We have not spoken since, really. I do have juicy details from 2 other employees who quit though. Or maybe not juicy. Just the kind of stuff you would predict, really. Y'all can probably guess why they quit.

Interesting. Is your circle starting to see the Wu campaign as a scam? @Kroster says MA dems don’t take Wu seriously. Nice to see the feeling trending.

Are you worried about being priced out of Malden? Is there anything you hope to achieve on a city level to fight this?

Do you think it's meaningful? Do you think it's prophetic? Why? Why not?
I think it is meaningful in that it drives me nuts looking at it sometimes
There are a few signs in my area which indicate "Deer crossing' and have a flying deer. Folks have put a red nose on said deer and one even has a sleigh behind it.
What are your feelings on defacing government signs? Is that okay?
I don't know about "okay", but certainly a misdemeanor. And probably justified in some circumstances, such as drawing red noses on deer.
What if somebody used spraypaint to change the "RIGHT TURN OLNY" to "RIGHT TURN ONLY?"
Or, what if they changed it to "Right Turn? O'RLY?"
Yes, I support that. I have wanted to do it myself so many times, but I keep forgetting.

Interesting. Is your circle starting to see the Wu campaign as a scam?
I have no idea.
Are you worried about being priced out of Malden? Is there anything you hope to achieve on a city level to fight this?
Yes definitely, housing is becoming one of my biggest local concerns. I am so sick of hearing that restricting everything to single family homes will keep rents low. That's the opposite of what it will do. Politicians will say the most brazen ridiculous crap.

Why don't you tell us the reason they quit? Your flippant coyness is one of your more irritating quirks.

But I'll play along and guess why someone who works for John Flynt would quit.

(1) He called an employee a "fat dyke" or a "sand nigger."

(2) He lied to an employee about pay.

(3) He lied to an employee about work hours.

(4) As a stll-beautiful, stll-young woman who once considered a modeling career, did John latch onto the junk of one of the male employees, who quit after being sexually assaulted by this transgender arachnid?

(5) Did the employees quit after finding John unconscious on the floor with an empty quart bottle of NyQuil clutched in one of his tarsal claws?

(6) Did the employees quit after figuring out that John's campaign is nothing more than grifting for notoriety and some spare change?

(7) Did the employees quit after seeing John naked with a dilator in one tarsal claw and a copy of Advanced Wound Management in the other?

( 8 ) Did the employees quit after noticing that John puts no effort at all into the campaign, instead spending his days tweeting endlessly about children's games?

(9) Did the employees quit when John squealed at them like a hysterical drag queen after nearly running them over with one of his three Porsches?

(10) Did the employees quit after John ordered them to clean his kitchen but refused to provide hazmat suits?

Feel free to simply give the number of the correct reason. If none is correct, stop mincing around the issue and tell us why they quit, ye gormless eejit.

She has gotten a little better about the cry-talking. Her speech at the Dem convention was pretty on point and seemed from the heart. She had my teeth on edge for like a year there though. I talked to her speech coach when I was in DC, and he is a really amazing person. Which I think is part of why she is doing better.
...
She fired me for body slamming 8 month old babies on national television.

No doubt there was a death or serious injury at that turn, and somebody over-reacted?

Don't mind me, just assembling a wonderful quote from your replies. Thank you again for humoring me.

I downloaded and ran this, and now literally every picture on my computer is wearing a crown of dicks. My grandmother, dicks. My mom, dicks. My dog? Dicks on dicks on dicks.

Good job trolling me Warren, with your crown of dicks malware. :(
I should have known by the version number, 1.5.5.6. Minor, level, patchlevel, but no dash between release? Can't be the 6th release, there were changes made. What is this madness in the unorthodox version numeration? Trolling with the version number to 9000%.

EDIT: For old times sake
dick1-jpg.472883

EDIT2: Okay I actually downloaded it. 230 megs for this??? Ultima 7 came on about 5 floppy disks... that's not even 10 megs. Did you not strip your executable? How could it possibly be this fuckin huge? Are you including like all of directx with static libs and the full text of wikipedia 4 times over?

Anyway, the game was pretty well unplayable. Granted, I was running it under wine, but other games like Undertale work perfect under wine. I'm using a top of the line 2 year old laptop. I couldn't even get 1FPS in this game.

It started up, no real directions. It said to press spacebar to continue but that only made a "BOINK!" sound. I pressed enter and a menu popped up which let mecontinue. Ah ha! Is this a puzzle game maybe?

Then, it asked me to pick some modes. So I picked single player. Then all these debug messages were flashing everywhere, telling me shit like "TODO: Write this." Oh boy, a computer science themed puzzle game! That's right up my alley!

And then.... so like a bunch of menus also popped up with no instructions. I kinda smacked the keyboard for a while, and nothing was happening. I finally found some little text which said "Pick your troops!" so I was like "ok, fine. I'll click on these pictures of troops and get them. Right?" Well, no. I don't actually know what I did here, in all honestly I was clicking all over the place and smacking my whole keyboard trying to close this "game" before suffering any further, but instead of a quit menu somehow it popped like 500 messages up telling me "You don't have enough resources to buy a sad clown" or something like that. And then the game started. There is again about 20 more "TODO: Write this part" messages that pop up, and no further instructions. Some sort of green hedgemaze is on the screen, and there's a square moving at about 1cm per hour with the text "AI Is placing troops". Now there was a TODO: Write AI Troop picking, but it didn't click and I waited longer than I should have.

So I go back to my old strategy and start smacking around and hitting the keyboard since there's no instructions whetsoever. Finally it zooms into some portion of this hedge maze and there's a dude standing there. Oh great,, I placed a spearman. Let me try to place other troops, so I click bthe map and.... nothing. I hit the keyboard a bunch, nothing. I click about 500 times then get an error message "You must place a troop within 4 cubits of a friendly troop" So I click close to my troop and it says "You may not place a troop in friendly territory." Huh? Another puzzle!! Anyway, I found if I clicked the dark spot to generate 3 error messages it would let me place a troop close to my other troop. I could not just directly place him, I had to generate these error messages. Fun!!

From there, when I finally placed all my troops, it said "TODO: AI turn picking" a bunch of times. I thought fuck, it's not implemented I'm stuck again. But then after about a minute some red troops appeared.

I can't tell you what happened next because I watched for 5 minutes and the 1fps was just... well I couldn't take it to wait longer and see if something happened, but nothing happened for 5 minutes.

So, @W person cow -- what is the point? Did I win?

It's called being an amateur and not knowing how version numbers work I guess. It's not released as a finished version, just like a mid development playtest version. Which may crash at any time and some people are having trouble even unzipping it, lol.
What's the orthodox way to do numbers for those?

Major.Minor.Patchlevel-release

For libraries,
Major version changes are backwards incompatible. Minor patches may have some minor incompatiabilities but should remain pretty wel lbackwards compatible. Patchlevel is simple one-off fixes. Release is the "packaging" step, like if you package it it's -1. If you missed a file and have to re package it, then it's -2.

For standalone apps it's just severity of the improvements. Major is generally new contents, Minor is significant updates, Patch is very minor bugfixes, release is also packaging.

I did end up finally get it runnning and edited a review into my post. I think maybe you posted the wrong version? Or is it supposed to be like that?

You played single player game, which is intensely under construction.
The part that works best at this point is "multiplayer test", wherein you control both players. But beyond for playtesting, that's about as fun as playing chess against yourself, and people made fun, so I started spending more time fleshing out the single player version. Real multiplayer is also close to working, but a long way from done.

So, @W person cow -- what is the point? Did I win?
Thanks for all the useful feedback! I'll put it all in the development todo list!
Especially the running slow, that's a bummer. I definitely need to clean up the game assets.

Ok, I would strongly suggest adding visible directions. Oh, and making sure the few that are there are actually correct ( like where it says press space bar but really you hit enter -- unless that's a test to weed out the stupid... but I think it's a mistake ). When I did manage to figure out what was expected, input was fishy at best. e.x. having to generate errors by bad placement before I can actually place a troop in a legal spot.

Hope it turns out better soon. Are you passionate about learning programming and this is your big "apply the things I learned" canvas? Or is this just like a side thing for the patreon bux?

I think one of the major issues is the extremely slow speed it was running on your computer. You may have hit the game speed adjustment while randomly mashing keys. Or it may just be running slow for some other reason. The enter key does nothing, it sounds like you hit the spacebar and the delay before next screen was ridiculously slow for some reason.
But yes, needs much more instructions!
Hope it turns out better soon. Are you passionate about learning programming and this is your big "apply the things I learned" canvas? Or is this just like a side thing for the patreon bux?
The first one. I'm just teaching myself to code. I share versions with my friends and Patreon people in case anybody wants to playtest. And maybe some day it'll be at a point where I get patreon bux to help with the game.
But for now, people sign up as my Patreon because they support my indie filmmaking and/or my hokey political guides, maps and weird tales of activism.

I didn't run the game as I'm afraid it will harm my computer, but I would like to know what technologies/languages you are using to make it?

@W person cow - I really feel like you've smartened up a ton since coming here. You have gone from relentlessly defending Brianna for basically enslaving you for her scampaign to now you won't even talk about her, and when you do.. I get the sense you no longer see her with the rosey-eyed glasses you previously had.

I don't know if you're scared because of the NDA, but it may not even be a legal thing. There are different rules when public office comes to mind. You can't sign a contract that violates the law (well you can but it's not enforceable/valid). Also, parody is protected under free speech. So maybe you could tell stories about your imaginary friend who worked for John the Ogre?

Anyway, I appreciate that you've calmed down on the autism and are treating us like real people instead of some "alt-right troll army that is secretly working for Stephen Lynch trying to bring down The Great John Walker but is also in love with her and can't have her so that's why we've literally spent years making up all these lies." I'm proud of you, son. *tear*

Maybe it could show up in the next edition of the Debates in the Senate of Lilliput.

Well... yeah, but I would prefer if he didn't make things up. This is Brianna Wu we're talking about, not regular stuffy politicians. You don't HAVE to exaggerate. The jokes right write themselves. John is a joke, incarnate.

Replace it with any fanciful character, say a brain-damaged alien from Uranus, and you have a plausible work of fiction. I mean for Brianna to even sue (where she'd have no case because parody is constitutionally protected) she'd have to admit it was true. And if it was anything juicy... and knowing John his whole life is basically a carton of OJ, that would be too risky. It's literally all wins.

So how about it, Warren @W person cow ? Care to try your hand as a writer? You can completely disregard everything I've said above and just write some political fiction, k? [wink wink] Oh sorry... something in my eye.

( This is the lolcow cult of Brianna Wu after all.. while you're cool, we're most interested in Bribri. No offense to you, of course. Much offense to John. )

@W person cow, does the NDA specifically prohibit employees from revealing that femme fatale Brianna Wu is actually a 6-foot-5 man with male pattern baldness? Or does John assume that anyone stupid enough to work for him is too dumb to figure that out?

@AnOminous, do NDAs typically include language prohibiting disclosure of the details of the NDA?
