I hope this game is a massive success. Not just because it would be nice to see Mega Man return to glory, but it would put a nice bow on Mighty No. 9.

Look at the bright side, that dumpster fire needed to die in a spectacular fashion just so CAPCOM could cash in the people that actually hated it, at least Gunvolt came out of that disaster and is actually good

With E3 season continuing, some new gameplay footage has been shown:

EDIT: Here's the same stage on "Newcomer" mode. Looks like you take less damage from hits and Beat comes to the rescue whenever you fall into a bottomless pit. Basically the equivalent of those easy mode platforms from 10.

More lovely footage, this time of Fuse Man's stage:

We get further confirmation that the song we heard in the first trailer is indeed Fuse Man's theme. As for the Robot Master himself, he seems to be a bit of a pungeon master ("How could I re-fuse? Prepare to diode!"), which is unfortunately reminiscent of Mighty No. 2 (as in, the Mighty No., not the game), but at least his voice isn't nearly as annoying and we don't get distracting mid-fight conversations between our character and the boss. We also get a look at Casual mode (the mode between Newcomer and Normal), in which I believe you both deal and take the same amounts of damage you would on Newcomer but still die after falling into bottomless pits like on Normal.

I must say, game's looking great thus far. The Double Gear gimmick looks helpful but not game-breaking, the gameplay looks as tight as it was in the 8-bit games, and the stages look challenging (but reasonably so) and also as meaty as the ones in 8 (and they're not segmented into two this time around). Another thing I've noticed is that we haven't seen a lot of the classic insta-kill spikes yet, so it seems like there's more of a variety of obstacles the game throws at you and expects you to know how to tackle (e.g., the falling blocks in Block Man's stage and the beams in Fuse Man's stage). The sense of accomplishment you get for mastering the stage and boss patterns must be fulfilling as hell. But then again, I think you'd have to try really, really hard to fuck up a Classic Mega Man game.

Not exactly related to 11, but it is Mega Man news regardless. The pre-order trailer for the X series collections showcasing the new X Challenge mode just dropped:

I noticed they're actually using the Japanese names for the X5 guys. It's cool they're finally getting properly localized names after almost twenty years, but I dunno, I kind of liked the GNR names just for being delightfully goofy (Duff McWhalen, anyone?).

In case you're wondering how in the fuck the Guns N' Roses naming convention came to be.

EDIT: As it turns out, the Maverick names they're now using apparently aren't just for the trailer, either. Who wants to bet that Alyson Court is autistically screeching somewhere in Canada right now after having her contribution to X series history (which admittedly was pretty major) just utterly wiped out from memory?

If they're going through the effort to rename the GNR Mavericks, does this mean we'll also get a better localization of X6?

Honestly, the Part 2 of this Legacy Collection is a bit of a hard sell because at least two of the games are considered to be the worst in the series, and X5 is pretty divisive itself. There's only one game in the collection that's unanimously considered good (X8 ). I just think it's telling that the collections split between the best games of the series and when the series went downhill.

The X Challenge looks pretty badass though.

I think a better localization of X6 is possible (IIRC they intended to do one for the original X collection and/or the Maverick Hunter series of reboots that never got any traction), but I wouldn't hold my breath for it if I were you, especially since the Maverick names there (which ironically were pulled straight from Japan) weren't changed. If anything, I expect them to fix minor things like Magma Dragoon's boss description in X4 (where outside of Japan it should say that he betrayed the Maverick Hunters instead of the Irregular Hunters). If they do fix X6's dialogue, though, I hope they come up with a better excuse (in-game, because I know the game wasn't supposed to happen in the first place) for Zero's return, other than "I hid myself while I tried to repair myself" (for whose who haven't played the game, yes, he does actually say this). (At the same time, keep Sigma's Engrishy tantrum intact because it's fucking glorious.)

But yeah, I don't see the second collection selling as much as the first because of the reputation of certain games in it. At the same time, though, the split will probably benefit those who don't want to pay for something like X7. Sure, Capcom split the series into two for easy $$$ (and probably also because :autism:), but that's just how the X series is—it has a second half that just doesn't measure up compared to the first. And Capcom is more than likely aware of that, especially since 11's director asked the whole development team to sit down and play through all the classic and X games in preparation.

There are people who are refusing to buy the XLC because of the names being removed. Most people who played X5 were either really small kids or did not care what their names were. Most kids who played X5 in the day aren't going to get the references. Things like "Duff McWhalen" were funny, but got old after a while. People get into autistic slap fests if you dislike the localised names. I seen a GnR fan screech at someone saying that them dislking the names is insulting the band.

Sigma's drunken text in X6 was glorious, but I kind of see it fitting him. After all, he was a zombie.

People are seriously getting worked up over this shit? There are legit reasons not to buy XLC like the fact that it comes with X6 and X7, but the frigging name changes? That's autistic as fuck.

My only hope for the X collection is that they keep this glorious cutscene
back on topic though, Mega Man 11 looks really good from what I've seen of it and I will most likely buy it

I mean, I wouldn't have bought it due to X7, but I heard X8 is good and it be the first time I could even try it. Shitty band names being changed is not gonna effect the game.

Now in HD!

A new Robot Master has been revealed. Click at your own risk.

Though compared to the NetNavi of the same name from the Battle Network series, this guy is bomb themed rather than fire themed. The Discord guys must be having a field day over getting his name right. One down, five more to go.

I've also taken the liberty of renaming this thread to accommodate for anything and everything Mega Man, especially since the Legacy Collections for X are coming out this month and I sense a lot of gamers (especially young ones) will be exposed to this series for the first time. Classic, X, Zero, Legends, Battle Network, you name it. Of course, 11 will remain a big focus as it gets closer and closer to release.
