DNC sues Russian government, Trump campaign, WikiLeaks alleging conspiracy to help Trump win election

The Democratic National Committee is suing the Russian government, the Trump campaign and WikiLeaks, alleging that the three entities conspired to help Trump win the election.

The Washington Post reported Friday that the DNC filed the multi-million dollar lawsuit in federal district court in Manhattan.

“During the 2016 presidential campaign, Russia launched an all-out assault on our democracy, and it found a willing and active partner in Donald Trump’s campaign,” DNC chair Tom Perez said in a statement.

“This constituted an act of unprecedented treachery: the campaign of a nominee for President of the United States in league with a hostile foreign power to bolster its own chance to win the presidency."

The DNC is seeking millions of dollars in damages related to the hacked DNC emails that WikiLeaks published during the campaign, according to the Post.

The lawsuit alleges that hacking and publishing the DNC emails was part of a larger conspiracy to damage Clinton’s campaign and help Trump win the election.

The suit names as defendants several Trump campaign aides who met with Russian nationals during the campaign, including campaign chair Paul Manafort and Trump campaign deputy Rick Gates, both of whom have since been charged in special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian meddling.

The DNC lawsuit also names Trump's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., son-in-law and White House adviser Jared Kushner and on-and-off Trump confidante Roger Stone.

The suit comes months after Mueller indicted 13 Russian nationals and three Russian groups in his investigation on charges related to interference in the election.

The GOP-led House Intelligence Committee, one of several congressional committees also investigating possible collusion, shut down its investigation earlier this year, asserting that they found no evidence of collusion. Democrats on the committee blasted the panel’s decision to end the probe.

Trump himself has repeatedly dismissed the investigation into Russian meddling as a “hoax” and “witch hunt,” and has maintained that there was “no collusion” between his campaign and Russia.

I assumed WikiLeaks has been a spot pride for the "professional" type of Democrat, those on the Left that make political alignment their identity (parallel to the mirror behaviour of the pros on the Right). For this wing of the political class, hasn't the glee of WikiLeaks offerings been part the liberal lifestyle? And now they're cutting ties with them?

The 'why' and the 'how' in this story is absurd.

Wikileaks started out with Bush-era leaks, so items of interest about conduct of the US state regarding Afghanistan and Iraq. Considering how many people were lukewarm at best towards the Iraq War back in the day it let the left leaning peacenicks (who really hate the west conducting any military action, no matter how justified) to celebrate them and suck on Assange's dick and laugh off any claims by him or others that they were a neutral organisation that was prepared to leak anything.

Then Wikileaks continued to do just what it said it would, against a democrat. As such, they became Satan Incarnate and persona non grata among the Democrats who wound up with egg on their faces as much as the Reps did back in the day.

So yeah, whole thing is run by political autism.

I just had a thought. This is an election year right, meaning that the Democrats would need their funds for the campaigning. This means that they'd want a speedy resolution to the case as to not bleed out the little funds they have left. Even if an I.P. ban would completely cut off Russia from the rest of the internet, they wouldn't. The tension with Russia is easily understandable. Putin is a mobster and an Oil and Petrofuel Oligarch. His wealth and power and that of his nation, following the fall of the Soviet Union was based on the scarcity of such fuels and the fact that he controlled an enormous amount of them. Then came Fraking and a US quietly determined to go energy independent. This drove oil prices to the lowest they had been in decades nearly bankrupting him, and fully bankrupting a numberof his client states. All of Russian's actions since then have been about disrupting the West in order to disrupt the oil glut. It's why he funds ALL the environmental groups. Why he funds BLM and Antifa. etc.

People flock to strong leaders in times of crisis and uncertainty (:hitler: ) because they want someone to protect them from the chaos. Putin's goal is fuel chaos to keep himself in power - this is why he funds/arranges funding for fringe opposition groups inside Russia as well. He wants his people suspicious and afraid: "Sure the occasional reporter disappears without a trace, but if we don't vote for Putin we'll be caught in the cross fire as the Nazis & the blacks fight each other. Putin's the only candidate strong enough to keep both sides in line!"
