DNC sues Russian government, Trump campaign, WikiLeaks alleging conspiracy to help Trump win election
By Avery Anapol - 04/20/18 11:10 AM EDT

The Democratic National Committee is suing the Russian government, the Trump campaign and WikiLeaks, alleging that the three entities conspired to help Trump win the election.

The Washington Post reported Friday that the DNC filed the multi-million dollar lawsuit in federal district court in Manhattan.

“During the 2016 presidential campaign, Russia launched an all-out assault on our democracy, and it found a willing and active partner in Donald Trump’s campaign,” DNC chair Tom Perez said in a statement.

“This constituted an act of unprecedented treachery: the campaign of a nominee for President of the United States in league with a hostile foreign power to bolster its own chance to win the presidency."

The DNC is seeking millions of dollars in damages related to the hacked DNC emails that WikiLeaks published during the campaign, according to the Post.

The lawsuit alleges that hacking and publishing the DNC emails was part of a larger conspiracy to damage Clinton’s campaign and help Trump win the election.

The suit names as defendants several Trump campaign aides who met with Russian nationals during the campaign, including campaign chair Paul Manafort and Trump campaign deputy Rick Gates, both of whom have since been charged in special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian meddling.

The DNC lawsuit also names Trump's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., son-in-law and White House adviser Jared Kushner and on-and-off Trump confidante Roger Stone.

The suit comes months after Mueller indicted 13 Russian nationals and three Russian groups in his investigation on charges related to interference in the election.

The GOP-led House Intelligence Committee, one of several congressional committees also investigating possible collusion, shut down its investigation earlier this year, asserting that they found no evidence of collusion. Democrats on the committee blasted the panel’s decision to end the probe.

Trump himself has repeatedly dismissed the investigation into Russian meddling as a “hoax” and “witch hunt,” and has maintained that there was “no collusion” between his campaign and Russia.

I had to go back and read that article and the 66-page accusation over several times, and you know what? Fuck this, no. Holy mother of Christ, the gall of these people. You're the ones who fucking wiretapped his campaign, lied about it, and called him a conspiracy theorist and a baseless idiot before before finally sucking up and just flat-out admitting that you did it once you couldn't keep the FISA warrant suppressed anymore.

Oh, and what a big fuckin' surprise, they want to hurl an entire lawsuit at WikiLeaks, Russia, and the Trump campaign, but they want a super-special injunction to prevent any of the defendants from using evidence to prove their innocence. "We're going to blame you and an entire country because we ran the most unelectable sack of human waste this country has ever seen, and you're not allowed to defend yourself. Fuck you, pay us."

You spineless fucks tried to strip an American of his constitutional right to run for President, you falsified international evidence to try and frame him for treason, you very, very likely murdered Seth Rich for blowing the whistle on it, tried to falsify an impeachment and unseat a sitting President in defiance of a legitimate, democratic election, and did everything in your power to completely ruin a man's entire personal and professional life all because your disgustingly-incompetent bitch didn't get what she was "owed."

And now you want to blame him for it? I don't care what side of what political aisle you sit on, this behaviour is objectively unforgivable and I want to see every last person involved--right down to the son-of-a-bitch who bought them paperclips--thrown into an orange jumpsuit and marched down the cell block. There is no excuse for this; this is an absolute fucking travesty.

While it never beat the whole of the UK, the DNC is looking for at least runner up for lolcow of the year.
Just wait till Brexit tanks the economy and triggers a GE causing Corbyn to get into power. The salt from both left and right as Corbyn and McDonnell tries to implement Marxist economics over socjus will be lulzy.

At least when the Democrats whiff with this one and land face-first in the mud, they'll have to stop and actually get back to making it look like they do work.

Right?? :drink::optimistic:

how can you as a political party sue nebulous entities for losing the election, when you yourself fixed your own internal election to try and rig the national one & got it thrown out of court?

The fact that Clinton demonstrably had the FBI and mainstream media in her pockets (Comey changing the definition of negligence to exonerate her e-mail crimes; Schultz sending her debate questions in advance, respectively) never gained any traction. However, the scandal that is, in actuality, no more massive than Russians posting memes on Facebook that were seen by 12 people...

I can't help but feel that it's the leftists' West.

this is being :optimistic: of me but is it possible that the result of the election was actually hacked by Russians, Trump, & or Wikileaks?
What does "hacked the election" even mean?

Different counties in each state have vastly different voting systems, some of which aren't even computerized. So no, they couldn't have "hacked" the vote itself. So if they want to to continue to claim Russian interference, they have to claim the elaborate was influenced in some way.

Nation states are always trying to influence, undermine, and control one another. Always. They have the power and resources to do it and no real accountability, so they would have to be doing it. (And there's no reason to believe that's new behavior this election just because the internet exists.) Hell, we know America does it all the time, influencing (and more) the events in various countries. Arguably they're doing it now, as we speak, with Bashar al-Assad with the dubious-but-don't-you-dare-question-it gas attack narrative which doesn't make much sense.

So even if the DNC can point to some real evidence of Russia trying to influence American voters in some way, that's still not good enough because that's always happening on a certain low level, and they know it. They have to prove the outcome of the election itself was substantially altered by illegal Russian activity, which is why they hung their hopes on "Russian Wikileaks." After all, who can prove the leaks didn't come from the Russians? (Ignore the logical fallacy there... they certainly expect us all to.) Wikileaks can prove it, but they won't and shouldn't reveal their sources if they want to keep doing what they do.

The problem with that claim is that it doesn't matter where the info came from if it's accurate. You'll notice they've made only cursory attempts to deny the authenticity of the leaks, perhaps because that would only give the info more press. But if the leaks were fake, they could prove that to the best of their abilities, and yet they haven't. Instead, they actually denied the FBI access to the DNC servers. What flattering reason could there be for that behavior?

And, again, if they were right, why don't they have any explanation for the various info that's come out since they made the initial claim? What about the DNC data being proven to have been transferred locally? Why don't they want to discuss that after claiming it was "hacked" from their servers? For that matter, why do they continually conflate the DNC leaks with Podesta's emails? We know Podesta had a weak password and got "hacked" because of that. Why would that require a nation state's hacker resources?

Uh oh, better throw in another factor: "fake news." All those clickbait sites that annoy you online? They actually got Trump elected! Everyone hates clickbait even if they reward the sites for using it, so this is an attractive strategy, and it has the added benefit of pushing voters back to the mainstream media outlets which are far more sympathetic to the establishment. And to one party in particular.

But why do they need "fake news" if it was Wikileaks? And if Russia "hacked the election? And if Trump "colluded" with Russia? What happened to that narrative? Why do you need all these narratives to explain what happened during the election, and why have they appeared not all at once when the initial claim was made but over time? And why would the initial claim have been made without once single piece of damning evidence they clearly don't have now?

So the answer is no. There are a lot of holes in the Russia narrative, way too many to ignore. At this point, it would be far more shocking if their claims were actually true. It's clear what's going on: pile on the accusations and narratives and hope that the big pile of nothing looks like a big pile of "well, something must have happened." Because muh midterm elections.

Also, friendly reminder that the Smith-Mundt Act was amended in 2012 to remove the restrictions on U.S. government propaganda being disseminated to American citizens. Might be worth keeping in mind as we sift through the "news."

However, the scandal that is, in actuality, no more massive than Russians posting memes on Facebook that were seen by 12 people...

This always bugged me because the media disingenuously portrayed the view counts on these Russian fakenews stories. The media outlets will say 800,000 views over the course of a year and to the average Joe that seems like a crazy amount. But of course when you add in some context and realize that on a single day some stories will see millions upon millions of views, suddenly 800,000 views over a year is pretty fucking pathetic. Spoony probably gets more views than that.

I'm not about to make a judgment call either way on what actually happened, but a little honest reporting would ruin the narrative go a long way.

Did someone say The Onion? Because I thought I heard some say The Onion!

DNC Files Lawsuit Alleging Nation Should Never, Ever Stop Focusing On 2016 Election

WASHINGTON—Demanding greater accountability for the race’s outcome, the Democratic National Committee reportedly filed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit Friday alleging that the nation should never, ever stop focusing on the 2016 presidential election. “Our lawsuit lays out, in no uncertain terms, that the nation should never under any circumstances move on from the 2016 election results,” said DNC chairman Tom Perez, adding that the 66-page lawsuit filed in a New York federal court asserts that the American people must remain solely preoccupied with every little goddamn detail from the 2016 presidential race. “We’re calling on WikiLeaks, Russia, and Trump campaign officials to join the Democratic Party in our efforts to spend the next several years prioritizing endless fucking discussions about potential election interference and what that means for democracy. We believe there was a deliberate effort to throw the race to Donald Trump, and that the American people have a right to publicly re-litigate Hillary Clinton’s defeat and promote far-reaching conspiracy theories instead of concentrating on anything remotely politically constructive for the next few decades at least.” At press time, DNC officials were calling for an emergency legal injunction to block the nation from learning absolutely anything from the 2016 election.

Edit: Do I have bad-girl points or something? Why don't images load when I include them in posts?

Also, "view" doesn't mean "changed opinion" and certainly not "Was going to vote for Hillary, but after seeing a frog meme, was brainwashed into voting for Drumpf"

Really, even if Russian shitposting was occurring round-the-clock, what do you really think was a bigger influence of voter choice this cycle?

1. A person who over the last 15 years has seen their personal finances and opportunities evaporate due to globalization? With every complaint they field being thrown back in their face as the whining of overprivelaged white males who should shut up and learn some new pronouns? Who was finally seeing someone on TV saying not "Diversity is our strength!" or "Look how BRAVE these bearded "ladies" are!" but "We need to create some more jobs"?

2. Or a frog meme?

The dems are so disconnected, they believe the latter, and that influencing public opinion is JUST as nefarious as if someone broke into a ballot box and actually, you know, TAMPERED with something. You can't woo away OUR votes! That's ILLEGAL!!!!! And voters turning on our elitist asses is BREECH OF CONTRACT! WE'LL SUE!!!!!!!

They had two choices: Self-reflection on why they lost to a reality TV star and the most unpopular president in history... or blame Russia.

Kiwi farms has influenced my opinion by hosting screen caps made by blithering idiots that politically I would never want to associate with.

Sue Kiwi Farms too.

As many others have said, Hillary/the DNC weren’t running a campaign, but a coronation. She had fucking millions of dollars worth of fireworks installed at the place where she was going to graciously accept her win.

And then she lost, and lost her grip on sanity. And then her entire side, which she had bought lock, stock, and barrel lost it with her as she dragged them down.

I'm a democrat, but when I saw this in my news app I audibly groaned.

Go home, DNC. You're drunk.

Jesus Christ. I'm gonna need a fucking drink. Good thing I have leftover alcohol from movie night last night but still...my fucking god. These people are...I can't even. Idiots? Absolute fucking retards? Narcissistic douchenozzles? Is there even a way to accurately describe this level of bullshit in the human tongue?

I'm not a full on Trump supporter but by god I hope that man starts hauling evidence out by the truckload so these fucking knobs can finally shut the hell up and leave America alone.
