I feel as if the one who posted those tweets just wanted to bait a fuck ton of people. Clearly it worked. Very well.

The ROC- now that is a name I haven't heard in a very, very long time.
That is how I discovered the furry fandom and the overall broadness of the uh. Interest in anthropomorphics, from sites like Yerf to VCL, FanArchive, FN, etc. I've always found that furries/anthros were an interesting subject to draw and design worlds around, but the wider spectrum of the fandom is a bizarrely interesting and often an embarrassing thing to observe. I think a lot of us who post in Animal Control are either furries, people who have some kind of loose association to the fandom, either through art, writing, etc, or those who enjoy watching the ever growing fuckstorm that the fandom has become.
I remember seeing a tweet by a furry artist that said "even if you're cis, put your pronouns in your twitter profile or you don't support LGBT". Yeah no, I'm not listing my gender/pronouns in my twitter profile.
The furries I tend to have the most respect for are the ones who can distance themselves from the fandom and actually make a product worth consuming by people who are specifically outside the fandom, and those tend to be few.I don’t think I can add much to this ‘what are furries’ thread but, I will say that to be a furry you have to be broken in a very severe, very bad way inside. Even the ones who can ‘pass’, the ones who might have what appears to be a good life and a good job and who aren’t uggos have that broken inside.
This could honestly describe far more than just furries IMO, including the people who blow thousands of dollars on Nintendo games on eBay or those nerds with a comic book graphic tee and a whole wall of figurines they bought online for high prices that they'll never get their money back on. Hell, this could even describe Chris Chan's money spending habits, he built up debt to buy Legos and numerous video games.I forget who said this but, it’s like they are people who are too nostalgic for their childhood. It’s like that ‘inner child ‘ got flipped with their adult self and now that immature, wants to do nothing but have fun, everything has to be NOW self is driving the bus. With all the thirty-something adult furries I’ve met, if I assumed they either lived at home with the parents or in a frat-house or dorm room type situation with roommates, I’ve never been wrong. Fits with the $17,000 fursuit shitshow above; they’re eternal big kids. They have to ask daddy if thats a lot of money and then whine about how that all the cool kids have one.
There's more to life than turning a profit and hoarding money, and I'm not going to begrudge anyone who spends their money on frivolous things... if they're not begging for cash on the side to support that habit like a leech. If it's their money, they can spend it on whatever. Obviously, they should spend reasonably, but I'm not going to be upset about someone blowing all their money on garbage. There are worse things to do in the world than buying shit. This could honestly describe far more than just furries IMO, including the people who blow thousands of dollars on Nintendo games on eBay or those nerds with a comic book graphic tee and a whole wall of figurines they bought online for high prices that they'll never get their money back on. They want to live their lives like rich spoiled kids, spending their money acquiring everything they wish they had as a kid but that mommy couldn't buy them. This also tends to hit poor furries hard since they will spend money they would have used to pay the bills or put aside for disasters like car breakdowns or medical visits on commissions.
Disagree, it appears a remarkable amount of furries have well-paid jobs in tech, due to their immense autism. And it's probably for the best they waste their money like that.
Or they're like Hulex, bouncing from entry level IT janitor job to entry level IT janitor job, likely from some place like Robert Half that's notorious for giving people shitty jobs. I've seen too many furries who walk call center jobs.Disagree, it appears a remarkable amount of furries have well-paid jobs in tech, due to their immense autism. A shit job is better than no job. NEET furries are the worst of the worst, by far.Or they're like Hulex, bouncing from entry level IT janitor job to entry level IT janitor job, likely from some place like Robert Half that's notorious for giving people shitty jobs. They'd have more money set aside if they moved to somewhere that costs less to live, especially if it's an IT job that can be done remotely like a lot of jobs are nowadays. You can factor the high cost of living because most of these insufferable fucks live in San Fran, Seattle or other metropolitan areas but that still won't help their case, they won't do much to better their situation.
