After decades of relegating its LGBTQ characters to the sidelines, Marvel really turned things around with America and Iceman, its first two ongoing series featuring queer characters as their titular leads. Both books have been important additions to Marvel’s ever-expanding portfolio, but it seems as if the time has come for at least one of them to end. March’s comics solicitations are out this week and a number of titles including America are conspicuously missing, which heavily implies that the titles have been canceled. This afternoon, Marvel editor Heather Antos confirmed that Gwenpool, another title missing from the March solicits, was definitely canceled, further suggesting that any titles missing from the lineup as of today are done for.

Who could have predicted that children who want to read comic books would rather read about superheroes kicking bad guy ass, as opposed to sucking every dick they can find.

Number of people amazed: 0.

I'm not counting anyone on tumblr because they're not people.

It's too bad Marvel has too much money to pull a Cracked and drive themselves into the ground beyond all repair trying to preach their message.

About time this rat king gets deconstructed. The fact that it took them this long to realize that their dumb and unsellable agenda won't balance the moral order of the universe towards convincing any new or existing fans to buy their comics is a testament to their delusion.

A sign of salt to come or a lone REEE in the darkness because the people who pretended to give a shit about these comics have long since moved on? :optimistic:

“Most of these were subpar at best, yeah, but HOW DARE YOU MARVEL”
Full thread here, it’s funny how many of the people whining about the cancellations openly admit to never having actually bought the damn comics. Looks like this could generate some good salt.

These queers could fully get their representation fix from Image comics if that's what they really wanted. Spawn is revolutionary for being among some of the rare examples of a popular, black superhero and that was at the same time Image revolutionized cliched comic machismo. That goes without mentioning the myriad of non-superhero comics they publish in today's market, many of which I'm sure tackle their pet subject matter.
dc > marvel fite me right now

Cinematic universe.

The reason they all got thrown out at once is because they've had shit sales for months but were kept on for ideological reasons. Now that Marvel Comics got a new editor-in-chief these comics lost their protection and got trashed in one fell swoop, as they should have long ago. There is nothing fishy about their cancellation, what's fishy is that they didn't get cancelled sooner.

No they want it from Marvel cause that's the name of a company they're familiar with

That's a good point. Marvel earned its reputation as being the Superhero comic company that focused on being relatable to every-man problems. In a way, Image's early reputation for being offensively masculine, ultra violent, and often times anti-story really shielded them away from SJWs.

I'm surprised the X-Men were largely untouched by the SJW era in lieu of, say, Daredevil.

They practically held comic stores for ransom by insisting that if they want to order more popular titles and merch, they have to order large quantities of the SJW titles just to brag about the quantities SHIPPED. And then they act like they had nothing to do with those places closing up shop when those don't sell.

How much do you wanna bet that even the few that did read the comics didn't actually buy them, but downloaded them illegal from somewhere so they wouldn't have to squander any of their parents' money on childrens' books?
