Heard of this moron a while back on ED and through the commentaries on that "Smeged Up YouTubers" video of his (they also made fun of the other people on there, including A-Log and the towel wearing, self-titled "Cartoon Hero of Tomorrow"). Which makes me ask the very important question of "Which videos are worse- both Smeged Up YouTubers? Or the Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo review?"

I find the Teen Titans one worse. At least the Smegged Up YouTubers did make some good points here and there and it's unintentionally entertaining because of A-Log, DLAbaoaqu's first appearance and some jokes which are so bad it's good.
The Teen Titans one for me it's so bad it's bad. The jokes are terribly unfunny and about 50% of the review is basically Hardcore Kid sperging about Teen Titans Go!, the sixth season of Teen Titans, how the creators of Teen Titans Go! didn't watch the original series, the shippings especially the RavenXBeastBoy one, unfunny R34 jokes, unnecessary Robot Wars cameos and more. At least the Smegged Up is more to the topic rather than sperging about something else.
Also, oh yeah, Hero of Tomorrow. Didn't follow him much now, but gonna leave this here:

If I'm not mistaken, didn't Busy Street hated Hardcore Kid back in 2011 and some of its members actually went to TGWTG forums to argue or something? Been a long time, but I believe there was something between them.
Anywhere, I remember watching his videos back at that same level. I ran into Chris's video because of him. Can't comment on his videos since its been a while, have to rewatch them someday. As with The Cartoon Hero, he's alright from what I recently seen or remember. I agreed with his review on Solatorobo minus the story segment at the end. He made a weird review on Xenoblade where he didn't really beat it, but played enough. The humor doesn't do it for me from what I seen. Then again, I haven't seen all of his videos, so I'm willing to give it more of a chance.

Re: jontron drama: I think it would by wise for popular video-makers to invest in some PR types to help when they start pulling shit like this. It's happened to so many of these people and if they really want to be taken seriously as performers, they really need to evaluate the way they interact with people instead of handling their own drama as classlessly as possible. Many of these guys are part of a collaborative website (jontron and normal boots, spoony and (formerly) tgwtg, etc. I don't see why these sites don't have some kind of PR rep to handle this kind for thing.

it's probably because of the blurring of professional and personal life via twitter. my twitter right now is a personal account, in that no one reads it and no one cares. if tomorrow i was a famous musician and i started talking shit on it, it would no longer be a personal account.
he's fucking up pretty hard, at the start of this (saying 'retard' + defending it) i thought he'd walk away just fine without even apologizing. however he's compounding it with a bunch of other shit and it ain't gonna end well if he keeps this pace.

Wouldn't really call JonTron an "angry" critic. He's more "buffoonishly flustered stream of consciousness" than anything.

JonTron is very well read in the stuff he talks about (mostly), and the production values for his show are extremely high. He releases videos sparingly and you can tell a lot of work goes into them. He has an amazing (character) personality because he's an extremely dark humorist but it's hidden under layers of flashy graphics, emphatic vocal ranges, and his sidekick Jacques. I don't always agree with his opinions on video games but I personally can understand and appreciate the sheer volume of work that goes into not just the show, but his character as well.
If anything, the people giving him shit about the "retarded" remark aren't worth knowing anyways. Neil Cicirega was permabanned off of Something Awful for acting like a complete fucking tool and he hasn't been relevant since The Ultimate Showdown. JonTron said something "bad"; that's the nature of dark humor. If they can't handle that then I hear Gabriel Iglesias has his DVD's on sale in the Walmart bargain bin.

Jon is free to say what he wants. He is free to stand by what he says. But he ultimately has to deal with how people react to what he says. Freedom of speech gives him the right but it does not excuse him from the consequences.

Tim Schafer - I have no idea why he's become a massive SJW. He's even written compelling female characters in his video games. (Elaine Threepwood, Mercedes Colomar, I mean the list goes on) and all of those games came out more than 10 years ago. I have to assume he's only watched one of her videos and just thinks "well there should be better female characters in gaming" and recommends it based on that without thinking about it that much.

Neil I can only assume is just uninformed about this whole thing. Similar to how ReviewTechUSA immediately demonized 4chan for doxxing Phil Fish until it was pointed out to him that it was likely done by Phil to get attention. Then again he has a history of being a hipster so I dunno. Could swing both ways really.

To be honest I don't get all the hate for JonTron either, he was just making his opinion known in his usual style. The AVGN said similar things a million times (in-character, but still) and nobody gave a fuck. Maybe that was before the whole SJW witch-hunting complex was fully developed.

It wasn't him calling the Playstation Now retarded that got people upset. It was when someone politely asked him not to use that word and Jon in turn called him retarded that got people in a huff. Then Jon goes on to defend himself, saying he's not going to censor himself because he's a "morally just person." Then this exchange happened
And then when someone linked him a picture of people killed by the Klan in the name of "social justice," Jon agreed to the comparison.

phil's a complicated subject and i don't know enough about his forays into social progressiveness to know if he's being ignorant. i'd bank on him being well-meaning but being senselessly abrasive to the point of ignorance, as that's his m.o.
jontron is sticking to his "but what about the men" points, at first i thought he was being that guy that has to play devil's advocate, but no i think he really believes that the oppression + poor representation men face is the same as that which women face with the bonus that feminist ideology doesn't include men AND that they don't care about video games. (hint: wrong on both counts. feminism obviously includes goals for men and women the largest demographic in gaming now)

If he had said "The PS4 is gay" I could understand it, as one could interpret as him effectively saying "gay = bad", but retarded as a word has taken a different course.
It's always been derogatory towards dem slow-in-the-minds, but it seems to have evolved enough to become synonymous with stupidity rather than mental disabilities.
