DNC sues Russian government, Trump campaign, WikiLeaks alleging conspiracy to help Trump win election
By Avery Anapol - 04/20/18 11:10 AM EDT

The Democratic National Committee is suing the Russian government, the Trump campaign and WikiLeaks, alleging that the three entities conspired to help Trump win the election.

The Washington Post reported Friday that the DNC filed the multi-million dollar lawsuit in federal district court in Manhattan.

“During the 2016 presidential campaign, Russia launched an all-out assault on our democracy, and it found a willing and active partner in Donald Trump’s campaign,” DNC chair Tom Perez said in a statement.

“This constituted an act of unprecedented treachery: the campaign of a nominee for President of the United States in league with a hostile foreign power to bolster its own chance to win the presidency."

The DNC is seeking millions of dollars in damages related to the hacked DNC emails that WikiLeaks published during the campaign, according to the Post.

The lawsuit alleges that hacking and publishing the DNC emails was part of a larger conspiracy to damage Clinton’s campaign and help Trump win the election.

The suit names as defendants several Trump campaign aides who met with Russian nationals during the campaign, including campaign chair Paul Manafort and Trump campaign deputy Rick Gates, both of whom have since been charged in special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian meddling.

The DNC lawsuit also names Trump's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., son-in-law and White House adviser Jared Kushner and on-and-off Trump confidante Roger Stone.

The suit comes months after Mueller indicted 13 Russian nationals and three Russian groups in his investigation on charges related to interference in the election.

The GOP-led House Intelligence Committee, one of several congressional committees also investigating possible collusion, shut down its investigation earlier this year, asserting that they found no evidence of collusion. Democrats on the committee blasted the panel’s decision to end the probe.

Trump himself has repeatedly dismissed the investigation into Russian meddling as a “hoax” and “witch hunt,” and has maintained that there was “no collusion” between his campaign and Russia.

That ratio's off to a great start. Hey, here's an idea: If you want to protect elections how about you wrangle us up some fucking voter ID registrations? You wouldn't need an idiotic lawsuit and you'd actually gain some goddamn clout for the first time in two years.

Friends don't let friends decide to file major lolsuits against their political opposition on 4/20.

I just wanna know if/how the media will cover this. Will they act just as insane and support this? Will they refuse to cover it because anyone with a synaptic nerve can see how damaging this is to the dem's PR? Will Chris finally start getting better?

It's so batshit that even CNN is using terms like "allegedly" and "conspiracy", and the entire report so far is astonishingly lukewarm, at best. You know you've really gone sailing over a cliff when even CNN and its anchors are looking at your angle and going, "Dude, chill."

The only way the cringe could get more delicious is if they then declare their intention to sue Gamergate for laying the foundations for trump to steal the election

Q-Anon is a LARPing exceptional individual to give Boomers something to do and /pol/ is almost completely full of shit when it comes to politics on any side of any aisle. They might provide useful snippets once every week or two, but by-and-large almost everything that comes off of that platform is unsubstantiated, unsourced bullshit.

I agree with this, never go to /pol/ because it's a whirlpool of shit. When something comes outside of /pol/ then usually someone who knows something has vetted it.

This is so fucking embarrassing. It's like a cringe compilation on a national scale.

I think it's a shit fit being thrown because nothing has been found even after raiding trumps attorneys office. This stinks like Hillary.

It's lunch time and my blood sugar levels must just be low or something, but I'm literally shaking with excitement right now, oh my fucking God I can't believe this is happening. By election day, we're all going to be dead from laughing so hard because our hearts bursted from all this salt clogging up our arteries.

And the Trump campaign has pushed out an official response to the DNC's lawsuit that's effectively the legal equivalent of, "Do it, faggot!" Get your game faces on, this is gonna' get spicy.

I have never seen, or heard of an autistic slapfight at this level of government before. I mean I know there have been various scandals (the 1800’s can be a riot if you read between the lines), but still... damn.

This has got to be one of the dumbest and most insane things I've ever seen a group try to do. The best I can think of, is the DNC is gambling on stumbling across something damning during discover; but as the Trump campaign has already pointed out discover works both ways.

From a risk/reward standpoint they have nothing to gain by doing this.
If the lawsuit gets thrown out, the RNC gets to run ads mocking them and can force Democrat candidates to give their position on the suit. This means you could end up with high profile Democrats in contested races being forced to either publicly support the lawsuit or distance themselves from it.
If the lawsuit gets to the discovery phase, holy fucking shit they are fucked. Even if they find some questionable stuff in the Trump campaign's records, that stuff needs to outweigh all the damning shit we know are in the DNC's records.

Now, what if the Trump campaign decides to counter-sue the DNC and wins a judgment? They don't even have to go to a trial for this to happen, if the suit is thrown out the judge could still order the DNC to pay the Trump campaign's legal fees. And considering how far in debt the DNC actually is, this could open the door to another Hillary coming in and buying their way to power or the DNC being forced to file for bankruptcy in an election year.

This sounds as if though the DNC has caught themselves in a catch 22 in a desperate bid to try to get their funds back, and oust Trump from the White House. It's amusing to me that they, after Trump got elected, still think that the public will just ignore what they're trying to do here and/or buy it as being anything other than the frivolous lawsuit predicated on unsubstantiated bullshit just because the alphabet soup media companies are going to push their narrative.

Well, I think they've gone and done it now, they're two wheels over the edge at this point if they're doing this shit, and all anyone will have to say about it is

They're so far beyond doubling down at this point that they've reached scientific notation.
