Is it even legal to get signatures using a line like that?

The way Brianna has written that tweet, it makes it look like people are thinking they are signing a petition for increased funding for the MBTA. Most MBTA users will be on board with that and sign on.

But they aren't signing on for increased funding for the MBTA, they are providing signatures for an idiot to get on a ballot.
Seeing someone wanting you to sign something while waiting for or getting off your train in Boston is looked upon just below our view of the homeless guy pissing behind a support column.

John lies like a motherfucker. Only place that shit will work is Cambridge and 99% of those kids aren't Mass voters.

They got 8 signatures at the metro station. Killing it indeed. Bonus person working for a well orchestrated campaign showing them how it should be done.

I wonder if they remembered to ask if they were registered Democrats or not....

I have to hand it to Warren. Getting $1000 to wake up at 4pm and harass strangers on behalf of a ghoul is a pretty sweet deal

Ask him, Daniel. Go ahead.

Loving Brianna's solution to literally every fucking problem in the universe: just increase funding! No solutions or plans, just throw money at it until it fixes itself. Someone needs to compile a list of all the times she said shit like this. Off the top of my head: Transportation, Animal Shelters, Cybersecurity, Climate Change, Tech Businesses.

I'm sure MA is just swimming in taxpayer money. Who's going to pay for all your promises? Patreon? But Natalie needs that money for her unborn child...

Imagine being 42 years old, having no real job, and waking up 4pm every day just to make a fool out of yourself. Such is the life of Brianna Walker Wu Bruce Warren Lynch.

holy fuck they are so disorganized. don't they have any LISTS? You'd think such a tech savvy candidate as Wu would understand how you can leverage a SQL database of people in the district so you aren't talking to random people but actual dems in your district, so you know -- their signature counts.

the signatures lynch is getting are almost guaranteed to be "problematic" come submission.

This whole thing would make for some funny fucking television. Those 500 cable channels that solely broadcast reality TV completely missed the boat with this fiasco.

What are you guys naysaying about? I'm sure all these people randomly pulled off the T are all registered Democrats in District 8.
:optimistic::optimistic::optimistic:

If she were organised in the slightest, she'd have spent the last year finding and registering supporters and have a list of 10 or 20 thousand of them in the district by now. Getting these signatures then would be a simple matter of sending out and email to ask them to sign her papers, and have them book a time slot for a volunteer to call round to collect the signatures. You'd get 3-4K easily that way.

Wu spent the year fucking about, so of course it's a mad scramble of ad hoc events without any hint of forward planning. It kills me that they don't have any leaflets to hand out to all these random people they're talking to. It's so much wasted effort since the person goes home with only the vaguest clue of who you are and no way to get more information.

MBTA gets less than 1% of their budget from federal funds because a local transit board in Mass. has no reason to be receiving federal dollars in the first place. Someone needs to remind Wu that they’re running for a federal office, not a state or local position. Actually, don’t - it’s fun to laugh at their complete ignorance of government.

Not to mention that standing outside of a metro station with a clipboard getting signatures is just about the most autistic and least efficient method of obtaining signatures in the history of man. I mean come on - you’re catching people that are commuting in a densely populated area - there’s a huge likelyhood they’re not even district residents, not even accounting for party or registration status.

0. She hasn't been to any town meetings. There hasn't been a single town meeting in her district in the past month. She's been to caucuses, which are not town meetings. She lives in Massachusetts, wants to be a politician here, and doesn't even know what a fucking town meeting is.

Also, signature sheets are certified by the registration of the town or city, so signatures need to be grouped by town or city. Each signature sheet should only have registered voters for that town, because you give the sheet to the town's registrar, and they certify the signatures and cross off anyone who doesn't qualify (including people who don't live there).

That's why the caucus is the best place to get signatures, and town meeting is the second best place: you don't need to worry about what town the person lives in for either, and you just need to confirm what party they're registered with at town meeting.

Do you think he has multiple signature sheets for different towns while he's standing outside the T? Doesn't seem likely.

Who needs plans or leaflets when you have $8k in video equipment?

For all of the care she takes now to cosplay certain aspects of a normal human progressive, her shitty attitude toward her fellow man always comes out in her tone. Her hands typed “shooting fish in a barrel” while her mind clearly said “Can you believe these fucking idiots?”

Once a classist sociopathic asshole, always a classist sociopathic asshole.

Has she ever once utilized the MBTA? I doubt it.

Guarantee John will NOT give any money to improve the T and those people got bamboozled.

While this all is true, (and it would be hilarious to see their reeeeeactions if they just "barely made it" - only to have most of their signatures thrown out), it also doesn't make a lick of difference. These speds aren't going to gather anything even close to 2k signatures, so they won't be handing in a single sheet to be verified.

Warren will probably stay at his current pace gathering ~20ish or so every few days for at least awhile longer, but John will quickly grow tired of the shiny new thing before mid March and find something else to brag about on twitter. Just like he did with his new exercise bike, his Audi, his video game, his dogs, his VR rig, his current Porsche, his professions... and on and on.
