Depends how bad the leaks are and if that's the only immediate problem. If it's just leaking coolant you can keep on top of it, contrary to what someone said early on in the thread. Plenty of people have carried jugs of distilled water with them for slow leaks, particularly when such leaks only appear when the system is pressurized (i.e. driving) until they could get it fixed. Not a good solution but if you really gotta get to brony-town and have no other available vehicle...

I do like the mental image of Chris in full Brony-gear (including horn) standing on the side of his car by a highway with a water jug waiting for the engine to cool down enough to open the coolant system (he might not know that).

Does that happen if a car overheats? I was under the impression that they just broke down.

When I lived in the United States in 2010, I bought an old sports car for $2000. After school, I drove it to NC and gave it to my sister. Months later she got pulled over because the exhaust was spitting flames because neither of us dumb islanders bothered to give it oil.

My friend and I once did this crossing the Nevada desert at the height of summer in his ancient salvage title Toyota Camry. He still drives the thing too. Wrapping ourselves in watered down clothing and turning off the A/C probably helped but i refuse to believe that Chris would subject himself to a modicum of discomfort for even a second.

According to Marvin he also drives slowly, so that will negatively affect cooling as well.

Even if it wasn't a manual, I don't think Chris would've hung onto the bimmer because he absolutely could not afford to maintain it. Just an oil change on one is probably gonna be at least $80+ because they're usually full synthetic only.

No, he would have just driven it without changing the oil, just like he has with every other vehicle he's driven. Until the day it died for good or something shit the bed on it that he could e-beg enough money to get fixed. Then he would be where he is now, with a high interest car loan on a Ford Focus he didn't maintain...it just might have taken a little longer if he had known how to drive stock since he could have moved on to the Bimmer from the Caddy and Mitsubishi.

If I were a betting man, I'd say that Chris is going to risk taking the car to BronyCon if it requires repairs that will be too costly or time consuming. If the car craps out on the way to BronyCon, we are in for an epic, weapons grade meltdown.

Yeah, that could be a pretty epic meltdown. All of the oldfags here remember what happened the last time a lolcow had car trouble....

Chris does not need a car to reach Brony Con.

Chris is both looking and sounding more and more like a crazy old Appalachian mountain woman.

I'm not even sure at this point if he's still going for a sailor moon look, or trying to look like one of those gray alien people from Homestuck.

The resemblance is seriously reaching "uncanny valley" type levels here.
