This is the way I see it: it's an unanimous thing that furries consider themselves the social outcasts, calling themselves a furry and being an active member gives a sense of this belonging to them. And that's cool and all but that gives a foundation for hugboxes. People are so piss scared to call someone out at times for serious deviant matters because there's that "I don't want to exclude someone" thing going on, so it's easier to sweep things under the rug and conform to the don't ask don't tell or you're immediately blacklisted.
About a month ago I briefly hung out with a small meetup at a con which the previous year Growly had attended. I spoke up about this and one of the guys who planned the meet up for both years immediately said "Oh! Growly is such a good guy! That thing was totally taken out of context!" Dude how is being an accessory to his boyfriend fucking a minor and being a creep to more minors at cons something to be taken out of context? I split shortly after.

Well, first of all, let's not gloss over that those statistics were done at conventions, and it's always going to be pretty weird to have someone you've never met walk up to you and ask how yiffy you are.

Second, the media was a pretty big problem for a long time, all the way up to the CSI episode on furries. Since then it's been pretty quiet. But in any case, a lot of people would claim to be good and pure just to make the fandom look better overall, because if they don't have a decent enough public image, renting convention spaces just isn't possible.

That's why people like Uncle Kage serving as our 'public representatives' were so invaluable for many years. Nowadays though? Everyone seems to know what's up, but now won't say anything out of fear of an anti-discrimination mob storming in and anti-discriminating their careers to death.

Oh I agree about this a bit and that was the point I'm making. Surveys can be inaccurate when it comes to tracking the fandom, especially when they know that the "normies" will be seeing this, and especially if like you said the survey was slanted to get more results.

I suspect more conventions will soon follow Eurofurence's lead, and I will then have effectively been (indirectly) ran out of a community I dedicated a decade of my life to. And when they've completely taken over, they'll realize they fucked things up for themselves just as much as they fucked them up for the rest of us, because there won't be anything exciting or exotic about it anymore. It'll just be more adjectives for the same Twitter profiles that list their pronouns. Administrative positions will turn into a revolving door for others of their ilk because they were only in it for themselves to begin with.

It's already starting to happen, with new popufur cliques being formed revolving around Twitter furries. A small con in Connecticut that just started announced Deo to be next year's guest of honor and this year had Dogpatch and Boozy along with Uncle Kage. Deo, Dogpatch, and Boozy all got Twitter fame from the same event in the fandom (the RMFC collapse) with each playing different roles.

I've also noticed a general discontent in the fandom with the behavior of Twitter furries, which was on full display during the NASA tranny saga when they harassed Homer Hickam to the point of leaving Twitter. Many of them in private will talk about how they're tired of the exceptional political autists, especially since you're likely to see pride badges and "nazi furs fuck off" badges at least several times a day if you go to a furcon. It's even worse since they'll brag about using blocklists, start internet fights with people, and love to attempt to dictate who is allowed in the fandom and who isn't. This flies in the face of the "anyone can join the fandom" mentality promoted years ago and still promoted to newcomers.

It's undergoing the same far-left transformation a lot of groups had pushed on them with varying levels of success, and it's driving a lot of people away. The next few years are really going to look interesting with con staff getting in on the politics. While last year and the earlier months of this year had con staff mostly ignoring the political drama, this year really seems to have heated up with con staff taking sides.

Too bad the fandom does this more with people either on the wrong political side or who just are tired of political drama than with the actual offenders.

As the PK thread has shown, a good portion of the community does have it's head on straight but sadly there will always be those willing to apologize, ignore, and even attack people for going after these kinds of people- which is insane.
I always wonder what in their mind justifies defending known pedo's and sodomy- besides liking the art.
This kind of stuff has been looked down at for a long time in the Western world for a long list of reasons, from religious to cultural to moral.
Being a social outcast is no excuse to defend this sick shit- especially when the majority still despise and detest it.

we must have been in different furry fandoms because the way I experienced it, being a pedo was sadly basically the norm and no one did shit to stop it. it's only in recent years i've seen people publicly start to give a fuck and do something about it. and I think most furries are still stuck in that dumbass 'loli doesn't make me a pedo' mindset

Babyfur art being banned off FurAffinity was widely celebrated (even though it was only done because they need sponsorship money, in fact it's probably the reason a lot of people gave the retarded sponsorship a pass - it at least got rid of the babyfurs). InkBunny sprung up shortly after and it became the de facto containment site. Most avoid even having an account on there. There was another major backlash at the end of Rainfurrest 2015 when a bunch of babyfurs literally shit up the event.

But honestly, that isn't even what I was talking about. I meant people who literally fucked children and/or dogs for real, not just masturbate to it on the internet. There's a reason Dragoneer is so reviled - he's defended both regardless of the evidence if they happened to be friends with him.

Vehicles are constantly broken into in the Bay Area, with it being very noticeable in SF and Oakland. If you choose to leave a vehicle unattended on the street in either of those cities, you clearly didn't do your research and deserve whatever shit happens to you. You're lucky if all you make it out with is a smashed window.

Kyle Damiean Kerbersky assaulted the young relative on multiple occasions between October and November 2015, a jury decided on Tuesday.

Kerbersky, 29, raped the boy over the course of a month, then lied to Michigan State Troopers who were investigating his crimes.

The pedophile, of Muskegon, Mi, was first investigated by police after receiving a tip from Child Protective Services.

His victim’s exact age is not known, but Kebersky was convicted of first degree criminal sexual conduct against a child under the age of 13.

After Kebersky’s furry fetish was revealed by MLive, his lawyer Ryan Maesen insisted that it was not revelant to the charge.
It is unclear whether he had adopted his wolf alter-ego when carrying out the crime he was convicted of.

He faces life in prison when he is sentenced on October 2.

Furries enjoy dressing up as hybrids with human-animal characteristics.

They call their costumes ‘fursuits’ and enjoy displaying their alternative ‘fursonas’ while dressed up in them.

And this article is rather timely considering the recent posts here, especially in that for all the talk the fandom does of getting rid of the pedos nobody wants to talk about it, when one actually gets exposed.

And thinking of recent posts here - you know, even if you did get rid of the pedos and the dogfuckers and the troons and the rest from the furry fandom, what are you left with? It’s still full of shrill drama queens, narcissists, pervs, and people who are way too into cartoon animal porn to the point of matting and framing it to decorate the living room. Getting the pedos and animal diddlers out wouldnt be that much of an improvement.....
