After decades of relegating its LGBTQ characters to the sidelines, Marvel really turned things around with America and Iceman, its first two ongoing series featuring queer characters as their titular leads. Both books have been important additions to Marvel’s ever-expanding portfolio, but it seems as if the time has come for at least one of them to end. March’s comics solicitations are out this week and a number of titles including America are conspicuously missing, which heavily implies that the titles have been canceled. This afternoon, Marvel editor Heather Antos confirmed that Gwenpool, another title missing from the March solicits, was definitely canceled, further suggesting that any titles missing from the lineup as of today are done for.

The thing about Jeph is he's actually made a success of it, and doesn't seem like an ass who rams it down your throat non-stop, I legit did not give a shit when it turned out one of the characters was Trans and indeed the characters around it largely operated on unbased fears and presidencies of them jumping at their own shadows. Questionable Content is supposed to be somewhat dull as it's everyday life for some people who own a shitty coffee shop. It works and there's clearly enough of a dedicated audience to actively support Jeph to the tune of about $5.5k a month.

Of course the reality is that SJW ideology is either chock full of medicore artists and storytellers who fetishise those traits to the point it overrides all other rational thought. This is why the majority of "original" stuff like that is utter garbage and thus wouldn't sell because rather than being a story or character they're too busy screaming like the mentally ill loons they are. The market then finds they don't want to buy the product from the screaming moron and thus carry on to the "white dudebro" making the same safe but fun stuff they always do.

SJW culture does not create it's own, it parasitizes and colonizes existing culture on a poorman's basis of "me too" to try and make a quick buck from the normies who actually fund the wider cultural outputs like comic books.

QC did get hijacked by the SJW narrative to the point where the trans character could not be mocked in-universe even by Pintsize. The only difference is that Hands McStabby doesn't care enough himself to bitch on Twitter/Tumblr all the time, not even when "You and Me" became an exploitable meme.

I hate comics/books/movies that set their focus on LGBT or sjw topics in general. I'm gay and when I read a comic/book, I want to read a good story (not about some queers not being able to find a big dick) the same way straight people want to read a good story and not a comic about a straight white man complaining about race autism the whole time. Marvel doesn't seem to get that most LGB-T people don't give a fuck how they're represented in fiction, they just want to be entertained. So give us entertainment and stop trying to appeal to me by producing snowflake comics.

If you listened to Tumblr, you'd think that these marginalized people are so downtrodden and helpless that being shown one in media will be the sole beacon in their sad, sad lives.

Which is patronizing!

When people in future get somehow access to the internet after the nuclear war and discover Tumblr, they'll probably think "No wonder why our ancestors nuked themselves, they were fucking cancer)

Wait, I actually liked Gwenpool.

Edit: I regret not buying more of the comics now.
She'll probably get rebooted because she's one of the better ones.

Her editor, Heather Antos, needs to go though. She's the one who was mentioned as not knowing when the book was released as she spends her day drinking milkshakes and bashing Trump on Twitter.

Had to look this one up and I can honestly say that Heather definitely self promotes harder than she works as an assistant editor. Which sucks because she actually does seem to enjoy comics ( or at the very least the characters) but gotta put them personal politics first. Also I'd totally smash her.

I am going to go out on a limb and say that at least half the "harassment" was along the lines of "get the fuck back to work" or "stop ruining long standing characters to make a stupid point".

Gotta love these morons, blaming soggy knees for shitty comics that nobody bought getting cancelled. "I guess you're upset because you bought these, right?" "Naw, I don't buy comics."

Stupid fucking cunts.

They don't read comics, they buy Comic T shirts from Hot Topic or Gamestop and watch cash cow superhero movies.

And most of those movies suck, as well, which isn't making the situation (of self-defeat for Marvel, as well as DC, especially regarding THEIR film collection...) any fucking better.

Where this shit all fell apart spectacularly, was when they decided to pander to SJWs with everything they did. That niche is nowhere near big enough to be profitable that way, and when every brand you put out is some gender-special brown skinned muslim Mary Sue, you will lose a fuckton of sales.
Not only will you piss off all those long-time fans, but your products will also start to cannibalize one another, since SJW will (at best) buy a couple of series - not all of them.

And to top it off, the SJWs will never be happy with a niche title, they want EVERYTHING for THEM. It used to be that special interest groups were happy with getting a title on the side they could buy, or even just a character that represented them in a mainstream book. Thanks to hyperSJWism, that's no longer good enough, a single character is just fetisihizing or tokenism, EVERYTHING has to be my way or you really don't agree with me, and we know what that means, right, HITLER?!

They never wanted representation, they wanted the comic industry to get on their side just to grow the SJW brand, nothing more.

Even old horror comics?

Now this is good comics!

They're basically a bunch of fascists. They don't just want comics (or whatever) for them, they want to force their bullshit into shit other people buy, while they just steal shit. It's not even enough for them that they get "representation" or whatever bullshit code word they're using for it. Anything they don't like also has to be destroyed so nobody else can buy it either.

Who could have predicted that children who want to read comic books would rather read about superheroes kicking bad guy ass, as opposed to sucking every dick they can find.

The funny part is that they can still have their black/gay superheroes, but just need to stop forcing it, and treat them as non-gods.
The few comics I've read in my life, the heroes where always somewhat hated/not really accepted. And certainly not very popular.
I see a lot of these new comic book covers and it's always like "cool superhero stands next to a cheering crowd taking a selfie"
It all makes me worry if they're afraid of taking the same route they did before, just because now, you have minorities or whatever as the superhero pariah.
I really doubt the non-sjw comics are going to sell if they have the exact same writers that are afraid of really hurting or punishing the hero.

Example:
Adventures_of_Superman_425.jpg

Replace superman with a woman in this situation and suddenly theres backlash. So the writers are probably afraid of doing that.

So I don't think diversity in itself is a problem, it's more that the people working on it is afraid of making the minority hated/beaten up.

If they are removing diversity we can likely see the other side of the coin, if the same writers are kept, as in; instead of treating the minority as a mary sue which everyone loves
the writers decide to just vilify everyone and everything, which will likely lead to the same issue.

Sometimes I see them use the argument that they aren't taking anything away because even if they kill off all the characters people care about for their diverse replacements, those old stories still exist. That's one of the more rational excuses though I personally heavily disagree with it. Most don't go at it from that angle and just go on about representation which is as silly as demanding reboots which are just going to clutter everything anyways.

That's a whole can of worms on it's own and not completely exclusive to the "diversity" characters outside of being less likely to get harmed in their stories. For example, Marvel despite being marketed as having "relatable" heroes compared to the Distinguished Competition has abandoned concepts like secret identities or most capes coming off as freaks in favor for making them this weird collection of super-celebrities adored by the public. You're honestly more likely to see any Avenger partying with Beyonce or Trudeau unlike a Superman comic where he's off being a family man and dealing with regular people. It's kinda sad.

Not as sad as how the X-Men got very very very sidetracked from it's themes but that's way off topic.

Gwenpool was always stupid and pointless. SpiderGwen on the other hand, was aneat idea and should have been explored.

Qwenpool was good in small doses. It wasn't comic of the year but it was smart and clearly had a caring mind behind it. It also had a decent supporting cast and made previously mediocre superhero's decent for an issue (Teddy should really have been the main character tbh, he was surprisingly well written). It's problem was it s own self awareness, it made the argument that nothing in comics matters because it will all eventually be re-booted, and when several story arcs are focused on that, you're basically reading the same story multiple times. It outlived it's own unique genius and just became boring.
I'm not sad to see it go but i am glad it happened.
Spidergwen on the other hand had a fuckton of potential, but squandered it after issue 1. It had a genius premise but failed to deliver because we never actually see why it's unique or different, only that Spider-Man has a vagina now. Gwen stacy can't support a comic without her relation to peter parker, because that's almost her entire character. So when that's gone, whats left?
