That's ridiculous. Real rich people don't buy shitty little starter porsches, and they definitely do not brag about driving a porsche. This might work in the tech industry, where people think that a flashy job at a company that uses the word "interrupt" in its mission statement means rich, but that's not who lives here and it's definitely not who has the money here. For the rich people here, they can tell people who are the same based on job, education, and club membership. The Wus could pass muster with the first, but not the other two. Nobody would hold that against them, unless they pretended to be rich in a gauche and tacky way. This explains why she was never able to raise money in the 8th if she thought that calling Barbara Lee and mentioning her porsche was the way to go. Barbara is very progressive but she is also a proper WASP and I can imagine her face.
