represented in Ultimate either in the form of Steve or some other shit.

He's backpedaled a fuckton since the actual leaks have started, and despite making a total ass out of himself and his proposed "inside sources", the community continues to suck his dick because they are all sheep that think they know what the devs will be releasing for DLC. In reality, there's absolutely NOTHING to prove aside from typical "My Uncle works at Nintendo" leaks on a forum and a few lucky guesses.

The speculation aspect of the Smash community is total cancer, but that's enough of the Community Watch thread leaking into here already.

Regarding the unlocks, it's worth noting that World of Light stuff is not unlocked through any other modes, but the opposite does not apply.

So you can go for the 15-hour World of Light playthrough to get everything you can, then unlock whatever remains elsewhere.

I unlocked simon in the world of light after 10 hours, so trust me on this when i say you are better off unlocking the players via battles, because WoL is fucking filled with filler and padding

I'm looking forward to Dark Samus if I ever get the game, but it's worth keeping in mind that Dark Samus isn't an evil twin, or shadow, or edgy kinda sorta lookalike, or anything like that, it's a monster inhabiting one of Samus' former suits. That's the shortest answer I can give without going into the whole Prime trilogy.

Re: unlocking, unlocking is done on a timer. Every 5-10 minutes, you get a new challenger to unlock based on the character you're using. There's no special unlock conditions, it's just tied to the character you're currently playing, with each character having their own lists of characters they will unlock in sequence. It takes about one and a half hours to unlock every character if you're actively grinding for it, or one to two extended sessions of gameplay if you're not.

It's a heavily mutated metroid contaminated with the Colour Out of Space from the H.P. Lovecraft story of the same name. No reason it has to be a mirror since it had fairly different moves in the boss fights but I guess it probably will be given they didn't even bother to put its boss music in.

I'm not going to complain too much because after Ridley Dark Samus was the only other character I realistically wanted to see get in. That said it is disappointing because Dark Samus easily has enough personality and moves to be it's own separate character and not just an echo. I seriously don't know why the fuck they didn't include it's battle music, or either parts of the Metroid Prime battle, or any new songs from the Prime trilogy. Or why they only added three Metroid songs but went crazy remixing a fuckton of MegaMan songs or including nearly the entire Street Fighter II soundtrack.

I'm pretty sure Square Enix is just very protective of their IPs. We only got like 2 FF songs and 3 Square Enix spirits I think. I heard Cloud was the last character to be given the OK to appear, similar to Sonic in Brawl.

Does anyone know if you have WiiU Smash Bros data on amiibo's, will the data port over to Super Smash Bros ultimate?

Your getting it a bit cunfuzzled, classic mode is where the character you're playing matter for unlocks. If you grind 1 stock SD matches though the characters are unlocked sequintially but yes the unlocks are on a timer.

I saw recently that some characters lack Spirits, and there's the general implication going around that
Sylux and Porky might end up as playable character due to them not having any spirits.
