Haven't there been several people who actually cut their guns up in such a way to make them SBRs and other dumb shit? I have seen several do it with airsoft shit as a means of getting in on the #slactivism without actually having to buy a gun.

The guy who filmed himself cutting the barrel of the AR-15 committed a felony, since he created a Title II weapon with a >16 inch barrel without a class 2 (manufacturer) or class 3 (SBR owner) license.

correct, although he is unlikely to face any charges as the BATFE has bigger fish to fry.
...without a class 2 (manufacturer)...
you need type 07 or type 10 Federal Firearms License (a business license, not for individuals generally other than the type 03) in order to manufacture Title II items. i possess a Type 07 FFL, allowing me to manufacture most Title I and Title II items, but not AP ammunition or destructive devices.
...or class 3 (SBR owner) license.
not true. there is no special license to own any Title II weapon unless your particular state has something (in California it's a Dangerous Weapon Permit). the SOT (Special Occupation Tax) classes are tax filing statuses that you append to your Schedule (C usually, but if nothing else it's on Schedule M. if you're in individual like a pawn broker it might be on a 1099 instead of a 1040). typically this is form ATF Form 5630, where the BATFE collects the annual tax for the IRS.

SOT Class 1 is an importer, SOT Class 2 is a manufacturer (i have this SOT, and also pay an annual tax to the TTB, the Tax and Trade Bureau), and SOT Class 3 is for dealers. they specify different rates for taxation based on the precise nature of your business.

there were other SOT types for tobacco, alcohol, certain Schedule 1 drugs, et c, but i think those were repealed in the 80's.

too many people somehow think you need a special permit to own a Title II from the feds or that a "Class 3 license" exists. neither is true.

Was finally able to get optics for my AUG A3. Decided to go with the Trijicon TA33 3x30mm Compact ACOG with the green horseshoe dot BDC reticle. It's honestly the perfect optic for this rifle. It's lightweight, rugged, the optical clarity is bright and crisp, and the magnification is just the right balance IMHO for close up targets up to targets at the practical ranges for 5.56mm. I couldn't be happier with how my AUG has turned out. I'll be picking up either a BOBRO or LaRue Tactical throw lever mount for it this week. All I really need now is a tactical light and sound suppressor and it'll all be complete for this project. But that'll have to wait a while.

Very nice your dudeship.

I'm a bit a Trijicon snob so that does help.

Yeah, Trijicon, ELCAN, and U.S. Optics are my top three choices for combat optics. In fact, I'll be getting a 1-8x U.S. Optics scope with a BDC reticle for my Mk14 when I can start buying firearms and accessories again. For now, though, all my money is going into buying a house.

Finally got around to building my ar. Going to go shoot it tomorrow already love it though.

Sorry for shitty image quality my phone is trash.
Congrats and enjoy it.

Also range report nigga? Did she do what how you hoped?

Since I've been hoarding and reloading a lot lately, I gave away 20 rounds of 7.7 each to a few buddies. This summer we are gonna banzi charge or some shit. Type 99's are pretty chill I want to get the monopod for my good one.

That a Vortex sight? I love mine. I have the Strikefire II with the red/green option. Glad I bought it instead of shelling out for an aimpoint.
Yeah, it's actually the Strikefire II also. Definitely a great sight.

Congrats and enjoy it.

Muh bad, she did great. I'm couldn't be happier about her performance. This whole experience has been great, I think there is good chance I will be building more and continuing customizing the one I have.

Interesting front grip, what is it and where can I find one?

@Duke Nukem it is indeed the Hera Arms CQB foregrip. It suits the AUG perfectly. Works really well on other rifles as well. It was designed for the AR, but it'll fit on anything with a long enough Picatinny rail. They go for about $40, so they're pretty affordable, and very high quality.
