Yeah. Maybe Jana did? I kind of stopped reading about the Duggars but I do remember one of them was trying to study midwife work. Apparently the only jobs you can get in this family are midwife and nurse. I also remember Jinger was saying she wanted to leave and work and well, now she's married and knocked up, so that won't happen.
Do people still suspect that Josiah is gay? I do remember he disappeared for over a year and eventually returned home but everyone thought that he went to some "pray the gay away" conversion camp.

They are culturally dead, and only good for making more kids. They aren't Mormon garbage, so at least they are good for something. They read next to nothing, and therefore do not care about the wider culture and its influence. they stick their heads in the sand and hope they will be left alone, despite all the evidence to the contrary. Jim Bob was smart though, and got himself an in to the establishment, ensuring atleast a small measure of protection. The Quiverfulls are, amazingly, less delusional and more proactive than Tricky Dick Spencer's kind, in that at least they contribute to the future. They are actually doing something about a percieved problem, and are directly investing a heavy amount of effort into the world, and so are better than the Retard Christians who actively refuse to really oppose evil in any real way and hang on to Christ's word so hard as to proclaim men like Charlemagne evil for raising his sword in their defense.

They do not engage in wider culture, for good or ill, but they are among the least bad and least delusional, they recognize effort would be required, of groups claiming to oppose the established order. It is certainly popular amongst certain men, men who seek out and find certain women, but it is still less prone to abuse than LDS and their polygamy. Far fucking less.
 
I'd put them on the same level with the abuse in the fundamentalist LDS groups, considering the sex abuse Josh did with his sisters and that babysitter and the parents barely doing anything to help the daughters. Or the son, for that matter.

Earlier in the thread there was a mention of a woman facing the consequences of severe overuse of reproductive organs and basically bleeding to death. Start with that shit to accuse these people with.

Don't start with shit that the victim neither feels wronged, hurt, or even realizes they are uncomfortable, and are otherwise unaffected, relying on confessions from the perpetrator for anyone to even know something happened. Even though its massively fucked up he even bothered with the toddler/preschooler, don't start with it. It won't hit hard enough. Like, had it only been him looking at some naked tits or feeling them but never leaving any marks, and it stayed within 2 years of his age, it would never have made the news.

What Duggar did was gross. But if you want to attack these people, find the real monsters.

Like, if the Amish ever get covered, don't bother mentioning the one time a mouthy brat got slapped for being a brat, AND THAT WAS THE END OF IT, and there was no evidence or mention of other kinds of striking. Mention a child or two found covered in bruises on their back, after being beaten like slaves.
 
There's no point in comparing what religion does the worse sexual abuse shit. It's all fucked. Mild or severe. Josh Duggar is shit and so is the FLDS. So are cults that pull sex abuse shit.
 
And really, the interesting part, is that yeah, he confessed and Jim thought the matter settled.

But over a year later, something else was going on, or happening, that Jim changed his mind. That's the real trail, the real hint at something else. Jim was considering taking some action about it, when previously, he was content to basically ignore it and be content that the behavior had stopped. Then something convinced him that it either hadn't or something new had happened.

Screaming at the wrong fence and barking up the wrong trail.
 
Yeah, confessed and had to speak in front of a bunch of adults. I know the details on it. Who knows, if they had chosen to send him to some place to get psychological help it probably wouldn't have eventually gone in the news. I thought the confession thing was something lighter, like masturbation or something. It was some vague description and was a rumor at the time.

There was supposed to be a marriage to another girl and the family changed their mind or something. What Jim and Michelle did is pretty common in those hardcore religions though. They don't usually give their kids proper psychological treatment.
Screaming at what? I'm just saying the family sucks. Yeah they're not as severe as other horror stories but they're still shit and in the media.
 
I used to know a family just like this, they had at least five kids, were Christian & psychotic.

The thing about families like this is that the more kids you have, the more and more of them have to do without. The kids I knew in that family only had like a bed, a dresser and a single personal item, they had a game room in the basement that no one was allowed to use and just gathered dust & we found a bondage whip in the garage. I can't see why anybody would want to be around these people.

There was a family similar to the Duggars that I knew of. Except there were only 9 kids and they lived in a van. And the father was obese so I know who was getting all the food in that family. :lol:
My Catholic aunt has a similar family too but they're poor and play music for money. They went on a trip to Africa once for missionary work but weren't able to pay for shots and one of the daughters got sick and died, and my uncle had to fly the corpse back.
So yes, going without is definitely a big problem in huge families like that.

The van family weren't even Catholic. IIRC they were Presbyterian, or Baptist. They were one of the hardcore Christian religions, maybe. Are major Christian groups against condom? Maybe they were doing the whole "be fruitful and multiply" thing.

If anyone wants some quiverful entertainment, I recommend watching the Duggar episodes where they go to London and Scotland. The moment where they're told by some guy that he doesn't believe in god is awkward and funny.

There’s a reason they’re called the Quiverfulls. There’s a verse in the Bible that talks about how you gotta have kids because each kid is an arrow in the quiver of God to spread the One True Jesus. So, fill the Lord’s quiver. He will not give you more than He believes you can handle. But then at the same time not having as many kids as possible as quickly as possible, even through methods like NFP is a no-no because as a wife you HAVE to be ready and willing at all times, since it’s your job to make sure your husband doesn’t stray and fall to some whore who’s on birth control.

Interesting that major Christian groups are that similar to old Catholicism beliefs. The sex lives with the Duggar women must be so horrible, honestly since the Duggar men aren't going to be that well informed about sex, and you know the women are only going to have sex for procreation. Plus Jana is going to be the virgin Old Maid who is too old for marriage and looks after kids for most of her life.

They’re actually gifted a book about fulfilling sex when they get married. Not sure if they actually read it, but it’s kinda neat that they’re even given a book that discusses the female orgasm.
