Phil Fish closed his Twitter. The war on SJWism is going toward the Allied Powers now, it seems, all it took was the big unity push.

And, THIS:

Is this tweet real? I can't see it on her Twitter, but then again...I'm completely ignorant of Twitter. Also, wow. I've just finished reading a ton of logs and some of her tweets. They feel like they've been written by an angry 14 year old girl, not a "professional".

Wow, I really wanna slap that guy. Maybe I'm the only one who got a condescending tone from his responses to people, but damn.

No, you're definitely not alone. The guy completely ignores a lot of points (Wizardchan's possible innocence, the fact that she seems to be pretending her stuff is being "hacked", etc.) and sticks to the "Poor Zoe!" defense. I get what he says, he doesn't want people believing "bad things" about Zoe just because they wish them to be true, but he's also not willing to consider that thet *might* be true.

No, it's a fake, and I wish people would stop posting it. I'm seeing it all over the place and it isn't doing anyone any favors. Frankly I'm disappointed with a lot of people in this situation, but in an internet shitstorm I guess I can't expect people to actually know what they're talking about.

So, I just ran through Depression Quest and while I am not sure I would call it a game, it certainly hit home with me. Frankly, this makes me even more irritated with Zoe, this could be a really useful tool in helping people with depression. [...] any usefulness this game would of had went right out when the author decided that high reviews were better than integrity. That seriously pisses me off/

Yup.

I think Depression Quest is a brilliant game and I love it no matter what.

The whole situation just bugs me because I care a lot about works of art that actually have a valid, needed, meaningful purpose. Art shouldn't get trampled by controversy surrounding the creators.

And all of sudden, here, we have a legitimate concern that it could actually happen. Why? The world is stupid like that.

I said earlier that video games are a legit form of art because this sort of shitstorms happen. Clearly, intriguing discussion is taking place. On a second thought, I have to amend that stat statement: Yep, video games are definitely getting there, but the outcome of this shitstorm will perhaps give us a bit of insight on how well the people surrounding the games work. Games are getting better, but the game industry, game journalism and gamer community are all still dysfunctional at times in many interesting ways.

Phil Fish closed his Twitter.

Must be a day that ends in Y.

Shame there's no "Press 1" rating on this subforum, because that cover is realistic.

I don't know if I'd call it brilliant, but it's at least a game. Not much of one, but it was a novel attempt at something.

And I agree with you that it is fair to expect some separation between a creator and the thing they create. I don't agree with all my favorite authors and musicians, but I can appreciate the work they provide. But in Quinn's case, she doesn't deserve that. Her case is incredibly unethical, and it is fair that people actually discuss this issue.

And I would say that video games have a long way to go towards being considered art because of the nebulous stranglehold that video game 'journalism' has over the nature of what topics can and can't be covered. It's ridiculous to see RPS running stories about the Cards Against Humanity guy being accused of rape but not covering Zoe Quinn fucking her boss, a guy who recommended her game and donating money to her, and a chairperson on an indie gaming recognition board.

That's incredibly sad, but hopefully this story will continue to spread. At the very least Phil Fish has once again closed his twitter account, so the industry is once again safe from that buffoon.

Hey all- I really got nothing new to provide to this conversation, but I thought I'd toss you all a bone:

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/for...-Quinn-and-the-surrounding-controversy?page=1

The Escapist, aka, the Jim Sterling Three Ring Circus, is having a bit of a shitfit over the whole Zoe Quinn debacle. Essentially it seems that Greg Tito, the site's EIC has been more or less ousted as being a white-knight in this whole deal and appears to be censoring a fuckton of people on the Escapist that don't agree with him all the while trying to cover his ass in the process.

I warn you though- one of the reasons I left posting the Escapist a long time ago is because the community there excels at writing text walls of rhetoric and having nothing to contribute, but there is some interesting points brought up if you care to look. I'm just amused by how many banned and suspended accounts there are now. It's like a admin carpet bomb went off.

IMO, if anything comes out of this, I want to see game journalism implode upon itself. The game journalism business, SJWs, whoever else, I'm just pulling out the lawn chair and watching the dumbasses eat each other alive.

Even if it were, I'd probably be more "bugged" that an orchestra refuses to play, like Lohengrin or Tristan und Isolde because Richard Wagner was a proto-Nazi than someone doesn't play a free game because its creator can't manage her Borderline Personality Disorder. An orchestra gives me a unique scenario to hear music in which I can't replicate very well without them. Nobody on planet earth with an internet connection and an interest can't go play Depression Quest right now rather than going on about muh community like a teenager talking about love or her favorite band.

I can't stand this woman and the people who support her.

She cheated on her boyfriend, had sex with five guys for publicity, and stopped honest female game developers from making games.

What a pile of garbage.

My Final Thoughts

In the last two weeks I have been trying to take a stand against pre-censorship mainly via Twitter. Due to the inherent lack of face-to-face interaction, context, and the inflection of my voice, I can see this was the wrong way to go about it . Anyone can misquote me and see whatever they want in my words, and that has become apparent.

At this point, I feel like I'm straying from what it is I really aim to do, and that is bring people smiles through comedy. That said, comedy is a powerful tool for speaking your mind and igniting social change. I have realized that debating this on twitter is not helping the cause, or leading to any progress. I really appreciate those who have been supporting me, and even those who have been criticizing me as it is your right as a human being.

When I think of all the people that inspire me, I realize that they didn't sit on Twitter arguing with people. They made provocative stand up routines or films about how they felt, and that is what translated their opinions and ideas to other people. I am going to officially disengage from this argument because there is no way for either side to truly win. I can see now that it doesn't bring good in any capacity to squabble as we have been. I am not backing out of this because I am giving in, I am backing out because I think there are much more fruitful ways as a whole to spend our energy trying to solve the problems we face, big or small. I am going to dedicate myself to my work, and maybe through that you will see what I have been trying to say all this time.

Thanks for sticking with me on this, whether or not you agree! :D!

I'd just like to say that I love SJW logic. Calling a girl out for repeatedly cheating on her boyfriend is slut shaming, but if a guy checks you out on the subway, he should be viewed as a rapist.

There needs to be more outrage and info about the guys who have slept with her. There's so much shit on Zoe and how she has operated but the problem is there is still tons of misinformation going around about the five guys and what exactly they did for her. Right now it seems to be about the internet VS a manipulative bitch when it should be the internet VS a clique of people in the video game journalism industry who are treating it like it's junior high.
