Vaguely, a load of asshurt man-children upset that it wasnt the earlier series as I recall. The cartoon is total shit and should have died in the development womb but there response was absurd. The problem is its used as a deflection from the fact these shows are of low quality.
As I mentioned further up using the basement dwellers is a cynical attempt to deflect criticism of bad product, one which I anticipate Thundercats will do. As they don't really have to worry about negative feedback from actual nerd media it makes it easy to frame the narrative that the show doesnt suck balls.
D&C getting involved might even get them a free pass as he's bassically Goldstein for sjw's at this stage, something about bigots hating it ergo it's good.

Still that is quite funny so you have a point on that account. Maybe I'm overthinking it.

Creativity isn't profitable for some reason anymore. Why spend the money on a new idea that might now work when you can make bank off an old IP that has name?

It's pretty much the same thing here, but since it looks like Steven Universe you'll get the anti-SJWs involved - and this is why I said it was going to be TTG on steroids. At least TTG didn't look like Steven Universe, so you just had whiny cartoon fans.

(And at least those whiny cartoon fans were pretty young. Now they've got middle-aged whiny nerds angry...)
