They harassed Hickam into deleting his account, and now liars are trying to blame the idiot losing the internship not on his own actions, nor those of his 'friends,' but on "neo-nazis" or "4chan." Pretty typical to see now on Twitter, especially from lolcows that want to whitewash something that makes their group look bad and instead make it into something to attack the 'enemy' with.

I’ve found that Doublethink and hypocrisy is a integral part of being a furry. Don’t bother mentioning it to them though as they will literally respond with “lol doublethink and hypocrisy!” - which would kind of prove the point anyways, I guess.
Narcissism too is an integral part of their makeup but they’d probably not only agree with you but would be downright proud of it.

I hate to whiteknight again, but it can't be helped if I want to offer some perspective.
Furries as a whole were pretty quiet on the web for a little over a decade. We made our own shit and kept our degeneracy mostly on there. (We admittedly do have a sick, uncontrollable need to use furry avatars wherever we go; I'm pretty sure if Null started forcing regular avs on us we'd burst into flames and die.)
There was a need for us to keep to our own circles because, well, we're fucking perverts, and society is not kind to those who flaunt their degeneracy like some point of pride. Most who tried would generally get laughed out unless they were very good at interacting with normal people (and generally people that see fit to tell everyone about it aren't good at that). And you know what? That's a good thing, for everyone. Normal people don't want to see that shit, and every fucking pervert, whether they realize it or not, takes a certain thrill in going against social norms.
But, in the past couple of years, things have been rapidly changing due to this culture war going on. There's a clear, unsaid goal that really unifies these wackjob progressive types: They all hate the idea of there being any social norms. They want to be able to flaunt all of their degeneracy and/or retarded beliefs without any social consequence. And this has attracted the absolute worst of furries - particularly those who were being ostracized from within the furry fandom for being literal dogfuckers, pedophiles, or such colossal spergs that not even we could tolerate them. And, of course, rather than starting their own community, they'd rather just take ours and kick out anyone who doesn't conform to their hivemind.
I suspect more conventions will soon follow Eurofurence's lead, and I will then have effectively been (indirectly) ran out of a community I dedicated a decade of my life to. And when they've completely taken over, they'll realize they fucked things up for themselves just as much as they fucked them up for the rest of us, because there won't be anything exciting or exotic about it anymore. It'll just be more adjectives for the same Twitter profiles that list their pronouns. Administrative positions will turn into a revolving door for others of their ilk because they were only in it for themselves to begin with.
It's just a shame there's not a way to track their suicide rate.

Edit: Oh wait, the 2016 Furry Poll is done online and not at conventions? Christ have standards fallen. That explains the weird numbers.
So that puts our tranny population at roughly... 5%ish? And probably far less at conventions. But they have a way of making their representation seem a lot larger than it actually is.

I am almost certain that the most recent "Furry Survey" that they do every year had a ton of questions that pertained specifically to trans/non-binary BS. I feel like questions like that are loaded and are just priming poll takers to provide certain answers.

Well, first of all, let's not gloss over that those statistics were done at conventions, and it's always going to be pretty weird to have someone you've never met walk up to you and ask how yiffy you are.
Second, the media was a pretty big problem for a long time, all the way up to the CSI episode on furries. Since then it's been pretty quiet. But in any case, a lot of people would claim to be good and pure just to make the fandom look better overall, because if they don't have a decent enough public image, renting convention spaces just isn't possible.
That's why people like Uncle Kage serving as our 'public representatives' were so invaluable for many years. Nowadays though? Everyone seems to know what's up, but now won't say anything out of fear of an anti-discrimination mob storming in and anti-discriminating their careers to death.
I have a feeling this is going to end up like a #UniteTheRight protest, but far more pathetic in many ways.
