Quinn and Maya Kramer were super best SJW friends until Zoe got called out on her support of Maya doxxing TFYC. Kramer even contacted TFYC on Zoe's behalf as her PR agent. Now Maya does work as a PR agent for Silverstring Media and has listed Quinn amongst her clients before. However, Zoe is now saying that she has never employed Maya in any way, shape or form. The thing is that Maya made it known that she was accepting Patreon donations to do PR for indies. So, even though Zoe has deleted all of her tweets and wont be showing her personal interactions with Maya we can still see that they had a casual business relationship.

Well... it's just Zoe's half but you can see all the positive messages she's sending to Maya.

I also wanted to add that iirc Quinn was the inspiration for this little beauty back when this was all starting and before she threw Maya to the baying crowd.

It might be a bit of each. I never really hung out on their forums so I can't say for sure whether or not it would fall under their rules, but I checked their feminist frequency thread once out of curiosity and they (the forumbase in general, not just the mods) seemed to be very pro-Sarkeesian. It's possible they see #gg as some kind of misogynist plot.

Looking at their rules thread for that subforum, it's listed as "The 2014 Zoe Quinn controversy (aka 'GamerGate')", so I think that an agenda plays a part, even if it's due to genuine ignorance of the matter on the part of the moderators.

That said, I'm amused that Fighteer's mod post said "That or we close this thread, your choice." Like, what's the purpose of a "Video Games Journalism" thread if you're not allowed to discuss videogame journalism in it?

Saw an argument between both sides recently. Been pointing it out here and there.

#GamerGate guy from Latin America complains that Polygon's Tropico 5 review is too much FEELS and too little review, focusing too much on how the reviewer felt like a bully and unhappy, and how it got the lowest score found on Wikipedia's article. Anti guy replies that reviews should have the writer's opinion and that it should stay there. #GamerGate guy insists that he feels it's a patronizing opinion piece, not a proper review, since it really doesn't tell him about the game's graphical issues or bugs or whatever. Anti guy replies that reviews can't be done without one's opinion and that therefore it's a review. #GamerGate guy argues that this should've been given a different position and not be used for the game's score.

It really feels like it's going on circles now.

We live in a society of feels now, the people who are actually interested in gaming are only gonna be bullied further and further back into a corner and emotional reviewing of games is gonna become the norm.

7. He dismisses the entire affair as "An Ex-Boyfriend's Revenge."
Those familiar with this bit of flaming stupid know that Zoe Quinn and whom she may or may not have fucked hasn't been relevant to Gamergate itself in a while.

6. He whines that there's gamergate porn, citing the porn of Vivian James.
Rule 34 says you're a fucking moron, Luke. He also chooses to ignore that there's porn of Zoe Quinn, Maya Kramer, et al.

5. He brings up that a Gamergate attempt to help push for actual coverage in journalism got screwed because of a corrupt lawyer that took the money and ran.
Yes, because that totes was the fault of Gamergate itself and not the actions of one dickmongler of a legal professional. How fortunate for the internets that keen-eyed eagles like Luke McKinney stand vigil over her tubes.

So hey, how are you enjoying the movement that's already doxxed kids, got some guy who stood up for not being used as the internet equivalent of a human shield fired, and have tried to do that to several others, asshole? This one is unusual - he gives no evidence, links, or information to support this claim - just some pictures of unicorns. He then, appropos of nothing, spews out this bit of utter lunacy.

You know, I always thought the music articles and photoplasty contests were the worst things the site did. After reading that, I think this edges those out, although only slightly.
 
Still occasionally checking in on this, and while it seems that some excellent progress has been made (e.g: forced journalist apologies), the hard yards have started up where refusing to let this topic die and accumulating evidence will make the difference between consequences being enacted on this current issue, or having to wait for someone else to make a Zoe Quinn-esque mistake before anything really happens. I would vastly prefer the former, because the latter means that Zoe Quinn could totally walk away scot-free from her own stupidity, and while her judgment is ultimately secondary to exposing and denouncing the gaming websites involved in this collusion, a pathological liar and manipulator should not be made to profit out of her actions.

So currently it all boils down to donotlink-ing the participating sites and alerting the advertisers and sponsors to their rubbish. It'd be nice if the anti-Quinn side could make a piece on Gamergate that still maintains neutrality and integrity since it would fly in the face of the vitriol-laden articles that Kotaku and Cracked have been releasing on a regular basis. However, it doesn't seem likely.
